1st-Peter 5:1 | The elders among you I exhort, who am a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, who am also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: | The ancients therefore that are among you, I beseech, who am myself also an ancient, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ: as also a partaker of that glory which is to be revealed in time to come: | The elders which [are] among you I exhort, who [am their] fellow-elder and witness of the sufferings of the Christ, who also [am] partaker of the glory about to be revealed: |
1st-Peter 5:2 | Tend the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not of constraint, but willingly, according to [the will of] God; nor yet for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; | Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking care of it, not by constraint, but willingly, according to God: not for filthy lucre's sake, but voluntarily: | shepherd the flock of God which [is] among you, exercising oversight, not by necessity, but willingly; not for base gain, but readily; |
1st-Peter 5:3 | neither as lording it over the charge allotted to you, but making yourselves ensamples to the flock. | Neither as lording it over the clergy, but being made a pattern of the flock from the heart. | not as lording it over your possessions, but being models for the flock. |
1st-Peter 5:4 | And when the chief Shepherd shall be manifested, ye shall receive the crown of glory that fadeth not away. | And when the prince of pastors shall appear, you shall receive a never fading crown of glory. | And when the chief shepherd is manifested ye shall receive the unfading crown of glory. |
1st-Peter 5:5 | Likewise, ye younger, be subject unto the elder. Yea, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to serve one another: for God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble. | In like manner, ye young men, be subject to the ancients. And do you all insinuate humility one to another, for God resisteth the proud, but to the humble he giveth grace. | Likewise [ye] younger, be subject to [the] elder, and all of you bind on humility towards one another; for God sets himself against [the] proud, but to [the] humble gives grace. |
1st-Peter 5:6 | Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time; | Be you humbled therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in the time of visitation: | Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in [the due] time; |
1st-Peter 5:7 | casting all your anxiety upon him, because he careth for you. | Casting all your care upon him, for he hath care of you. | having cast all your care upon him, for he cares about you. |
1st-Peter 5:8 | Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour, | Be sober and watch: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour. | Be vigilant, watch. Your adversary [the] devil as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour. |
1st-Peter 5:9 | whom withstand stedfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished in your brethren who are in the world. | Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing that the same affliction befalls your brethren who are in the world. | Whom resist, stedfast in faith, knowing that the selfsame sufferings are accomplished in your brotherhood which [is] in [the] world. |
1st-Peter 5:10 | And the God of all grace, who called you unto his eternal glory in Christ, after that ye have suffered a little while, shall himself perfect, establish, strengthen you. | But the God of all grace, who hath called us into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little, will himself perfect you, and confirm you, and establish you. | But the God of all grace who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, when ye have suffered for a little while, himself shall make perfect, stablish, strengthen, ground: |
1st-Peter 5:11 | To him [be] the dominion for ever and ever. Amen. | To him be glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen. | to him [be] the glory and the might for the ages of the ages. Amen. |
1st-Peter 5:12 | By Silvanus, our faithful brother, as I account [him], I have written unto you briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand ye fast therein. | By Sylvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I think, I have written briefly: beseeching and testifying that this is the true grace of God, wherein you stand. | By Silvanus, the faithful brother, as I suppose, I have written to you briefly; exhorting and testifying that this is [the] true grace of God in which ye stand. |
1st-Peter 5:13 | She that is in Babylon, elect together with [you], saluteth you; and [so doth] Mark my son. | The church that is in Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you: and so doth my son Mark. | She that is elected with [you] in Babylon salutes you, and Marcus my son. |
1st-Peter 5:14 | Salute one another with a kiss of love. Peace be unto you all that are in Christ. | Salute one another with a holy kiss. Grace be to all you, who are in Christ Jesus. Amen. | Salute one another with a kiss of love. Peace be with you all who [are] in Christ. |
