Genesis 12:1Now Jehovah said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto the land that I will show thee: Now Yahweh said to Abram, "Get out of your country, and from your relatives, and from your father's house, to the land that I will show you.Now the Lord said to Abram, Go out from your country and from your family and from your father's house, into the land to which I will be your guide:
Genesis 12:2and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make they name great; and be thou a blessing; I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you, and make your name great. You will be a blessing.And I will make of you a great nation, blessing you and making your name great; and you will be a blessing:
Genesis 12:3and I will bless them that bless thee, and him that curseth thee will I curse: and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. In you will all of the families of the earth be blessed."To them who are good to you will I give blessing, and on him who does you wrong will I put my curse: and you will become a name of blessing to all the families of the earth.
Genesis 12:4So Abram went, as Jehovah had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. So Abram went, as Yahweh had spoken to him. Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed out of Haran.So Abram went as the Lord had said to him, and Lot went with him: Abram was seventy-five years old when he went away from Haran.
Genesis 12:5And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came. Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother's son, all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls who they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan. Into the land of Canaan they came.And Abram took Sarai, his wife, and Lot, his brother's son, and all their goods and the servants which they had got in Haran, and they went out to go to the land of Canaan.
Genesis 12:6And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Shechem, unto the oak of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land. Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. The Canaanite was then in the land.And Abram went through the land till he came to Shechem, to the holy tree of Moreh. At that time, the Canaanites were still living in the land.
Genesis 12:7And Jehovah appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto Jehovah, who appeared unto him. Yahweh appeared to Abram, and said, "To your descendants I will give this land." He built an altar there to Yahweh, who appeared to him.And the Lord came to Abram, and said, I will give all this land to your seed; then Abram made an altar there to the Lord who had let himself be seen by him.
Genesis 12:8And he removed from thence unto the mountain on the east of Beth-el, and pitched his tent, having Beth-el on the west, and Ai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto Jehovah, and called upon the name of Jehovah. He left from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to Yahweh, and called on the name of Yahweh.And moving on from there to the mountain on the east of Beth-el, he put up his tent, having Beth-el on the west and Ai on the east: and there he made an altar and gave worship to the name of the Lord.
Genesis 12:9And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the South. Abram journeyed, going on still toward the South.And he went on, journeying still to the South.
Genesis 12:10And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was sore in the land. There was a famine in the land. Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine was sore in the land.And because there was little food to be had in that land, he went down into Egypt.
Genesis 12:11And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon: It happened, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, "See now, I know that you are a beautiful woman to look on.Now when he came near to Egypt, he said to Sarai, his wife, Truly, you are a fair woman and beautiful to the eye;
Genesis 12:12and it will come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they will say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive. It will happen, when the Egyptians will see you, that they will say, 'This is his wife.' They will kill me, but they will save you alive.And I am certain that when the men of Egypt see you, they will say, This is his wife: and they will put me to death and keep you.
Genesis 12:13Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister; that it may be well with me for thy sake, and that my soul may live because of thee. Please say that you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that my soul may live because of you."Say, then, that you are my sister, and so it will be well with me because of you, and my life will be kept safe on your account.
Genesis 12:14And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair. It happened that when Abram had come into Egypt, the Egyptians saw that the woman was very beautiful.And so it was that when Abram came into Egypt, the men of Egypt, looking on the woman, saw that she was fair.
Genesis 12:15And the princes of Pharaoh saw her, and praised her to Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house. The princes of Pharaoh saw her, and praised her to Pharaoh; and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house.And Pharaoh's great men, having seen her, said words in praise of her to Pharaoh, and she was taken into Pharaoh's house.
Genesis 12:16And he dealt well with Abram for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he-asses, and men-servants, and maid-servants, and she-asses, and camels. He dealt well with Abram for her sake. He had sheep, and oxen, and he-asses, and men-servants, and maid-servants, and she-asses, and camels.And because of her, he was good to Abram, and he had sheep and oxen and asses, and men-servants and women-servants, and camels.
Genesis 12:17And Jehovah plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife. Yahweh plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife.And the Lord sent great troubles on Pharaoh's house because of Sarai, Abram's wife.
Genesis 12:18And Pharaoh called Abram, and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife? Pharaoh called Abram, and said, "What is this that you have done to me? Why didn't you tell me that she was your wife?Then Pharaoh sent for Abram, and said, What have you done to me? why did you not say that she was your wife?
Genesis 12:19why saidst thou, She is my sister, so that I took her to be my wife? now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way. Why did you say, 'She is my sister,' so that I took her to be my wife? Now therefore, see your wife, take her, and go your way."Why did you say that she was your sister? so that I took her for my wife: now, take your wife and go on your way.
Genesis 12:20And Pharaoh gave men charge concerning him: and they brought him on the way, and his wife, and all that he had. Pharaoh gave men charge concerning him: and they brought him on the way, and his wife, and all that he had.And Pharaoh gave orders to his men, and they sent him on his way, with his wife and all he had.
