Mark 14:1It was now two days before the feast of the Passover and the unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes made designs how they might take him by deceit and put him to death:Now after two days was [the feast of] the passover and the unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him with subtlety, and kill him: After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests, and the scribes, sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.
Mark 14:2But they said, Not while the feast is going on, for fear there may be trouble among the people.for they said, Not during the feast, lest haply there shall be a tumult of the people. But they said, Not on the feast-day, lest there should be an uproar of the people.
Mark 14:3And while he was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, seated at table, there came a woman with a bottle of perfumed oil of great price; and when the bottle was broken she put the perfume on his head.And while he was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster cruse of ointment of pure nard very costly; [and] she brake the cruse, and poured it over his head. And being in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at table, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard, very precious; and she broke the box, and poured it on his head.
Mark 14:4But some of them were angry among themselves, saying, For what purpose has this oil been wasted?But there were some that had indignation among themselves, [saying], To what purpose hath this waste of the ointment been made? And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?
Mark 14:5We might have got more than three hundred pence for it, and given the money to the poor. And they said things against her among themselves.For this ointment might have been sold for above three hundred shillings, and given to the poor. And they murmured against her. For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.
Mark 14:6But Jesus said, Let her be; why are you troubling her? she has done a kind act to me.But Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.
Mark 14:7The poor you have ever with you, and whenever you have the desire you may do them good: but me you have not for ever.For ye have the poor always with you, and whensoever ye will ye can do them good: but me ye have not always. For ye have the poor with you always, and whenever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.
Mark 14:8She has done what she was able: she has put oil on my body to make it ready for its last resting-place.She hath done what she could; she hath anointed my body beforehand for the burying. She hath done what she could: she is come beforehand to anoint my body to the burying.
Mark 14:9And truly I say to you, Wherever the good news goes out through all the earth, what this woman has done will be talked of in memory of her.And verily I say unto you, Wheresoever the gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, that also which this woman hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her. Verily I say to you, Wherever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of, for a memorial of her.
Mark 14:10And Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went away to the chief priests, so that he might give him up to them.And Judas Iscariot, he that was one of the twelve, went away unto the chief priests, that he might deliver him unto them. And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests, to betray him to them.
Mark 14:11And hearing what he said, they were glad, and gave him their word to make him a payment of money. And he took thought how he might best give him up to them.And they, when they heard it, were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently deliver him [unto them]. And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.
Mark 14:12And on the first day of unleavened bread, when the Passover lamb is put to death, his disciples said to him, Where are we to go and make ready for you to take the Passover meal?And on the first day of unleavened bread, when they sacrificed the passover, his disciples say unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and make ready that thou mayest eat the passover? And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said to him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare, that thou mayest eat the passover?
Mark 14:13And he sent two of his disciples, and said to them, Go into the town, and there will come to you a man with a vessel of water: go after him;And he sendeth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him; And he sendeth two of his disciples, and saith to them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.
Mark 14:14And wherever he goes in, say to the owner of the house, The Master says, Where is my guest-room, where I may take the Passover with my disciples?and wheresoever he shall enter in, say to the master of the house, The Teacher saith, Where is my guest-chamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? And wherever he shall go in, say ye to the master of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guest-chamber, where I may eat the passover with my disciples?
Mark 14:15And he will take you up himself to a great room with a table and seats: there make ready for us.And he will himself show you a large upper room furnished [and] ready: and there make ready for us. And he will show you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.
Mark 14:16And the disciples went out and came into the town, and saw that it was as he had said: and they made ready the Passover.And the disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover. Mark 14:17And when it was evening he came with the twelve.And when it was evening he cometh with the twelve. And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.
Mark 14:18And while they were seated taking food, Jesus said, Truly I say to you, One of you will be false to me, one who is taking food with me.And as they sat and were eating, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you shall betray me, [even] he that eateth with me. And as they sat, and were eating, Jesus said, Verily I say to you, One of you who eateth with me, will betray me.
Mark 14:19They were sad, and said to him one by one, Is it I?They began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? And they began to be sorrowful, and to say to him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?
Mark 14:20And he said to them, It is one of the twelve, one who is putting his bread with me into the same plate.And he said unto them, [It is] one of the twelve, he that dippeth with me in the dish. And he answered and said to them, It is one of the twelve that dippeth with me in the dish.
Mark 14:21The Son of man goes, even as the Writings say of him: but cursed is that man through whom the Son of man is given up! It would have been well for that man if he had never been given birth.For the Son of man goeth, even as it is written of him: but woe unto that man through whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had not been born. The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written concerning him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.
