| Genesis 4:1 | And the man knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man with [the help of] Jehovah. | And Adam knew Eve his wife: who conceived and brought forth Cain, saying: I have gotten a man through God. | And the man had connection with Eve his wife, and she became with child and gave birth to Cain, and said, I have got a man from the Lord. |
| Genesis 4:2 | And again she bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. | And again she brought forth his brother Abel. And Abel was a shepherd, and Cain a husbandman. | Then again she became with child and gave birth to Abel, his brother. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a farmer. |

| Genesis 4:7 | If thou doest well, shall it not be lifted up? and if thou doest not well, sin coucheth at the door: and unto thee shall be its desire, but do thou rule over it. | If thou do well, shalt thou not receive? but if ill, shall not sin forthwith be present at the door? but the lust thereof shall be under thee, and thou shalt have dominion over it. | If you do well, will you not have honour? and if you do wrong, sin is waiting at the door, desiring to have you, but do not let it be your master. |

And it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. | And Cain said to Abel his brother: Let us go forth abroad. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel, and slew him. | And Cain said to his brother, Let us go into the field: and when they were in the field, Cain made an attack on his brother Abel and put him to death. |

| Genesis 4:12 | when thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee its strength; a fugitive and a wanderer shalt thou be in the earth. | When thou shalt till it, it shall not yield to thee its fruit: a fugitive and vagabond shalt thou be upon the earth. | No longer will the earth give you her fruit as the reward of your work; you will be a wanderer in flight over the earth. |

And Jehovah appointed a sign for Cain, lest any finding him should smite him. | And the Lord said to him: No, it shall not be so: but whosoever shall kill Cain, shall be punished sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, that whosoever found him should not kill him. | And the Lord said, Truly, if Cain is put to death, seven lives will be taken for his. And the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one might put him to death. |

| Genesis 4:24 | If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, Truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold. | Sevenfold vengeance shall be taken for Cain: but for Lamech seventy times sevenfold. | If seven lives are to be taken as punishment for Cain's death, seventy-seven will be taken for Lamech's. |
