Mark 4:1And again he began to teach by the sea side. And there is gathered unto him a very great multitude, so that he entered into a boat, and sat in the sea; and all the multitude were by the sea on the land. And he began again to teach by the sea-side: and there was gathered to him a great multitude, so that he entered into a boat, and sat on the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea, on the land.Again he began to teach by the seaside. A great multitude was gathered to him, so that he entered into a boat in the sea, and sat down. All the multitude were on the land by the sea.
Mark 4:2And he taught them many things in parables, and said unto them in his teaching, And he taught them many things by parables, and said to them in his doctrine,He taught them many things in parables, and told them in his teaching,
Mark 4:3Hearken: Behold, the sower went forth to sow: Hearken; Behold, a sower went out to sow:"Listen! Behold, the farmer went forth to sow,
Mark 4:4and it came to pass, as he sowed, some [seed] fell by the way side, and the birds came and devoured it. And it came to pass as he sowed, some fell by the way-side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it.and it happened, as he sowed, some seed fell by the road, and the birds came and devoured it.
Mark 4:5And other fell on the rocky [ground], where it had not much earth; and straightway it sprang up, because it had no deepness of earth: And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth.Others fell on the rocky ground, where it had little soil, and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of soil.

Mark 4:9And he said, Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. And he said to them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.He said, "Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear."
Mark 4:10And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parables. And when he was alone, they that were about him, with the twelve, asked of him the parable.When he was alone, those who were around him with the twelve asked him about the parables.
Mark 4:11And he said unto them, Unto you is given the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all things are done in parables: And he said to them, To you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but to them that are without, all these things are done in parables:He said to them, "To you is given the mystery of the kingdom of God, but to those who are outside, all things are done in parables,
Mark 4:12that seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest haply they should turn again, and it should be forgiven them. That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.that 'seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest perhaps they should turn again, and their sins should be forgiven them.'"
Mark 4:13And he saith unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how shall ye know all the parables? And he said to them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?He said to them, "Don't you understand this parable? How will you understand all of the parables?
Mark 4:14The sower soweth the word. The sower soweth the word.The farmer sows the word.
Mark 4:15And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; and when they have heard, straightway cometh Satan, and taketh away the word which hath been sown in them. And these are they by the way-side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.These are they by the road, where the word is sown; and when they have heard, immediately Satan comes, and takes away the word which has been sown in them.
Mark 4:16And these in like manner are they that are sown upon the rocky [places], who, when they have heard the word, straightway receive it with joy; And these are they likewise who are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;These in like manner are those who are sown on the rocky places, who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy.
Mark 4:17and they have no root in themselves, but endure for a while; then, when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straightway they stumble. And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they relapse.They have no root in themselves, but endure for a while, then, when oppression or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they stumble.
Mark 4:18And others are they that are sown among the thorns; these are they that have heard the word, And these are they who are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,Others are those who are sown among the thorns. These are those who have heard the word,
Mark 4:19and the cares of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. Mark 4:21And he said unto them, Is the lamp brought to be put under the bushel, or under the bed, [and] not to be put on the stand? And he said to them, Is a candle brought to be put under a close vessel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick?He said to them, "Is the lamp brought to be put under a basket or under the bed? Isn't it put on the lampstand?
Mark 4:22For there is nothing hid, save that it should be manifested; neither was [anything] made secret, but that it should come to light. For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither hath any thing been kept secret, but that it should come abroad.For there is nothing hidden, except that it should be made known; neither was anything made secret, but that it should come to light.
Mark 4:23If any man hath ears to hear, let him hear. If any man hath ears to hear, let him hear.If any man has ears to hear, let him hear."
Mark 4:24And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete it shall be measured unto you; and more shall be given unto you. And he said to them, Take heed what ye hear: With the measure which ye give, it shall be measured to you: and to you that hear shall more be given.He said to them, "Take heed what you hear. With whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you, and more will be given to you who hear.
Mark 4:25For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken away even that which he hath. For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.For whoever has, to him will more be given, and he who has not, from him will be taken away even that which he has."
Mark 4:26And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed upon the earth; And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;He said, "So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed on the earth,
Mark 4:27and should sleep and rise night and day, and the seed should spring up and grow, he knoweth not how. Mark 4:28The earth beareth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. Mark 4:29But when the fruit is ripe, straightway he putteth forth the sickle, because the harvest is come. Mark 4:30And he said, How shall we liken the kingdom of God? or in what parable shall we set it forth? And he said, To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?He said, "How will we liken the kingdom of God? Or by what parable will we compare it?
Mark 4:31It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown upon the earth, though it be less than all the seeds that are upon the earth, It is like a grain of mustard-seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that are in the earth.It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, though it is less than all the seeds that are on the earth,
Mark 4:32yet when it is sown, groweth up, and becometh greater than all the herbs, and putteth out great branches; so that the birds of the heaven can lodge under the shadow thereof. Mark 4:36And leaving the multitude, they take him with them, even as he was, in the boat. And other boats were with him. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the boat. Mark 4:37And there ariseth a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the boat, insomuch that the boat was now filling. Mark 4:38And he himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion: and they awake him, and say unto him, Teacher, carest thou not that we perish? And he was in the hinder part of the boat, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say to him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?He himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion, and they woke him up, and told him, "Teacher, don't you care that we are dying?"
Mark 4:39And he awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace, be still: and the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.He awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace. Be still." The wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Mark 4:40And he said unto them, Why are ye fearful? have ye not yet faith? And he said to them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?He said to them, "Why are you so afraid? How is it that you have no faith?"
Mark 4:41And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?They were greatly afraid, and said to one another, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"
