Hosea 8:1[Set] the trumpet to thy mouth. As an eagle [he cometh] against the house of Jehovah, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law. Let there be a trumpet in thy throat like an eagle upon the house of the Lord: because they have transgressed my covenant, and have violated my law.Set the trumpet to thy mouth. [He cometh] as an eagle against the house of Jehovah, because they have transgressed my covenant, and rebelled against my law.
Hosea 8:2They shall cry unto me, My God, we Israel know thee. They shall call upon me: O my God, we, Israel, know thee. They shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee; [we], Israel.
Hosea 8:3Israel hath cast off that which is good: the enemy shall pursue him. Israel hath cast off the thing that is good, the enemy shall pursue him.Israel hath cast off good: the enemy shall pursue him.
Hosea 8:4They have set up kings, but not by me; they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off. They have reigned, but not by me: they have been princes, and I knew not: of their silver, and their gold they have made idols to themselves, that they might perish. They have set up kings, but not by me; they have made princes, and I knew it not; of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.
Hosea 8:5He hath cast off thy calf, O Samaria; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency? Thy calf, O Samaria, is cast off, my wrath is kindled against them. How long will they be incapable of being cleansed ?Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast [thee] off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will they be incapable of purity?
Hosea 8:6For from Israel is even this; the workman made it, and it is no God; yea, the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces. For itself also is the invention of Israel: a workman made it, and it is no god: for the calf of Samaria shall be turned to spiders' webs. For from Israel is this also: a workman made it, and it is no God: for the calf of Samaria shall be [broken in] pieces.
Hosea 8:7For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: he hath no standing grain; the blade shall yield no meal; if so be it yield, strangers shall swallow it up. For they shall sow wind, and reap a whirlwind, there is no standing stalk in it, the bud shall yield no meal; end if it should yield, strangers shall eat it.For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk; should it sprout, it would yield no meal; if so be it yield, strangers shall swallow it up.
Hosea 8:8Israel is swallowed up: now are they among the nations as a vessel wherein none delighteth. Israel is swallowed up: now is he become among the nations like an unclean vessel.Israel is swallowed up: now are they become among the nations as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.
Hosea 8:9For they are gone up to Assyria, [like] a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers. For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath given gifts to his lovers. For they are gone up [to] Assyria [as] a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.
Hosea 8:10Yea, though they hire among the nations, now will I gather them; and they begin to be diminished by reason of the burden of the king of princes. But even though they shall have hired the nations, now will I gather them together: and they shall rest a while from the burden of the king, and the princes.Although they hire among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall begin to be straitened under the burden of the king of princes.
Hosea 8:11Because Ephraim hath multiplied altars for sinning, altars have been unto him for sinning. Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin: altars are become to him unto sin.Because Ephraim hath multiplied altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin.
Hosea 8:12I wrote for him the ten thousand things of my law; but they are counted as a strange thing. I shall write to him my manifold laws, which have been accounted as foreign.I have prescribed unto him the manifold things of my law: they are counted [as] a strange thing.
Hosea 8:13As for the sacrifices of mine offerings, they sacrifice flesh and eat it; but Jehovah accepteth them not: now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins; they shall return to Egypt. They shall offer victims, they shall sacrifice flesh, and shall eat it, and the Lord will not receive them: now will he remember their iniquity, and will visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt. They sacrifice flesh [for] the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it; Jehovah hath no delight in them. Now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.
Hosea 8:14For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and builded palaces; and Judah hath multiplied fortified cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the castles thereof. And Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and hath built temples: and Juda hath built many fenced cities: and I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the houses thereof. For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.
