1st-Peter 1:1Peter, an Apostle of Jesus Christ, to the saints who are living in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the elect who are sojourners of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, Peter, apostle of Jesus Christ, to [the] sojourners of [the] dispersion of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
1st-Peter 1:2Who, through the purpose of God, have been made holy by the Spirit, disciples of Jesus, made clean by his blood: May you have grace and peace in full measure.according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied. elect according to [the] foreknowledge of God [the] Father, by sanctification of [the] Spirit, unto [the] obedience and sprinkling of [the] blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.
1st-Peter 1:3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who through his great mercy has given us a new birth and a living hope by the coming again of Jesus Christ from the dead,Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy begat us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his great mercy, has begotten us again to a living hope through [the] resurrection of Jesus Christ from among [the] dead,
1st-Peter 1:4And a heritage fair, holy and for ever new, waiting in heaven for you,unto an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, to an incorruptible and undefiled and unfading inheritance, reserved in [the] heavens for you,
1st-Peter 1:5Who, by the power of God are kept, through faith, for that salvation, which will be seen at the last day.who by the power of God are guarded through faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. who are kept guarded by [the] power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in [the] last time.
1st-Peter 1:6You have cause for great joy in this, though it may have been necessary for you to be troubled for a little time, being tested in all sorts of ways,Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, ye have been put to grief in manifold trials, Wherein ye exult, for a little while at present, if needed, put to grief by various trials,
1st-Peter 1:7So that the true metal of your faith, being of much greater value than gold (which, though it comes to an end, is tested by fire), may come to light in praise and glory and honour, at the revelation of Jesus Christ:that the proof of your faith, [being] more precious than gold that perisheth though it is proved by fire, may be found unto praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ: that the proving of your faith, much more precious than of gold which perishes, though it be proved by fire, be found to praise and glory and honour in [the] revelation of Jesus Christ:
1st-Peter 1:8To whom your love is given, though you have not seen him; and the faith which you have in him, though you do not see him now, gives you joy greater than words and full of glory:whom not having seen ye love; on whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice greatly with joy unspeakable and full of glory: whom, having not seen, ye love; on whom [though] not now looking, but believing, ye exult with joy unspeakable and filled with [the] glory,
1st-Peter 1:9For so you have the true end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.receiving the end of your faith, [even] the salvation of [your] souls. receiving the end of your faith, [the] salvation of [your] souls.
1st-Peter 1:10For the prophets who gave the news of the grace which would come to you, made search with all care for knowledge of this salvation;Concerning which salvation the prophets sought and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that [should come] unto you: Concerning which salvation prophets, who have prophesied of the grace towards you, sought out and searched out;
1st-Peter 1:11Attempting to see what sort of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them was pointing to, when it gave witness to the pains which Christ would undergo and the glories which would come after them.searching what [time] or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did point unto, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that should follow them. searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ which [was] in them pointed out, testifying before of the sufferings which [belonged] to Christ, and the glories after these.
1st-Peter 1:12And it was made clear to those prophets that they were God's servants not for themselves but for you, to give you word of the things which have now come to your ears from the preachers of the good news through the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven; things which even angels have a desire to see.To whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto you, did they minister these things, which now have been announced unto you through them that preached the gospel unto you by the Holy Spirit sent forth from heaven; which things angel desire to look into. To whom it was revealed, that not to themselves but to you they ministered those things, which have now been announced to you by those who have declared to you the glad tidings by [the] Holy Spirit, sent from heaven, which angels desire to look into.
1st-Peter 1:13So make your minds ready, and keep on the watch, hoping with all your power for the grace which is to come to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;Wherefore girding up the loins of your mind, be sober and set your hope perfectly on the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; Wherefore, having girded up the loins of your mind, [be] sober [and] hope with perfect stedfastness in the grace [which will be] brought to you at [the] revelation of Jesus Christ;
1st-Peter 1:14Like children ruled by God, do not go back to the old desires of the time when you were without knowledge:as children of obedience, not fashioning yourselves according to your former lusts in [the time of] your ignorance: as children of obedience, not conformed to [your] former lusts in your ignorance;
1st-Peter 1:15But be holy in every detail of your lives, as he, whose servants you are, is holy;but like as he who called you is holy, be ye yourselves also holy in all manner of living; but as he who has called you is holy, be ye also holy in all [your] conversation;
1st-Peter 1:16Because it has been said in the Writings, You are to be holy, for I am holy.because it is written, Ye shall be holy; for I am holy. because it is written, Be ye holy, for *I* am holy.
1st-Peter 1:17And if you give the name of Father to him who, judging every man by his acts, has no respect for a man's position, then go in fear while you are on this earth:And if ye call on him as Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to each man's work, pass the time of your sojourning in fear: And if ye invoke as Father him who, without regard of persons, judges according to the work of each, pass your time of sojourn in fear,
1st-Peter 1:18Being conscious that you have been made free from that foolish way of life which was your heritage from your fathers, not through a payment of things like silver or gold which come to destruction,knowing that ye were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers; knowing that ye have been redeemed, not by corruptible [things, as] silver or gold, from your vain conversation handed down from [your] fathers,
1st-Peter 1:19But through holy blood, like that of a clean and unmarked lamb, even the blood of Christ:but with precious blood, as of a lamb without spot, [even the blood] of Christ: but by precious blood, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, [the blood] of Christ,
1st-Peter 1:20Who was marked out by God before the making of the world, but was caused to be seen in these last times for you,who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but was manifested at the end of times for your sake, foreknown indeed before [the] foundation of [the] world, but who has been manifested at the end of times for your sakes,
1st-Peter 1:21Who through him have faith in God who took him up again from the dead into glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God.who through him are believers in God, that raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God. who by him do believe on God, who has raised him from among [the] dead and given him glory, that your faith and hope should be in God.
1st-Peter 1:22And as you have made your souls clean, being ruled by what is true, and loving one another without deceit, see that your love is warm and from the heart:Seeing ye have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth unto unfeigned love of the brethren, love one another from the heart fervently: Having purified your souls by obedience to the truth to unfeigned brotherly love, love one another out of a pure heart fervently;
1st-Peter 1:23Because you have had a new birth, not from the seed of man, but from eternal seed, through the word of a living and unchanging God.having been begotten again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which liveth and abideth. being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by [the] living and abiding word of God.
1st-Peter 1:24For it is said, All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flower of the grass. The grass becomes dry and the flower dead:For, All flesh is as grass, And all the glory thereof as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower falleth: Because all flesh [is] as grass, and all its glory as [the] flower of grass. The grass has withered and [its] flower has fallen;
1st-Peter 1:25But the word of the Lord is eternal. And this is the word of the good news which was given to you.But the word of the Lord abideth for ever. And this is the word of good tidings which was preached unto you. but the word of [the] Lord abides for eternity. But this is the word which in the glad tidings [is] preached to you.
