Genesis 11:1And the whole earth was of one language and of one speech. And the earth was of one tongue, and of the same speech.
Genesis 11:2And it came to pass, as they journeyed east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. And when they removed from the east, they found a plain in the land of Sennaar, and dwelt in it.
Genesis 11:3And they said one to another, Come, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar. And each one said to his neighbour: Come, let us make brick, and bake them of stones, and slime instead of mortar.
Genesis 11:4And they said, Come, let us build us a city, and a tower, whose top [may reach] unto heaven, and let us make us a name; lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And they said: Come, let us make a city and a tower, the top whereof may reach to heaven: and let us make our name famous before we be scattered abroad into all lands.
Genesis 11:5And Jehovah came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of Adam were building.
Genesis 11:6And Jehovah said, Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is what they begin to do: and now nothing will be withholden from them, which they purpose to do. And he said: Behold, it is one people, and all have one tongue: and they have begun to do this, neither will they leave off from their designs, till they accomplish them in deed.
Genesis 11:7Come, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. Come ye, therefore, let us go down, and there may not understand one another's speech.
Genesis 11:8So Jehovah scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off building the city. And so the Lord scattered them from that place into all lands, and they ceased to build the city.
Genesis 11:9Therefore was the name of it called Babel; because Jehovah did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did Jehovah scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. And therefore the name thereof was called Babel, because there the language of the whole earth was confounded: and from thence the Lord scattered them abroad upon the face of all countries.
Genesis 11:10These are the generations of Shem. Shem was a hundred years old, and begat Arpachshad two years after the flood. These are the generations of Sem: Sem was a hundred years old when he begot Arphaxad, two years old when he begot Arphaxad, two years after the flood.
Genesis 11:11and Shem lived after he begat Arpachshad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. And Sem lived after he begot Arphaxad, five hundred years, and begot sons and daughters.

Genesis 11:14And Shelah lived thirty years, and begat Eber: Sale also lived thirty years, and begot Heber.
Genesis 11:15and Shelah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters. And Sale lived after he begot Heber, four hundred and three years; and begot sons and daughters.
Genesis 11:16And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg: And Heber lived thirty-four years, and begot Phaleg.
Genesis 11:17and Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters. And Heber lived after he begot Phaleg, four hundred and thirty years: and begot sons and daughters.
Genesis 11:18And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu: Phaleg also lived thirty years, and begot Reu.
Genesis 11:19and Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters. And Phaleg lived after he begot Reu, two hundred and nine years, and begot sons and daughters.
Genesis 11:20And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug: And Reu lived thirty-two years, and begot Sarug.
Genesis 11:21and Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters. And Reu lived after he begot Sarug, two hundred and seven years, and begot sons and daughters.

Genesis 11:28And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees. And Aran died before Thare his father, in the land of his nativity in Ur of the Chaldees.
Genesis 11:29And Abram and Nahor took them wives: The name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah. And Abram and Nachor married wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai: and the name of Nachor's wife, Melcha, the daughter of Aran, father of Melcha, and father of Jescha.
Genesis 11:30And Sarai was barren; She had no child. And Sarai was barren, and had no children.
Genesis 11:31And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran, his son's son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there. And Thare took Abram, his son, and Lot the son of Aran, his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, the wife of Abram his son, and brought them out of Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Chanaan: and they came as far as Haran, and dwelt there.