Mark 14:22And while they were taking food, he took bread, and after blessing it, he gave the broken bread to them, and said, Take it: this is my body.And as they were eating, he took bread, and when he had blessed, he brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take ye: this is my body. And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
Mark 14:23And he took a cup, and when he had given praise, he gave it to them: and they all had a drink from it.And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave to them: and they all drank of it. And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.
Mark 14:24And he said to them, This is my blood of the testament, which is given for men.And he said unto them, This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. And he said to them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.
Mark 14:25Truly I say to you, I will take no more of the fruit of the vine till the day when I take it new in the kingdom of God.Verily I say unto you, I shall no more drink of the fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God. Verily I say to you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
Mark 14:26And after a song of praise to God they went out to the Mountain of Olives.And when they had sung a hymn, they went out unto the mount of Olives. And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the mount of Olives.
Mark 14:27And Jesus said to them, You will all be turned away from me: for it is in the Writings, I will put the keeper of the sheep to death, and the sheep will be put to flight.And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered abroad. And Jesus saith to them, All ye will be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.
Mark 14:28But after I have come back from the dead, I will go before you into Galilee.Howbeit, after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee. But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.
Mark 14:29But Peter said to him, Though the others may be turned away from you, I will not.But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I. But Peter said to him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I.
Mark 14:30And Jesus said to him, Truly, I say to you that you, today, even this night, before the cock's second cry, will say three times that you have no knowledge of me.And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, that thou to-day, [even] this night, before the cock crow twice, shalt deny me thrice. And Jesus saith to him, Verily I say to thee, that this day, even in this night, before the cock shall crow twice, thou wilt deny me thrice.
Mark 14:31But he said with passion, If I have to be put to death with you, I will not be false to you. And they all said the same.But he spake exceedingly vehemently, If I must die with thee, I will not deny thee. And in like manner also said they all. But he spoke the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.
Mark 14:32And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he said to his disciples, Be seated here while I say a prayer.And they come unto a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith unto his disciples, Sit ye here, while I pray. And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.
Mark 14:33And he took with him Peter and James and John, and grief and great trouble came on him.And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly amazed, and sore troubled. And he taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and began to be greatly amazed, and to be very heavy;
Mark 14:34And he said to them, My soul is very sad, even to death: be here a little time, and keep watch.And he saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful even unto death: abide ye here, and watch. And saith to them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful to death: tarry ye here, and watch.
Mark 14:35And he went forward a little, and falling down on the earth, made request that, if possible, the hour might go from him.And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him. Mark 14:37And he came, and saw them sleeping, and said to Peter, Simon, are you sleeping? were you not able to keep watch one hour?And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest thou not watch one hour? And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith to Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldst not thou watch one hour?
Mark 14:38Keep watch with prayer, so that you may not be put to the test; the spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is feeble.Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
Mark 14:39And again he went away, and said a prayer, using the same words.And again he went away, and prayed, saying the same words. And again he went away, and prayed, and spoke the same words.
Mark 14:40And again he came and saw them sleeping, because their eyes were very tired; and they had nothing to say in answer.And again he came, and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy; and they knew not what to answer him. And when he returned, he found them asleep again (for their eyes were heavy:) neither knew they what to answer him.
Mark 14:41And he came the third time, and said to them, Go on sleeping now and take your rest: it is enough; the hour has come; see, the Son of man is given up into the hands of evil men.And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough; the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. And he cometh the third time, and saith to them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
Mark 14:42Get up, let us be going; see, he who gives me up is near.Arise, let us be going: behold, he that betrayeth me is at hand. Rise, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.
Mark 14:43And straight away, while he was still talking, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great band with swords and sticks, from the chief priests and the scribes and those in authority.And straightway, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. And immediately while he was yet speaking, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staffs, from the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders.
Mark 14:44Now he who had been false to him had given them a sign, saying, The one to whom I give a kiss, that is he; take him, and get him away safely.Now he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he; take him, and lead him away safely. And he that betrayed him, had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.
Mark 14:45And when he had come, he went straight to him and said, Master; and gave him a kiss.And when he was come, straightway he came to him, and saith, Rabbi; and kissed him. And as soon as he was come, he goeth immediately to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.
Mark 14:46And they put their hands on him, and took him.And they laid hands on him, and took him. And they laid their hands on him, and took him.
Mark 14:47But a certain one of those who were near took out his sword, and gave the servant of the high priest a blow, cutting off his ear.But a certain one of them that stood by drew his sword, and smote the servant of the high priest, and struck off his ear. And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
Mark 14:48And Jesus said to them, Have you come out as against a thief, with swords and sticks to take me?And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a robber, with swords and staves to seize me? And Jesus answered and said to them, Have ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staffs to take me?
