Matthew 14:1 | At that time news of Jesus came to Herod the king; | At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus, | At that time, Herod, the tetrarch, heard the report concerning Jesus, |
Matthew 14:2 | And he said to his servants, This is John the Baptist; he has come back from the dead, and so these powers are working in him. | and said to his servants, This is John the baptist: *he* is risen from the dead, and because of this these works of power display their force in him. | and said to his servants, "This is John the Baptizer. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him." |
Matthew 14:3 | For Herod had taken John and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife. | For Herod had seized John, and had bound him and put him in prison on account of Herodias the wife of Philip his brother. | For Herod had laid hold of John, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife. |

Matthew 14:16 | But Jesus said to them, There is no need for them to go away; give them food yourselves. | But Jesus said to them, They have no need to go: give *ye* them to eat. | But Jesus said to them, "They don't need to go away. You give them something to eat." |
Matthew 14:17 | And they say to him, We have here but five cakes of bread and two fishes. | But they say to him, We have not here save five loaves and two fishes. | They told him, "We only have here five loaves and two fish." |
Matthew 14:18 | And he said, Give them to me. | And he said, Bring them here to me. | He said, "Bring them here to me." |
Matthew 14:19 | And he gave orders for the people to be seated on the grass; and he took the five cakes of bread and the two fishes and, looking up to heaven, he said words of blessing, and made division of the food, and gave it to the disciples, and the disciples gave it to the people. | And having commanded the crowds to recline upon the grass, having taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed: and having broken the loaves, he gave [them] to the disciples, and the disciples [gave them] to the crowds. | He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, broke and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes. |

Matthew 14:29 | And he said, Come. And Peter got out of the boat, and walking on the water, went to Jesus. | And he said, Come. And Peter, having descended from the ship, walked upon the waters to go to Jesus. | He said, "Come!" Peter went down from the boat, and walked on the waters to come to Jesus. |
Matthew 14:30 | But when he saw the wind he was in fear and, starting to go down, he gave a cry, saying, Help, Lord. | But seeing the wind strong he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, Lord, save me. | But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!" |
Matthew 14:31 | And straight away Jesus put out his hand and took a grip of him, and said to him, O man of little faith, why were you in doubt? | And immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught hold of him, and says to him, O thou of little faith, why didst thou doubt? | Immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and took hold of him, and said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?" |
