Galatians 2:1Then after the space of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus with me.Then after a lapse of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also with [me];Then after a period of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also with me.
Galatians 2:2And I went up by revelation; and I put before them the good news which I was preaching among the Gentiles, but privately before those who were of good name, so that the work which I was or had been doing might not be without effect.and I went up according to revelation, and I laid before them the glad tidings which I preach among the nations, but privately to those conspicuous [among them], lest in any way I run or had run in vain;I went up by revelation, and I laid before them the gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately before those who were respected, for fear that I might be running, or had run, in vain.
Galatians 2:3But not even Titus who was with me, being a Greek, was made to undergo circumcision:(but neither was Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, compelled to be circumcised;)But not even Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.
Galatians 2:4And that because of the false brothers let in secretly, who came searching out our free condition which we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might make servants of us;and [it was] on account of the false brethren brought in surreptitiously, who came in surreptitiously to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage;This was because of the false brothers secretly brought in, who stole in to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage;
Galatians 2:5To whom we gave way not even for an hour; so that the true words of the good news might still be with you.to whom we yielded in subjection not even for an hour, that the truth of the glad tidings might remain with you.to whom we gave no place in the way of subjection, not for an hour, that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.
Galatians 2:6But from those who seemed to be important (whatever they were has no weight with me: God does not take man's person into account): those who seemed to be important gave nothing new to me;But from those who were conspicuous as being somewhat whatsoever they were, it makes no difference to me: God does not accept man's person; for to me those who were conspicuous communicated nothing;But from those who were reputed to be important (whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God doesn't show partiality to man) they, I say, who were respected imparted nothing to me,
Galatians 2:7But, quite the opposite, when they saw that I had been made responsible for preaching the good news to those without circumcision, even as Peter had been for those of the circumcisionbut, on the contrary, seeing that the glad tidings of the uncircumcision were confided to me, even as to Peter that of the circumcision,but to the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel for the uncircumcision, even as Peter with the gospel for the circumcision
Galatians 2:8(Because he who was working in Peter as the Apostle of the circumcision was working no less in me among the Gentiles);(for he that wrought in Peter for [the] apostleship of the circumcision wrought also in me towards the Gentiles,)(for he who appointed Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision appointed me also to the Gentiles);
Galatians 2:9When they saw the grace which was given to me, James and Cephas and John, who had the name of being pillars, gave to me and Barnabas their right hands as friends so that we might go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision;and recognising the grace given to me, James and Cephas and John, who were conspicuous as being pillars, gave to me and Barnabas [the] right hands of fellowship, that *we* [should go] to the nations, and *they* to the circumcision;and when they perceived the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, they who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision.
Galatians 2:10Only it was their desire that we would give thought to the poor; which very thing I had much in mind to do.only that we should remember the poor, which same thing also I was diligent to do.They only asked us to remember the poor which very thing I was also zealous to do.
Galatians 2:11But when Cephas came to Antioch, I made a protest against him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong.But when Peter came to Antioch, I withstood him to [the] face, because he was to be condemned:But when Peter came to Antioch, I resisted him to the face, because he stood condemned.
Galatians 2:12For before certain men came from James, he did take food with the Gentiles: but when they came, he went back and made himself separate, fearing those who were of the circumcision.for before that certain came from James, he ate with [those of] the nations; but when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing those of [the] circumcision;For before some people came from James, he ate with the Gentiles. But when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.
Galatians 2:13And the rest of the Jews went after him, so that even Barnabas was overcome by their false ways.and the rest of the Jews also played the same dissembling part with him; so that even Barnabas was carried away too by their dissimulation.The rest of the Jews joined him in his hypocrisy; so much that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.
Galatians 2:14But when I saw that they were not living uprightly in agreement with the true words of the good news, I said to Cephas before them all, If you, being a Jew, are living like the Gentiles, and not like the Jews, how will you make the Gentiles do the same as the Jews?But when I saw that they do not walk straightforwardly, according to the truth of the glad tidings, I said to Peter before all, If *thou*, being a Jew, livest as the nations and not as the Jews, how dost thou compel the nations to Judaize?But when I saw that they didn't walk uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, "If you, being a Jew, live as the Gentiles do, and not as the Jews do, why do you compel the Gentiles to live as the Jews do?
Galatians 2:15We being Jews by birth, and not sinners of the Gentiles,We, Jews by nature, and not sinners of [the] nations,"We, being Jews by nature, and not Gentile sinners,
Galatians 2:16Being conscious that a man does not get righteousness by the works of the law, but through faith in Jesus Christ, we had faith in Christ Jesus, so that we might get righteousness by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law: because by the works of the law will no flesh get righteousness.but knowing that a man is not justified on the principle of works of law [nor] but by the faith of Jesus Christ, *we* also have believed on Christ Jesus, that we might be justified on the principle of [the] faith of Christ; and not of works of law; because on the principle of works of law no flesh shall be justified.yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through the faith of Jesus Christ, even we believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law, because no flesh will be justified by the works of the law.
Galatians 2:17But if, while we were desiring to get righteousness through Christ, we ourselves were seen to be sinners, is Christ a servant of sin? In no way!Now if in seeking to be justified in Christ we also have been found sinners, then [is] Christ minister of sin? Far be the thought.But if, while we sought to be justified in Christ, we ourselves also were found sinners, is Christ a servant of sin? God forbid!
Galatians 2:18For if I put up again those things which I gave to destruction, I am seen to be a wrongdoer.For if the things I have thrown down, these I build again, I constitute myself a transgressor.For if I build up again those things which I destroyed, I prove myself a law-breaker.
Galatians 2:19For I, through the law, have become dead to the law, so that I might be living to God.For *I*, through law, have died to law, that I may live to God.For I, through the law, died to the law, that I might live to God.
Galatians 2:20I have been put to death on the cross with Christ; still I am living; no longer I, but Christ is living in me; and that life which I now am living in the flesh I am living by faith, the faith of the Son of God, who in love for me, gave himself up for me.I am crucified with Christ, and no longer live, *I*, but Christ lives in me; but [in] that I now live in flesh, I live by faith, the [faith] of the Son of God, who has loved me and given himself for me.I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.
Galatians 2:21I do not make the grace of God of no effect: because if righteousness is through the law, then Christ was put to death for nothing.I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness [is] by law, then Christ has died for nothing.I don't make void the grace of God. For if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nothing!"
