Hebrews 5:1For every high priest, being taken from among men, is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: For every high priest taken from among men, is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:For every high priest taken from among men, is ordained for men in the things that appertain to God, that he may offer up gifts and sacrifices for sins:
Hebrews 5:2who can bear gently with the ignorant and erring, for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity; Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.Who can have compassion on them that are ignorant and that err: because he himself also is compassed with infirmity.
Hebrews 5:3and by reason thereof is bound, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. And by reason of this he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. And therefore he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.
Hebrews 5:4And no man taketh the honor unto himself, but when he is called of God, even as was Aaron. And no man taketh this honor to himself, but he that is called by God, as was Aaron:Neither doth any man take the honour to himself, but he that is called by God, as Aaron was.
Hebrews 5:5So Christ also glorified not himself to be made a high priest, but he that spake unto him, Thou art my Son, This day have I begotten thee: So also Christ glorified not himself to be made a high priest; but he that said to him, Thou art my Son, to-day have I begotten thee.So Christ also did not glorify himself, that he might be made a high priest: but he that said unto him: Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.
Hebrews 5:6as he saith also in another [place,] Thou art a priest for ever After the order of Melchizedek. As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. As he saith also in another place: Thou art a priest for ever, according to the order of Melchisedech.
Hebrews 5:7Who in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear, Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears to him that was able to save him from death, and was heard, in that he feared;Who in the days of his flesh, with a strong cry and tears, offering up prayers and supplications to him that was able to save him from death, was heard for his reverence.
Hebrews 5:8though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered; Though he was a Son, yet he learned obedience by the things which he suffered; And whereas indeed he was the Son of God, he learned obedience by the things which he suffered:
Hebrews 5:9and having been made perfect, he became unto all them that obey him the author of eternal salvation; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation to all them that obey him;And being consummated, he became, to all that obey him, the cause of eternal salvation.
Hebrews 5:10named of God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek. Called by God a high priest after the order of Melchisedec.Called by God a high priest according to the order of Melchisedech.
Hebrews 5:11Of whom we have many things to say, and hard of interpretation, seeing ye are become dull of hearing. Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.Of whom we have much to say, and hard to be intelligibly uttered: because you are become weak to hear.
Hebrews 5:12For when by reason of the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need again that some one teach you the rudiments of the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need of one to teach you again which are the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong food. For whereas for the time you ought to be masters, you have need to be taught again what are the first elements of the words of God: and you are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
Hebrews 5:13For every one that partaketh of milk is without experience of the word of righteousness; for he is a babe. For every one that useth milk, is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. For every one that is a partaker of milk, is unskillful in the word of justice: for he is a little child.
Hebrews 5:14But solid food is for fullgrown men, [even] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil. But strong food belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. But strong meat is for the perfect; for them who by custom have their senses exercised to the discerning of good and evil.