Mark 14:49I was with you every day in the Temple teaching, and you did not take me; but this is done so that the Writings may come true.I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but [this is done] that the scriptures might be fulfilled. I was daily with you in the temple, teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.
Mark 14:50And they all went away from him in fear.And they all left him, and fled. And they all forsook him, and fled.
Mark 14:51And a certain young man went after him, with only a linen cloth about his body; and they put their hands on him;And a certain young man followed with him, having a linen cloth cast about him, over [his] naked [body]: and they lay hold on him; And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him.
Mark 14:52But he got away unclothed, without the linen cloth.but he left the linen cloth, and fled naked. And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.
Mark 14:53And they took Jesus away to the high priest; and there came together with him all the chief priests and those in authority and the scribes.And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and there come together with him all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes. And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests, and the elders and the scribes.
Mark 14:54And Peter had come after him at a distance, even into the house of the high priest; and he was seated with the captains, warming himself in the light of the fire.And Peter had followed him afar off, even within, into the court of the high priest; and he was sitting with the officers, and warming himself in the light [of the fire]. And Peter followed him at a distance, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.
Mark 14:55Now the chief priests and all the Sanhedrin were looking for witness against Jesus so that they might put him to death; and they were unable to get any.Now the chief priests and the whole council sought witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found it not. And the chief priests, and all the council sought for testimony against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.
Mark 14:56For a number gave false witness against him and their witness was not in agreement.For many bare false witness against him, and their witness agreed not together. For many bore false testimony against him, but their testimony agreed not together.
Mark 14:57Then some got up and gave false witness against him, saying,And there stood up certain, and bare false witness against him, saying, And there arose certain, and bore false testimony against him, saying,
Mark 14:58He said in our hearing, I will put an end to this Temple which is made with hands, and in three days I will make another without hands.We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands. We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.
Mark 14:59And even so their witness was not in agreement.And not even so did their witness agree together. But neither so did their testimony agree together.
Mark 14:60And the high priest got up in the middle of them, and said to Jesus, Do you say nothing in answer? what is it which these say against you?And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these testify against thee?
Mark 14:61But he kept quiet and said nothing. Again the high priest questioning him said, Are you the Christ, the son of the Holy One?But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and saith unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said to him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
Mark 14:62And Jesus said, I am: and you will see the Son of man seated at the right hand of power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven. And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
Mark 14:63And the high priest, violently parting his robes, said, What more need have we of witnesses?And the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What further need have we of witnesses? Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?
Mark 14:64His words against God have come to your ears: what is your opinion? And they all said it was right for him to be put to death.Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be worthy of death. Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.
Mark 14:65And some put shame on him and, covering his face, gave him blows and said to him, Now say what is to come: and the captains took him and gave him blows with their hands.And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the officers received him with blows of their hands. And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say to him, Prophesy: and the servants struck him with the palms of their hands.
Mark 14:66And while Peter was down in the open square of the building, one of the servant-girls of the high priest came;And as Peter was beneath in the court, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest; And as Peter was below in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:
Mark 14:67And seeing Peter warming himself by the fire, she gave him a look, and said, You were with this Nazarene, even Jesus.and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and saith, Thou also wast with the Nazarene, [even] Jesus. And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.
Mark 14:68But he said, I have no knowledge of him, or of what you are saying: and he went out into the doorway; and there came the cry of a cock.But he denied, saying, I neither know, nor understand what thou sayest: and he went out into the porch; and the cock crew. But he denied, saying, I know not, neither do I understand what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crowed.
Mark 14:69And the girl saw him, and said again to those who were near, This is one of them.And the maid saw him, and began again to say to them that stood by, This is [one] of them. And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.
Mark 14:70But again he said it was not so. And after a little time, again those who were near said to Peter, Truly you are one of them; for you are a Galilaean.But he again denied it. And after a little while again they that stood by said to Peter, of a truth thou art [one] of them; for thou art a Galilaean. And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.
Mark 14:71But, with curses and oaths, he said, I have no knowledge of the man about whom you are talking.But he began to curse, and to swear, I know not this man of whom ye speak. But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.
Mark 14:72And in the same minute, the cock gave a second cry. And it came to Peter's mind how Jesus had said to him, Before the cock's second cry, you will say three times that you have no knowledge of me. And at this thought he was overcome with weeping.And straightway the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word, how that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept. And the second time the cock crowed. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said to him, Before the cock shall crow twice, thou wilt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.
