Matthew 17:1And after six days Jesus takes with him Peter, and James, and John, his brother, and makes them go up with him into a high mountain by themselves.And after six days Jesus takes with [him] Peter, and James, and John his brother, and brings them up into a high mountain apart.And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart:
Matthew 17:2And he was changed in form before them; and his face was shining like the sun, and his clothing became white as light.And he was transfigured before them. And his face shone as the sun, and his garments became white as the light;and he was transfigured before them; and his face did shine as the sun, and his garments became white as the light.
Matthew 17:3And Moses and Elijah came before their eyes, talking with him.and lo, Moses and Elias appeared to them talking with him.And behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elijah talking with him.
Matthew 17:4And Peter made answer and said to Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if you will let me, I will make here three tents, one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.And Peter answering said to Jesus, Lord, it is good we should be here. If thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles: for thee one, and for Moses one, and one for Elias.And Peter answered, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, I will make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
Matthew 17:5While he was still talking, a bright cloud came over them: and a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my dearly loved Son, with whom I am well pleased; give ear to him.While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and lo, a voice out of the cloud, saying, *This* is my beloved Son, in whom I have found my delight: hear him.While he was yet speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
Matthew 17:6And at these words the disciples went down on their faces in great fear.And the disciples hearing [it] fell upon their faces, and were greatly terrified.And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
Matthew 17:7And Jesus came and put his hand on them and said, Get up and have no fear.And Jesus coming to [them] touched them, and said, Rise up, and be not terrified.And Jesus came and touched them and said, Arise, and be not afraid.
Matthew 17:8And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, but Jesus only.And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus alone.And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one, save Jesus only.
Matthew 17:9And when they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus gave them orders, saying, Let no man have word of what you have seen, till the Son of man has come again from the dead.And as they descended from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no one, until the Son of man be risen up from among [the] dead.And as they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen from the dead.
Matthew 17:10And his disciples, questioning him, said, Why then do the scribes say that Elijah has to come first?And [his] disciples demanded of him saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first have come?And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elijah must first come?
Matthew 17:11And in answer he said, Elijah truly has to come and put all things right:And he answering said to them, Elias indeed comes first and will restore all things.And he answered and said, Elijah indeed cometh, and shall restore all things:
Matthew 17:12But I say to you that Elijah has come, and they had no knowledge of him, but did to him whatever they were pleased to do; the same will the Son of man undergo at their hands.But I say unto you that Elias has already come, and they have not known him, but have done unto him whatever they would. Thus also the Son of man is about to suffer from them.but I say unto you, that Elijah is come already, and they knew him not, but did unto him whatsoever they would. Even so shall the Son of man also suffer of them.
Matthew 17:13Then the disciples saw that he was talking to them of John the Baptist.Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them of John the baptist.Then understood the disciples that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.
Matthew 17:14And when they came to the people, a man went down on his knees to him, saying,And when they came to the crowd, a man came to him, falling on his knees before him, and saying,And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a man, kneeling to him, saying,
Matthew 17:15Lord have mercy on my son: for he is off his head, and is in great pain; and frequently he goes falling into the fire, and frequently into the water.Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is lunatic, and suffers sorely; for often he falls into the fire and often into the water.Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is epileptic, and suffereth grievously; for oft-times he falleth into the fire, and off-times into the water.
Matthew 17:16And I took him to your disciples, and they were not able to make him well.And I brought him to thy disciples, and they were not able to heal him.And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
Matthew 17:17And Jesus, answering, said, O false and foolish generation, how long will I be with you? how long will I put up with you? let him come here to me.And Jesus answering said, O unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to me.And Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him hither to me.
Matthew 17:18And Jesus gave orders to the unclean spirit, and it went out of him: and the boy was made well from that hour.And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon went out from him, and the boy was healed from that hour.And Jesus rebuked him; and the demon went out of him: and the boy was cured from that hour.
Matthew 17:19Then the disciples came to Jesus privately, and said, Why were we not able to send it out?Then the disciples, coming to Jesus apart, said [to him], Why were not *we* able to cast him out?Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast it out?
Matthew 17:20And he says to them, Because of your little faith: for truly I say to you, If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Be moved from this place to that; and it will be moved; and nothing will be impossible to you.And he says to them, Because of your unbelief; for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard [seed], ye shall say to this mountain, Be transported hence there, and it shall transport itself; and nothing shall be impossible to you.And he saith unto them, Because of your little faith: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Matthew 17:21[]But this kind does not go out but by prayer and fasting.[But this kind goeth not out save by prayer and fasting.]
Matthew 17:22And while they were going about in Galilee, Jesus said to them, The Son of man will be given up into the hands of men;And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said to them, The Son of man is about to be delivered up into [the] hands of men,And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be delivered up into the hands of men;
Matthew 17:23And they will put him to death, and the third day he will come again from the dead. And they were very sad.and they shall kill him; and the third day he shall be raised up. And they were greatly grieved.and they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised up. And they were exceeding sorry.
Matthew 17:24And when they had come to Capernaum, those who took the Temple tax came to Peter and said, Does not your master make payment of the Temple tax?And when they came to Capernaum, those who received the didrachmas came to Peter and said, Does your teacher not pay the didrachmas?And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received the half-shekel came to Peter, and said, Doth not your teacher pay the half-shekel?
Matthew 17:25He says, Yes. And when he came into the house, Jesus said to him, What is your opinion, Simon? from whom do the kings of the earth get payment or tax? from their sons or from other people?He says, Yes. And when he came into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, What dost thou think, Simon? the kings of the earth, from whom do they receive custom or tribute? from their own sons or from strangers?He saith, Yea. And when he came into the house, Jesus spake first to him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? the kings of the earth, from whom do they receive toll or tribute? from their sons, or from strangers?
Matthew 17:26And when he said, From other people, Jesus said to him, Then are the sons free.Peter says to him, From strangers. Jesus said to him, Then are the sons free.And when he said, From strangers, Jesus said unto him, Therefore the sons are free.
Matthew 17:27But, so that we may not be a cause of trouble to them, go to the sea, and let down a hook, and take the first fish which comes up; and in his mouth you will see a bit of money: take that, and give it to them for me and you.But that we may not be an offence to them, go to the sea and cast a hook, and take the first fish that comes up, and when thou hast opened its mouth thou wilt find a stater; take that and give it to them for me and thee.But, lest we cause them to stumble, go thou to the sea, and cast a hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a shekel: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
