1st-Peter 4:1So that as Jesus was put to death in the flesh, do you yourselves be of the same mind; for the death of the flesh puts an end to sin;Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm ye yourselves also with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; Forasmuch then as Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind; for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;
1st-Peter 4:2So that you may give the rest of your lives in the flesh, not to the desires of men, but to the purpose of God.that ye no longer should live the rest of your time in flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. that you no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
1st-Peter 4:3Because for long enough, in times past, we have been living after the way of the Gentiles, given up to the desires of the flesh, to drinking and feasting and loose behaviour and unclean worship of images;For the time past may suffice to have wrought the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, winebibbings, revellings, carousings, and abominable idolatries: For we have spent enough of our past time living in doing the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, drunken binges, orgies, carousings, and abominable idolatries.
1st-Peter 4:4And they are wondering that you no longer go with them in this violent wasting of life, and are saying evil things of you:wherein they think strange that ye run not with [them] into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of [you]: They think it is strange that you don't run with them into the same excess of riot, blaspheming:
1st-Peter 4:5But they will have to give an account of themselves to him who is ready to be the judge of the living and the dead.who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead. who will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
1st-Peter 4:6For this was the reason why the good news of Jesus was given even to the dead, so that they might be judged as men in the flesh, but might be living before God in the spirit.For unto this end was the gospel preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. For to this end was the gospel preached even to the dead, that they might be judged indeed as men in the flesh, but live as to God in the spirit.
1st-Peter 4:7But the end of all things is near: so be serious in your behaviour and keep on the watch with prayer;But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore of sound mind, and be sober unto prayer: But the end of all things is near. Therefore be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober in prayer.
1st-Peter 4:8And most of all be warm in your love for one another; because in love there is forgiveness for sins without number:above all things being fervent in your love among yourselves; for love covereth a multitude of sins: And above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins.
1st-Peter 4:9Keep open house for all with a glad heart;using hospitality one to another without murmuring: Be hospitable one to another without grumbling.
1st-Peter 4:10Making distribution among one another of whatever has been given to you, like true servants of the unmeasured grace of God;according as each hath received a gift, ministering it among yourselves, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God; According as each has received a gift, be ministering it among yourselves, as good stewards of the grace of God in its various forms.
1st-Peter 4:11If anyone has anything to say, let it be as the words of God; if anyone has the desire to be the servant of others, let him do it in the strength which is given by God; so that in all things God may have the glory through Jesus Christ, whose are the glory and the power for ever.if any man speaketh, [speaking] as it were oracles of God; is any man ministereth, [ministering] as of the strength which God supplieth: that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, whose is the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen. If any man speaks, let it be as it were oracles of God. If any man serves, let it be as of the strength which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, whose is the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
1st-Peter 4:12Dear brothers, do not be surprised, as if it was something strange, if your faith is tested as by fire:Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial among you, which cometh upon you to prove you, as though a strange thing happened unto you: Beloved, don't be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you, to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you.
1st-Peter 4:13But be glad that you are given a part in the pains of Christ; so that at the revelation of his glory you may have great joy.but insomuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exceeding joy. But because you are partakers of Christ's sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory also you may rejoice with exceeding joy.
1st-Peter 4:14If men say evil things of you because of the name of Christ, happy are you; for the Spirit of glory and of God is resting on you.If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed [are ye]; because the [Spirit] of glory and the Spirit of God resteth upon you. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, blessed are you; because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. On their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.
1st-Peter 4:15Let no one among you undergo punishment as a taker of life, or as a thief, or as an evil-doer, or as one who is over-interested in other men's business;For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil-doer, or as a meddler in other men's matters: For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil doer, or as a meddler in other men's matters.
1st-Peter 4:16But if he undergoes punishment as a Christian, that is no shame to him; let him give glory to God in this name.but if [a man suffer] as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name. But if one of you suffers for being a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this matter.
1st-Peter 4:17For the time has come for the judging, starting with the church of God; but if it makes a start with us, what will be the end of those who are not under the rule of God?For the time [is come] for judgment to begin at the house of God: and if [it begin] first at us, what [shall be] the end of them that obey not the gospel of God? For the time [has come] for judgment to begin at the house of God. If it begins first at us, what will happen to those who don't obey the gospel of God?
1st-Peter 4:18And if it is hard for even the good man to get salvation, what chance has the man without religion or the sinner?And if the righteous is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear? "If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will happen to the ungodly and the sinner?"
1st-Peter 4:19For this reason let those who by the purpose of God undergo punishment, keep on in well-doing and put their souls into the safe hands of their Maker.Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing unto a faithful Creator. Therefore let them also who suffer according to the will of God in doing good entrust their souls to him, as to a faithful Creator.
