Mark 14:1Now after two days was [the feast of] the passover and the unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him with subtlety, and kill him: It was now two days before the Passover and the feast of Unleavened Bread, and the High Priests and Scribes were bent on finding how to seize Him by stratagem and put Him to death. It was now two days before the feast of the Passover and the unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes made designs how they might take him by deceit and put him to death:
Mark 14:2for they said, Not during the feast, lest haply there shall be a tumult of the people. But they said, "Not on the Festival-day, for fear there should be a riot among the people."But they said, Not while the feast is going on, for fear there may be trouble among the people.
Mark 14:3And while he was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster cruse of ointment of pure nard very costly; [and] she brake the cruse, and poured it over his head. Now when He was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the Leper, while He was at table, there came a woman with a jar of pure, sweet-scented ointment very costly: she broke the jar and poured the ointment over His head. And while he was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, seated at table, there came a woman with a bottle of perfumed oil of great price; and when the bottle was broken she put the perfume on his head.
Mark 14:4But there were some that had indignation among themselves, [saying], To what purpose hath this waste of the ointment been made? But there were some who said indignantly among themselves, "Why has the ointment been thus wasted? But some of them were angry among themselves, saying, For what purpose has this oil been wasted?
Mark 14:5For this ointment might have been sold for above three hundred shillings, and given to the poor. And they murmured against her. For that ointment might have been sold for fifteen pounds or more, and the money have been given to the poor." And they were exceedingly angry with her.We might have got more than three hundred pence for it, and given the money to the poor. And they said things against her among themselves.
Mark 14:6But Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. But Jesus said, "Leave her alone: why are you troubling her? She has done a most gracious act towards me.But Jesus said, Let her be; why are you troubling her? she has done a kind act to me.
Mark 14:7For ye have the poor always with you, and whensoever ye will ye can do them good: but me ye have not always. For you always have the poor among you, and whenever you choose you can do acts of kindness to them; but me you have not always. The poor you have ever with you, and whenever you have the desire you may do them good: but me you have not for ever.
Mark 14:8She hath done what she could; she hath anointed my body beforehand for the burying. What she could she did: she has perfumed my body in preparation for my burial. She has done what she was able: she has put oil on my body to make it ready for its last resting-place.
Mark 14:9And verily I say unto you, Wheresoever the gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, that also which this woman hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her. And I solemnly tell you that wherever in the whole world the Good News shall be proclaimed, this which she has done shall also be told in remembrance of her."And truly I say to you, Wherever the good news goes out through all the earth, what this woman has done will be talked of in memory of her.
Mark 14:10And Judas Iscariot, he that was one of the twelve, went away unto the chief priests, that he might deliver him unto them. But Judas Iscariot, already mentioned as one of the Twelve, went to the High Priests to betray Jesus to them. And Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went away to the chief priests, so that he might give him up to them.
Mark 14:11And they, when they heard it, were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently deliver him [unto them]. They gladly listened to his proposal, and promised to give him a sum of money. So he looked out for an opportunity to betray Him.And hearing what he said, they were glad, and gave him their word to make him a payment of money. And he took thought how he might best give him up to them.
Mark 14:12And on the first day of unleavened bread, when they sacrificed the passover, his disciples say unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and make ready that thou mayest eat the passover? On the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread the day for killing the Passover lamb His disciples asked Him, "Where shall we go and prepare for you to eat the Passover?"And on the first day of unleavened bread, when the Passover lamb is put to death, his disciples said to him, Where are we to go and make ready for you to take the Passover meal?

Mark 14:14and wheresoever he shall enter in, say to the master of the house, The Teacher saith, Where is my guest-chamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? and whatever house he enters, tell the master of the house, `The Rabbi asks, Where is my room where I can eat the Passover with my disciples?'And wherever he goes in, say to the owner of the house, The Master says, Where is my guest-room, where I may take the Passover with my disciples?
Mark 14:15And he will himself show you a large upper room furnished [and] ready: and there make ready for us. Then he will himself show you a large room upstairs, ready furnished: there make preparation for us."And he will take you up himself to a great room with a table and seats: there make ready for us.
Mark 14:16And the disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover. So the disciples went out and came to the city, and found everything just as He had told them; and they got the Passover ready. And the disciples went out and came into the town, and saw that it was as he had said: and they made ready the Passover.

Mark 14:21For the Son of man goeth, even as it is written of him: but woe unto that man through whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had not been born. For the Son of Man is going His way as it is written about Him; but alas for the man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It had been a happy thing for that man, had he never been born."The Son of man goes, even as the Writings say of him: but cursed is that man through whom the Son of man is given up! It would have been well for that man if he had never been given birth.
Mark 14:22And as they were eating, he took bread, and when he had blessed, he brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take ye: this is my body. Also during the meal He took a Passover biscuit, blessed it, and broke it. Then said Jesus to them, "All of you are about to stumble and fall, for it is written, `I will strike down the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered in all directions.'And Jesus said to them, You will all be turned away from me: for it is in the Writings, I will put the keeper of the sheep to death, and the sheep will be put to flight.
