John 13:1Now before the feast of the passover, Jesus knowing that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto his Father, having loved his own that were in the world, he loved them unto the end. Now before the feast of the Passover, Jesus knowing that his time had come that he would depart out of this world to his Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.Now before the feast of the passover, Jesus, knowing that his hour had come that he should depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, loved them to the end.
John 13:2And during supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's [son], to betray him, After supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him,And during supper, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas [son] of Simon, Iscariote, that he should deliver him up,
John 13:3[Jesus], knowing that the Father had given all the things into his hands, and that he came forth from God, and goeth unto God, Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came forth from God, and was going to God,[Jesus,] knowing that the Father had given him all things into his hands, and that he came out from God and was going to God,
John 13:4riseth from supper, and layeth aside his garments; and he took a towel, and girded himself. arose from supper, and laid aside his outer garments. He took a towel, and wrapped a towel around his waist.rises from supper and lays aside his garments, and having taken a linen towel he girded himself:
John 13:5Then he poureth water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. Then he poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.then he pours water into the washhand basin, and began to wash the feet of the disciples, and to wipe them with the linen towel with which he was girded.
John 13:6So he cometh to Simon Peter. He saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? Then he came to Simon Peter. He said to him, "Lord, do you wash my feet?"He comes therefore to Simon Peter; and *he* says to him, Lord, dost thou wash *my* feet?
John 13:7Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt understand hereafter. Jesus answered him, "You don't know what I am doing now, but you will understand later."Jesus answered and said to him, What I do thou dost not know now, but thou shalt know hereafter.
John 13:8Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. Peter said to him, "You will never wash my feet!" Jesus answered him, "If I don't wash you, you have no part with me."Peter says to him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, Unless I wash thee, thou hast not part with me.
John 13:9Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!"Simon Peter says to him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
John 13:10Jesus saith to him, He that is bathed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all. Jesus said to him, "Someone who has bathed only needs to have their feet washed, but is completely clean. You are clean, but not all of you."Jesus says to him, He that is washed all over needs not to wash save his feet, but is wholly clean; and ye are clean, but not all.
John 13:11For he knew him that should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean. For he knew him who would betray him, therefore he said, "You are not all clean."For he knew him that delivered him up: on account of this he said, Ye are not all clean.
John 13:12So when he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, and sat down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? So when he had washed their feet, put his outer garment back on, and sat down again, he said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you?When therefore he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, having sat down again, he said to them, Do ye know what I have done to you?
John 13:13Ye call me, Teacher, and, Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. You call me, 'Teacher' and 'Lord.' You say so correctly, for so I am.Ye call me the Teacher and the Lord, and ye say well, for I am [so].
John 13:14If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another's feet. If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.If I therefore, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another's feet;
John 13:15For I have given you an example, that ye also should do as I have done to you. For I have given you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.for I have given you an example that, as I have done to you, ye should do also.
John 13:16Verily, verily, I say unto you, a servant is not greater than his lord; neither one that is sent greater than he that sent him. Most assuredly I tell you, a servant is not greater than his lord, neither one who is sent greater than he who sent him.Verily, verily, I say to you, The bondman is not greater than his lord, nor the sent greater than he who has sent him.
John 13:17If ye know these things, blessed are ye if ye do them. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.If ye know these things, blessed are ye if ye do them.
John 13:18I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled: He that eateth my bread lifted up his heel against me. I speak not of you all. I know whom I have chosen. But that the scripture may be fulfilled, 'He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.'I speak not of you all. I know those whom I have chosen; but that the scripture might be fulfilled, He that eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.
John 13:19From henceforth I tell you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am [he]. From now on, I tell you before it happens, that when it happens, you may believe that I AM.I tell you [it] now before it happens, that when it happens, ye may believe that I am [he].
John 13:20Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. Most assuredly I tell you, he who receives whoever I send, receives me; and he who receives me, receives him who sent me."Verily, verily, I say to you, He who receives whomsoever I shall send receives me; and he that receives me receives him who has sent me.
