Matthew 25:1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. Then shall the kingdom of heaven be like to ten virgins, who taking their lamps went out to meet the bridegroom and the bride."Then will the Kingdom of the Heavens be found to be like ten bridesmaids who took their torches and went out to meet the bridegroom.
Matthew 25:2And five of them were foolish, and five were wise. And five of them were foolish, and five wise.Five of them were foolish and five were wise.
Matthew 25:3For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them: But the five foolish, having taken their lamps, did not take oil with them:For the foolish, when they took their torches, did not provide themselves with oil;
Matthew 25:4but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But the wise took oil in their vessels with the lamps.but the wise, besides their torches, took oil in their flasks.
Matthew 25:5Now while the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And the bridegroom tarrying, they all slumbered and slept.The bridegroom was a long time in coming, so that meanwhile they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
Matthew 25:6But at midnight there is a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Come ye forth to meet him. And at midnight there was a cry made: Behold the bridegroom cometh, go ye forth to meet him.But at midnight there is a loud cry, "`The bridegroom! Go out and meet him!'
Matthew 25:7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps."Then all those bridesmaids roused themselves and trimmed their torches.
Matthew 25:8And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are going out. And the foolish said to the wise: Give us of your oil, for our lamps are gone out."`Give us some of your oil,' said the foolish ones to the wise, `for our torches are going out.'
Matthew 25:9But the wise answered, saying, Peradventure there will not be enough for us and you: go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. The wise answered, saying: Lest perhaps there be not enough for us and for you, go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves."`But perhaps,' replied the wise, `there will not be enough for all of us. Go to the shops rather, and buy some for yourselves.'
Matthew 25:10And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage feast: and the door was shut. Now whilst they went to buy, the bridegroom came: and they that were ready, went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut."So they went to buy. But meanwhile the bridegroom came; those bridesmaids who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet; and the door was shut.
Matthew 25:11Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But at last come also the other virgins, saying: Lord, Lord, open to us."Afterwards the other bridesmaids came and cried, "`Sir, Sir, open the door to us.'
Matthew 25:12But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. But he answering said: Amen I say to you, I know you not."`In solemn truth I tell you,' he replied, `I do not know you.'
Matthew 25:13Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour. Watch ye therefore, because you know not the day nor the hour."Keep awake therefore; for you know neither the day nor the hour.
Matthew 25:14For [it is] as [when] a man, going into another country, called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. For even as a man going into a far country, called his servants, and delivered to them his goods;"Why, it is like a man who, when going on his travels, called his bondservants and entrusted his property to their care.
Matthew 25:15And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his several ability; and he went on his journey. And to one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one, to every one according to his proper ability: and immediately he took his journey.To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one to each according to his individual capacity; and then started from home.
Matthew 25:16Straightway he that received the five talents went and traded with them, and made other five talents. And he that had received the five talents, went his way, and traded with the same, and gained other five.Without delay the one who had received the five talents went and employed them in business, and gained five more.
Matthew 25:17In like manner he also that [received] the two gained other two. And in like manner he that had received the two, gained other two.In the same way he who had the two gained two more.
Matthew 25:18But he that received the one went away and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money. But he that had received the one, going his way digged into the earth, and hid his lord's money.But the man who had received the one went and dug a hole and buried his master's money.
Matthew 25:19Now after a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and maketh a reckoning with them. But after a long time the lord of those servants came, and reckoned with them."After a long lapse of time the master of those servants returned, and had a reckoning with them.
Matthew 25:20And he that received the five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: lo, I have gained other five talents. And he that had received the five talents coming, brought other five talents, saying: Lord, thou didst deliver to me five talents, behold I have gained other five over and above.The one who had received the five talents came and brought five more, and said, "`Sir, it was five talents that you entrusted to me: see, I have gained five more.'
Matthew 25:21His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord. His lord said to him: Well done, good and faithful servant, because thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will place thee over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."`You have done well, good and trustworthy servant,' replied his master; `you have been trustworthy in the management of a little, I will put you in charge of much: share your master's joy.'
Matthew 25:22And he also that [received] the two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: lo, I have gained other two talents. And he also that had received the two talents came and said: Lord, thou deliveredst two talents to me: behold I have gained other two."The second, who had received the two talents, came and said, "`Sir, it was two talents you entrusted to me: see, I have gained two more.'
Matthew 25:23His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord. His lord said to him: Well done, good and faithful servant: because thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will place thee over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."`Good and trustworthy servant, you have done well,' his master replied; `you have been trustworthy in the management of a little, I will put you in charge of much: share your master's joy.'
Matthew 25:24And he also that had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou didst not sow, and gathering where thou didst not scatter; But he that had received the one talent, came and said: Lord, I know that thou art a hard man; thou reapest where thou hast not sown, and gatherest where thou hast not strewed."But, next, the man who had the one talent in his keeping came and said, "`Sir, I knew you to be a severe man, reaping where you had not sown and garnering what you had not winnowed.
