John 16:1I have said these things to you so that you may not be in doubt.These things I have spoken unto you that ye may not be offended.These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be caused to stumble.
John 16:2They will put you out of the Synagogues: yes, the time is coming when whoever puts you to death will have the belief that he is doing God's pleasure.They shall put you out of the synagogues; but the hour is coming that every one who kills you will think to render service to God;They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you shall think that he offereth service unto God.
John 16:3They will do these things to you because they have not had knowledge of the Father or of me.and these things they will do because they have not known the Father nor me.And these things will they do, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
John 16:4I have said these things to you so that when the time comes, what I have said may come to your mind. I did not say them to you at the first, because then I was still with you.But I have spoken these things to you, that when their hour shall have come, ye may remember them, that I have said [them] unto you. But I did not say these things unto you from [the] beginning, because I was with you.But these things have I spoken unto you, that when their hour is come, ye may remember them, how that I told you. And these things I said not unto you from the beginning, because I was with you.
John 16:5But now I am going to him who sent me; and not one of you says to me, Where are you going?But now I go to him that has sent me, and none of you demands of me, Where goest thou?But now I go unto him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
John 16:6But your hearts are full of sorrow because I have said these things.But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.But because I have spoken these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
John 16:7But what I am saying is true: my going is for your good: for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.But I say the truth to you, It is profitable for you that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I go I will send him to you.Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I go, I will send him unto you.
John 16:8And he, when he comes, will make the world conscious of sin, and of righteousness, and of being judged:And having come, he will bring demonstration to the world, of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:And he, when he is come, will convict the world in respect of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
John 16:9Of sin, because they have not faith in me;of sin, because they do not believe on me;of sin, because they believe not on me;
John 16:10Of righteousness, because I go to the Father and you will see me no more;of righteousness, because I go away to [my] Father, and ye behold me no longer;of righteousness, because I go to the Father, and ye behold me no more;
John 16:11Of being judged, because the ruler of this world has been judged.of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.of judgment, because the prince of this world hath been judged.
John 16:12I have still much to say to you, but you are not strong enough for it now.I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now.I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
John 16:13However, when he, the Spirit of true knowledge, has come, he will be your guide into all true knowledge: for his words will not come from himself, but whatever has come to his hearing, that he will say: and he will make clear to you the things to come.But when *he* is come, the Spirit of truth, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but whatsoever he shall hear he shall speak; and he will announce to you what is coming.Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he shall guide you into all the truth: for he shall not speak from himself; but what things soever he shall hear, [these] shall he speak: and he shall declare unto you the things that are to come.
John 16:14He will give me glory, because he will take of what is mine, and make it clear to you.He shall glorify me, for he shall receive of mine and shall announce [it] to you.He shall glorify me: for he shall take of mine, and shall declare [it] unto you.
John 16:15Everything which the Father has is mine: that is why I say, He will take of what is mine and will make it clear to you.All things that the Father has are mine; on account of this I have said that he receives of mine and shall announce [it] to you.All things whatsoever the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he taketh of mine, and shall declare [it] unto you.
John 16:16After a little time you will see me no longer; and then again, after a little time, you will see me.A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me, [because I go away to the Father].A little while, and ye behold me no more; and again a little while, and ye shall see me.
John 16:17So some of the disciples said one to another, What is this he is saying, After a little time, you will see me no longer; and then again, after a little time, you will see me? and, I am going to the Father?[Some] of his disciples therefore said to one another, What is this he says to us, A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me, and, Because I go away to the Father?[Some] of his disciples therefore said one to another, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye behold me not; and again a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?
John 16:18So they said again and again, What is this he is saying, A little time? His words are not clear to us.They said therefore, What is this which he says [of] the little while? We do not know [of] what he speaks.They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? We know not what he saith.
John 16:19Jesus saw that they had a desire to put the question to him, so he said to them, Is this what you are questioning one with another, why I said, After a little time, you will see me no longer; and then again, after a little time, you will see me?Jesus knew therefore that they desired to demand of him, and said to them, Do ye inquire of this among yourselves that I said, A little while and ye do not behold me; and again a little while and ye shall see me?Jesus perceived that they were desirous to ask him, and he said unto them, Do ye inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, A little while, and ye behold me not, and again a little while, and ye shall see me?
John 16:20Truly I say to you, You will be weeping and sorrowing, but the world will be glad: you will be sad, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.Verily, verily, I say to you, that ye shall weep and lament, ye, but the world shall rejoice; and ye will be grieved, but your grief shall be turned to joy.Verily, verily, I say unto you, that ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
John 16:21When a woman is about to give birth she has sorrow, because her hour is come; but when she has given birth to the child, the pain is put out of her mind by the joy that a man has come into the world.A woman, when she gives birth to a child, has grief because her hour has come; but when the child is born, she no longer remembers the trouble, on account of the joy that a man has been born into the world.A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but when she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for the joy that a man is born into the world.
John 16:22So you have sorrow now: but I will see you again, and your hearts will be glad, and no one will take away your joy.And ye now therefore have grief; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one takes from you.And ye therefore now have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one taketh away from you.
John 16:23And on that day you will put no questions to me. Truly I say to you, Whatever request you make to the Father, he will give it to you in my name.And in that day ye shall demand nothing of me: verily, verily, I say to you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give you.And in that day ye shall ask me no question. Verily, verily, I say unto you, if ye shall ask anything of the Father, he will give it you in my name.
John 16:24Up to now you have made no request in my name: do so, and it will be answered, so that your hearts may be full of joy.Hitherto ye have asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be made full.
John 16:25All this I have said to you in veiled language: but the time is coming when I will no longer say things in veiled language but will give you knowledge of the Father clearly.These things I have spoken to you in allegories; the hour is coming that I will no longer speak to you in allegories, but will declare to you openly concerning the Father.These things have I spoken unto you in dark sayings: the hour cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in dark sayings, but shall tell you plainly of the Father.
John 16:26In that day you will make requests in my name: and I do not say that I will make prayer to the Father for you,In that day ye shall ask in my name; and I say not to you that I will demand of the Father for you,In that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you;
John 16:27For the Father himself gives his love to you, because you have given your love to me and have had faith that I came from God.for the Father himself has affection for you, because ye have had affection for me, and have believed that I came out from God.for the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from the Father.
John 16:28I came out from the Father and have come into the world: again, I go away from the world and go to the Father.I came out from the Father and have come into the world; again, I leave the world and go to the Father.I came out from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go unto the Father.
John 16:29His disciples said, Now you are talking clearly and not in veiled language.His disciples say to him, Lo, now thou speakest openly and utterest no allegory.His disciples say, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no dark saying.
John 16:30Now we are certain that you have knowledge of all things and have no need for anyone to put questions to you: through this we have faith that you came from God.Now we know that thou knowest all things, and hast not need that any one should demand of thee. By this we believe that thou art come from God.Now know we that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
John 16:31Jesus made answer, Have you faith now?Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
John 16:32See, a time is coming, yes, it is now here, when you will go away in all directions, every man to his house, and I will be by myself: but I am not by myself, because the Father is with me.Behold, [the] hour is coming, and has come, that ye shall be scattered, each to his own, and shall leave me alone; and [yet] I am not alone, for the Father is with me.Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and [yet] I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
John 16:33I have said all these things to you so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble: but take heart! I have overcome the world.These things have I spoken to you that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye have tribulation; but be of good courage: I have overcome the world.These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye may have peace. In the world ye have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
