Titus 3:1 | Make clear to them that they are to put themselves under rulers and authorities, to do what they are ordered, to be ready for every good work, | Put them in mind to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient to rule, to be ready to do every good work, | Admonish them to be subject to princes and powers, to obey at a word, to be ready to every good work. |
Titus 3:2 | To say no evil of any man, not to be fighters, to give way to others, to be gentle in behaviour to all men. | to speak evil of no one, not to be contentious, [to be] mild, shewing all meekness towards all men. | To speak evil of no man, not to be litigious, but gentle: shewing all mildness towards all men. |
Titus 3:3 | For in the past we were foolish, hard in heart, turned from the true way, servants of evil desires and pleasures, living in bad feeling and envy, hated and hating one another. | For we were once ourselves also without intelligence, disobedient, wandering in error, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, [and] hating one another. | For we ourselves also were some time unwise, incredulous, erring, slaves to divers desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. |
Titus 3:4 | But when the mercy of God our Saviour, and his love to man was seen, | But when the kindness and love to man of our Saviour God appeared, | But when the goodness and kindness of God our Savior appeared: |
Titus 3:5 | Not by works of righteousness which we did ourselves, but in the measure of his mercy, he gave us salvation, through the washing of the new birth and the giving of new life in the Holy Spirit, | not on the principle of works which [have been done] in righteousness which *we* had done, but according to his own mercy he saved us through [the] washing of regeneration and renewal of [the] Holy Spirit, | Not by the works of justice, which we have done, but according to his mercy, he saved us, by the laver of regeneration, and renovation of the Holy Ghost; |
Titus 3:6 | Which he gave us freely through Jesus Christ our Saviour; | which he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; | Whom he hath poured forth upon us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Savior: |
Titus 3:7 | So that, having been given righteousness through grace, we might have a part in the heritage, the hope of eternal life. | that, having been justified by *his* grace, we should become heirs according to [the] hope of eternal life. | That, being justified by his grace, we may be heirs, according to hope of life everlasting. |
Titus 3:8 | This is a true saying; and it is my desire that you may give certain witness about these things, so that those who have had faith in God may give attention to good works. These things are good and of profit to men; | The word [is] faithful, and I desire that thou insist strenuously on these things, that they who have believed God may take care to pay diligent attention to good works. These things are good and profitable to men. | It is a faithful saying: and these things I will have thee affirm constantly: that they, who believe in God, may be careful to excel in good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. |
Titus 3:9 | But have nothing to do with foolish questionings, and lists of generations, and fights and arguments about the law; for they are of no profit and foolish. | But foolish questions, and genealogies, and strifes, and contentions about the law, shun; for they are unprofitable and vain. | But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law. For they are unprofitable and vain. |
Titus 3:10 | A man whose opinions are not those of the church, after a first and second protest, is to be kept out of your society; | An heretical man after a first and second admonition have done with, | A man that is a heretic, after the first and second admonition, avoid: |
Titus 3:11 | Clearly he is in error and a sinner, being self-judged. | knowing that such a one is perverted, and sins, being self-condemned. | Knowing that he, that is such an one, is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned by his own judgment. |
Titus 3:12 | When I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis: for it is my purpose to be there for the winter. | When I shall send Artemas to thee, or Tychicus, use diligence to come to me to Nicopolis; for I have decided to winter there. | When I shall send to thee Artemas or Tychicus, make haste to come unto me to Nicopolis. For there I have determined to winter. |
Titus 3:13 | Send Zenas, the man of law, and Apollos on their journey with all care, so that they may be in need of nothing. | Zenas the lawyer and Apollos set forward diligently on their way, that nothing may be lacking to them; | Send forward Zenas, the lawyer, and Apollo, with care, that nothing be wanting to them. |
Titus 3:14 | And let our people go on with good works for necessary purposes, so that they may not be without fruit. | and let ours also learn to apply themselves to good works for necessary wants, that they may not be unfruitful. | And let our men also learn to excel in good works for necessary uses: that they be not unfruitful. |
Titus 3:15 | All who are with me send you their love. Give our love to our friends in the faith. Grace be with you all. | All with me salute thee. Salute those who love us in [the] faith. Grace [be] with you all. | All that are with me salute thee: salute them that love us in the faith. The grace of God be with you all. Amen. |