Mark 14:28Howbeit, after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee. But after I have risen to life again I will go before you into Galilee."But after I have come back from the dead, I will go before you into Galilee.

Mark 14:30And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, that thou to-day, [even] this night, before the cock crow twice, shalt deny me thrice. "I solemnly tell you," replied Jesus, "that to-day this night before the cock crows twice, you yourself will three times disown me."And Jesus said to him, Truly, I say to you that you, today, even this night, before the cock's second cry, will say three times that you have no knowledge of me.
Mark 14:31But he spake exceedingly vehemently, If I must die with thee, I will not deny thee. And in like manner also said they all. "Even if I must die with you," declared Peter again and again, "I will never disown you." In like manner protested also all the disciples. But he said with passion, If I have to be put to death with you, I will not be false to you. And they all said the same.

Mark 14:35And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him. Going forward a short distance He threw Himself upon His face and prayed repeatedly that, if it was possible, He might be spared that time of agony; And he went forward a little, and falling down on the earth, made request that, if possible, the hour might go from him.
Mark 14:36And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; remove this cup from me: howbeit not what I will, but what thou wilt. and He said, "Abba! my Father! all things are possible for Thee: take this cup of suffering away from me: and yet not what I desire, but what Thou desirest."And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible to you; take away this cup from me: but even so let not my pleasure, but yours be done.
Mark 14:37And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest thou not watch one hour? Then He came and found them asleep, and He said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Had you not strength to keep awake a single hour? And he came, and saw them sleeping, and said to Peter, Simon, are you sleeping? were you not able to keep watch one hour?
Mark 14:38Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Be wakeful, all of you, and keep on praying, that you may not come into temptation: the spirit is right willing, but the body is frail."Keep watch with prayer, so that you may not be put to the test; the spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is feeble.
Mark 14:39And again he went away, and prayed, saying the same words. He again went away and prayed, using the very same words. And again he went away, and said a prayer, using the same words.
Mark 14:40And again he came, and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy; and they knew not what to answer him. When He returned He again found them asleep, for they were very tired; and they knew not how to answer Him.And again he came and saw them sleeping, because their eyes were very tired; and they had nothing to say in answer.
Mark 14:41And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough; the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. A third time He came, and then He said, "Sleep on and rest. Enough! the hour has come. Even now they are betraying the Son of Man into the hands of sinful men.And he came the third time, and said to them, Go on sleeping now and take your rest: it is enough; the hour has come; see, the Son of man is given up into the hands of evil men.
Mark 14:42Arise, let us be going: behold, he that betrayeth me is at hand. Rouse yourselves, let us be going: my betrayer is close at hand."Get up, let us be going; see, he who gives me up is near.
Mark 14:43And straightway, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. Immediately, while He was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, came and with him a crowd of men armed with swords and cudgels, sent by the High Priests and Scribes and Elders. And straight away, while he was still talking, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great band with swords and sticks, from the chief priests and the scribes and those in authority.
Mark 14:44Now he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he; take him, and lead him away safely. Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them. "The one I kiss," he said, "is the man: lay hold of him, and take him safely away."Now he who had been false to him had given them a sign, saying, The one to whom I give a kiss, that is he; take him, and get him away safely.
Mark 14:45And when he was come, straightway he came to him, and saith, Rabbi; and kissed him. So he came, and going straight to Jesus he said, "Rabbi!" and kissed Him with seeming affection; And when he had come, he went straight to him and said, Master; and gave him a kiss.
Mark 14:46And they laid hands on him, and took him. whereupon they laid hands on Him and held Him firmly. And they put their hands on him, and took him.
Mark 14:47But a certain one of them that stood by drew his sword, and smote the servant of the high priest, and struck off his ear. Mark 14:48And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a robber, with swords and staves to seize me? "Have you come out," said Jesus, "with swords and cudgels to arrest me, as if you had to fight with a robber? And Jesus said to them, Have you come out as against a thief, with swords and sticks to take me?
Mark 14:49I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but [this is done] that the scriptures might be fulfilled. Day after day I used to be among you in the Temple teaching, and you never seized me. But this is happening in order that the Scriptures may be fulfilled.'I was with you every day in the Temple teaching, and you did not take me; but this is done so that the Writings may come true.
Mark 14:50And they all left him, and fled. Then His friends all forsook Him and fled. And they all went away from him in fear.
Mark 14:51And a certain young man followed with him, having a linen cloth cast about him, over [his] naked [body]: and they lay hold on him; One youth indeed did follow Him, wearing only a linen cloth round his bare body. Of him they laid hold,And a certain young man went after him, with only a linen cloth about his body; and they put their hands on him;
Mark 14:52but he left the linen cloth, and fled naked. but he left the linen cloth in their hands and fled without it.But he got away unclothed, without the linen cloth.
Mark 14:53And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and there come together with him all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes. So they led Jesus away to the High Priest, and with him there assembled all the High Priests, Elders, and Scribes. And they took Jesus away to the high priest; and there came together with him all the chief priests and those in authority and the scribes.