John 13:21When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in the spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me. When Jesus had said this, he was troubled in the spirit, and testified, "Most assuredly I tell you that one of you will betray me."Having said these things, Jesus was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, Verily, verily, I say to you, that one of you shall deliver me up.
John 13:22The disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake. The disciples looked at one another, perplexed about whom he spoke.The disciples therefore looked one on another, doubting of whom he spoke.
John 13:23There was at the table reclining in Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved. One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was at the table, leaning against Jesus' breast.Now there was at table one of his disciples in the bosom of Jesus, whom Jesus loved.
John 13:24Simon Peter therefore beckoneth to him, and saith unto him, Tell [us] who it is of whom he speaketh. Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, and said to him, "Tell us who it is of whom he speaks."Simon Peter makes a sign therefore to him to ask who it might be of whom he spoke.
John 13:25He leaning back, as he was, on Jesus' breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it? He, leaning back, as he was, on Jesus' breast, asked him, "Lord, who is it?"But he, leaning on the breast of Jesus, says to him, Lord, who is it?
John 13:26Jesus therefore answereth, He it is, for whom I shall dip the sop, and give it him. So when he had dipped the sop, he taketh and giveth it to Judas, [the son] of Simon Iscariot. Jesus therefore answered, "It is he who I will give this morsel to when I have dipped it." So when he had dipped the morsel, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.Jesus answers, He it is to whom I, after I have dipped the morsel, give it. And having dipped the morsel, he gives it to Judas [son] of Simon, Iscariote.
John 13:27And after the sop, then entered Satan into him. Jesus therefore saith unto him, What thou doest, do quickly. After the morsel, then Satan entered into him. Jesus therefore said to him, "What you do, do quickly."And, after the morsel, then entered Satan into him. Jesus therefore says to him, What thou doest, do quickly.
John 13:28Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him. Now no man at the table knew why he said this to him.But none of those at table knew why he said this to him;
John 13:29For some thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus said unto him, Buy what things we have need of for the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor. For some thought, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus said to him, "Buy what things we need for the feast," or that he should give something to the poor.for some supposed, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus was saying to him, Buy the things of which we have need for the feast; or that he should give something to the poor.
John 13:30He then having received the sop went out straightway: and it was night. Therefore, having received that morsel, he went out immediately. It was night.Having therefore received the morsel, he went out immediately; and it was night.
John 13:31When therefore he was gone out, Jesus saith, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him;When he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in him.When therefore he was gone out Jesus says, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
John 13:32and God shall glorify him in himself, and straightway shall he glorify him. If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him immediately.If God be glorified in him, God also shall glorify him in himself, and shall glorify him immediately.
John 13:33Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say unto you. Little children, yet a little while I am with you. You will seek me, and as I said to the Jews, 'Where I am going, you can't come,' so now I tell you.Children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me; and, as I said to the Jews, Where I go ye cannot come, I say to you also now.
John 13:34A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; even as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just like I have loved you; that you also love one another.A new commandment I give to you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
John 13:35By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."By this shall all know that ye are disciples of mine, if ye have love amongst yourselves.
John 13:36Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered, Whither I go, thou canst not follow now; but thou shalt follow afterwards. Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus answered, "Where I am going, you can't follow now, but you will follow afterwards."Simon Peter says to him, Lord, where goest thou? Jesus answered him, Where I go thou canst not follow me now, but thou shalt follow me after.
John 13:37Peter saith unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee even now? I will lay down my life for thee. Peter said to him, "Lord, why can't I follow you even now? I will lay down my life for you."Peter says to him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thee.
John 13:38Jesus answereth, Wilt thou lay down thy life for me? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, till thou hast denied me thrice. Jesus answered him, "Will you lay down your life for me? Most assuredly I tell you, the rooster won't crow until you have denied me three times.Jesus answers, Thou wilt lay down thy life for me! Verily, verily, I say to thee, The cock shall not crow till thou hast denied me thrice.