Matthew 25:25and I was afraid, and went away and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, thou hast thine own. And being afraid I went and hid thy talent in the earth: behold here thou hast that which is thine.So being afraid I went and buried your talent in the ground: there you have what belongs to you.'
Matthew 25:26But his lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I did not scatter; And his lord answering, said to him: Wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sow not, and gather where I have not strewed:"`You wicked and slothful servant,' replied his master, `did you know that I reap where I have not sown, and garner what I have not winnowed?
Matthew 25:27thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back mine own with interest. Thou oughtest therefore to have committed my money to the bankers, and at my coming I should have received my own with usury.Your duty then was to deposit my money in some bank, and so when I came I should have got back my property with interest.
Matthew 25:28Take ye away therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him that hath the ten talents. Take ye away therefore the talent from him, and give it to him that hath ten talents.So take away the talent from him, and give it to the man who has the ten.'
Matthew 25:29For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not, even that which he hath shall be taken away. For to every one that hath shall be given, and he shall abound: but from him that hath not, that also which he seemeth to have shall be taken away.(For to every one who has, more shall be given, and he shall have abundance; but from him who has nothing, even what he has shall be taken away.)
Matthew 25:30And cast ye out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. And the unprofitable servant cast ye out into the exterior darkness. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.`But as for this worthless servant, put him out into the darkness outside: *there* will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.'
Matthew 25:31But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory: And when the Son of man shall come in his majesty, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit upon the seat of his majesty."When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then will He sit upon His glorious throne,
Matthew 25:32and before him shall be gathered all the nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats; And all nations shall be gathered together before him, and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats:and all the nations will be gathered into His presence. And He will separate them from one another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;
Matthew 25:33and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on his left.and will make the sheep stand at His right hand, and the goats at His left.
Matthew 25:34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: Then shall the king say to them that shall be on his right hand: Come, ye blessed of my Father, possess you the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world."Then the King will say to those at His right, "`Come, my Father's blessed ones, receive your inheritance of the Kingdom which has been divinely intended for you ever since the creation of the world.
Matthew 25:35for I was hungry, and ye gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in; For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in:For when I was hungry, you gave me food; when I was thirsty, you gave me drink; when I was homeless, you gave me a welcome;
Matthew 25:36naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Naked, and you covered me: sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came to me.when I was ill-clad, you clothed me; when I was sick, you visited me; when I was in prison, you came to see me.'
Matthew 25:37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, and fed thee? or athirst, and gave thee drink? Then shall the just answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, and fed thee; thirsty, and gave thee drink?"`When, Lord,' the righteous will reply, `did we see Thee hungry, and feed Thee; or thirsty, and give Thee drink?
Matthew 25:38And when saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? And when did we see thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and covered thee?When did we see Thee homeless, and give Thee a welcome? or ill-clad, and clothe Thee?
Matthew 25:39And when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? Or when did we see thee sick or in prison, and came to thee?When did we see Thee sick or in prison, and come to see Thee?'
Matthew 25:40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it unto one of these my brethren, [even] these least, ye did it unto me. And the king answering, shall say to them: Amen I say to you, as long as you did it to one of these my least brethren, you did it to me."But the King will answer them, "`In solemn truth I tell you that in so far as you rendered such services to one of the humblest of these my brethren, you rendered them to myself.'
Matthew 25:41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels: Then he shall say to them also that shall be on his left hand: Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels."Then will He say to those at His left, "`Begone from me, with the curse resting upon you, into the Fire of the Ages, which has been prepared for the Devil and his angels.
Matthew 25:42for I was hungry, and ye did not give me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink; For I was hungry, and you gave me not to eat: I was thirsty, and you gave me not to drink.For when I was hungry, you gave me nothing to eat; when thirsty, you gave me nothing to drink;
Matthew 25:43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye clothed me not; sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. I was a stranger, and you took me not in: naked, and you covered me not: sick and in prison, and you did not visit me.when homeless, you gave me no welcome; ill-clad, you clothed me not; sick or in prison, you visited me not.'
Matthew 25:44Then shall they also answer, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then they also shall answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to thee?"Then will they also answer, "`Lord, when did we see Thee hungry or thirsty or homeless or ill-clad or sick or in prison, and not come to serve Thee?'
Matthew 25:45Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not unto one of these least, ye did it not unto me. Then he shall answer them, saying: Amen I say to you, as long as you did it not to one of these least, neither did you do it to me."But he will reply, "`In solemn truth I tell you that in so far as you withheld such services from one of the humblest of these, you withheld them from me.'
Matthew 25:46And these shall go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life. And these shall go into everlasting punishment: but the just, into life everlasting."And these shall go away into the Punishment of the Ages, but the righteous into the Life of the Ages."