Mark 14:54And Peter had followed him afar off, even within, into the court of the high priest; and he was sitting with the officers, and warming himself in the light [of the fire]. Peter followed Jesus at a distance, as far as the outer court of the High Priest's palace. But there he remained sitting among the officers, and warming himself by the fire. And Peter had come after him at a distance, even into the house of the high priest; and he was seated with the captains, warming himself in the light of the fire.
Mark 14:55Now the chief priests and the whole council sought witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found it not. Meanwhile the High Priests and the entire Sanhedrin were endeavouring to get evidence against Jesus in order to put Him to death, but could find none; Now the chief priests and all the Sanhedrin were looking for witness against Jesus so that they might put him to death; and they were unable to get any.
Mark 14:56For many bare false witness against him, and their witness agreed not together. for though many gave false testimony against Him, their statements did not tally. For a number gave false witness against him and their witness was not in agreement.
Mark 14:57And there stood up certain, and bare false witness against him, saying, Then some came forward as witnesses and falsely declared,Then some got up and gave false witness against him, saying,
Mark 14:58We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands. "We have heard him say, `I will pull down this Sanctuary built by human hands, and three days afterwards I will erect another built without hands.'"He said in our hearing, I will put an end to this Temple which is made with hands, and in three days I will make another without hands.
Mark 14:59And not even so did their witness agree together. But not even in this shape was their testimony consistent. And even so their witness was not in agreement.
Mark 14:60And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? At last the High Priest stood up, and advancing into the midst of them all, asked Jesus, "Have you no answer to make? What is the meaning of all this that these witnesses allege against you?"And the high priest got up in the middle of them, and said to Jesus, Do you say nothing in answer? what is it which these say against you?
Mark 14:61But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and saith unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? But He remained silent, and gave no reply. A second time the High Priest questioned Him. "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?" he said. But he kept quiet and said nothing. Again the high priest questioning him said, Are you the Christ, the son of the Holy One?
Mark 14:62And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven. "I am," replied Jesus, "and you and others will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the divine Power, and coming amid the clouds of the sky."And Jesus said, I am: and you will see the Son of man seated at the right hand of power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.
Mark 14:63And the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What further need have we of witnesses? Rending his garments the High Priest exclaimed, "What need have we of witnesses after that? And the high priest, violently parting his robes, said, What more need have we of witnesses?
Mark 14:64Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be worthy of death. You all heard his impious words. What is your judgement?" Then with one voice they condemned Him as deserving of death. His words against God have come to your ears: what is your opinion? And they all said it was right for him to be put to death.
Mark 14:65And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the officers received him with blows of their hands. Thereupon some began to spit on Him, and to blindfold Him, while striking Him with their fists and crying, "Prove that you are a prophet." The officers too struck Him with open hands as they took Him in charge. And some put shame on him and, covering his face, gave him blows and said to him, Now say what is to come: and the captains took him and gave him blows with their hands.
Mark 14:66And as Peter was beneath in the court, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest; Now while Peter was below in the quadrangle, one of the High Priest's maidservants came,And while Peter was down in the open square of the building, one of the servant-girls of the high priest came;
Mark 14:67and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and saith, Thou also wast with the Nazarene, [even] Jesus. and seeing Peter warming himself she looked at him and said, "You also were with Jesus, the Nazarene."And seeing Peter warming himself by the fire, she gave him a look, and said, You were with this Nazarene, even Jesus.
Mark 14:68But he denied, saying, I neither know, nor understand what thou sayest: and he went out into the porch; and the cock crew. But he denied it, and said, "I don't know I don't understand What do you mean?" And then he went out into the outer court. Just then a cock crowed. But he said, I have no knowledge of him, or of what you are saying: and he went out into the doorway; and there came the cry of a cock.
Mark 14:69And the maid saw him, and began again to say to them that stood by, This is [one] of them. Again the maidservant saw him, and again began to say to the people standing by, "He is one of them."And the girl saw him, and said again to those who were near, This is one of them.
Mark 14:70But he again denied it. And after a little while again they that stood by said to Peter, of a truth thou art [one] of them; for thou art a Galilaean. A second time he repeatedly denied it. Soon afterwards the bystanders again accused Peter, saying, "You are surely one of them, for you too are a Galilaean."But again he said it was not so. And after a little time, again those who were near said to Peter, Truly you are one of them; for you are a Galilaean.
Mark 14:71But he began to curse, and to swear, I know not this man of whom ye speak. But he broke out into curses and oaths, declaring, "I know nothing of the man you are talking about."But, with curses and oaths, he said, I have no knowledge of the man about whom you are talking.
Mark 14:72And straightway the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word, how that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept. No sooner had he spoken than a cock crowed for the second time, and Peter recollected the words of Jesus, "Before the cock crows twice, you will three times disown me." And as he thought of it, he wept aloud. And in the same minute, the cock gave a second cry. And it came to Peter's mind how Jesus had said to him, Before the cock's second cry, you will say three times that you have no knowledge of me. And at this thought he was overcome with weeping.
