Amos 7:1This is what the Lord God let me see: and I saw that, when the growth of the late grass was starting, he made locusts; it was the late growth after the king's cutting was done.These things the Lord God shewed to me: and behold the locust was formed in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter rain, and lo, it was the latter rain after the king's mowing.Thus the Lord Jehovah showed me: and, behold, he formed locusts in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings.
Amos 7:2And it came about that after they had taken all the grass of the land, I said, O Lord God, have mercy: how will Jacob be able to keep his place? for he is small.And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, I said: O Lord God, be merciful, I beseech thee: who shall raise up Jacob, for he is very little?And it came to pass that, when they made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord Jehovah, forgive, I beseech thee: how shall Jacob stand? for he is small.
Amos 7:3The Lord, changing his purpose about this, said, It will not be.The Lord had pity upon this: It shall not be, said the Lord.Jehovah repented concerning this: It shall not be, saith Jehovah.
Amos 7:4This is what the Lord let me see: and I saw that the Lord God sent for a great fire to be the instrument of his punishment; and, after burning up the great deep, it was about to put an end to the Lord's heritage.These things the Lord God shewed to me: and behold the Lord called for judgment unto fire, and it devoured the great deep, and ate up a part at the same time.Thus the Lord Jehovah showed me: and, behold, the Lord Jehovah called to content by fire; and it devoured the great deep, and would have eaten up the land.
Amos 7:5Then said I, O Lord God, let there be an end: how will Jacob be able to keep his place? for he is small.And I said: O Lord God, cease, I beseech thee, who shall raise up Jacob, for he is a little one?Then said I, O Lord Jehovah, cease, I beseech thee: how shall Jacob stand? for he is small.
Amos 7:6The Lord, changing his purpose about this, said, And this will not be.The Lord had pity upon this. Yea this also shall not be, said the Lord God.Jehovah repented concerning this: this also shall not be, saith the Lord Jehovah.
Amos 7:7This is what he let me see: and I saw the Lord stationed by a wall made straight by a weighted line, and he had a weighted line in his hand.These things the Lord shewed to me: and behold the Lord was standing upon a plastered wall, and in his hand a mason's trowel.Thus he showed me: and, behold, the Lord stood beside a wall made by a plumb-line, with a plumb-line in his hand.
Amos 7:8And the Lord said to me, Amos, what do you see? And I said, A weighted line. Then the Lord said, See, I will let down a weighted line among my people Israel; never again will my eyes be shut to their sin:And the Lord said to me: What seest thou, Amos? And I said: A mason's trowel. And the Lord said: Behold, I will lay down the trowel in the midst of my people Israel. I will plaster them over no more.And Jehovah said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumb-line. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumb-line in the midst of my people Israel; I will not again pass by them any more;
Amos 7:9And the high places of Isaac will be unpeopled, and the holy places of Israel will be made waste; and I will come up against the family of Jeroboam with the sword.And the high places of the idol shall be thrown down, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste: and I will rise up against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.and the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
Amos 7:10Then Amaziah, the priest of Beth-el, sent to Jeroboam, king of Israel, saying, Amos has made designs against you among the people of Israel: the land is troubled by his words.And Amasias the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying: Amos hath rebelled against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.Then Amaziah the priest of Beth-el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.
Amos 7:11For Amos has said, Jeroboam will be put to the sword, and Israel will certainly be taken away as a prisoner out of his land.For thus saith Amos: Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall be carried away captive out of their own land.For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.
Amos 7:12And Amaziah said to Amos, O seer, go in flight into the land of Judah, and there get your living by working as a prophet:And Amasias said to Amos: Thou seer, go, flee away into the land of Juda: and eat bread there, and prophesy there.Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thou away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:
Amos 7:13But be a prophet no longer at Beth-el: for it is the holy place of the king, and the king's house.But prophesy not again any more in Bethel: because it is the king's sanctuary, and it is the house of the kingdom.but prophesy not again any more at Beth-el; for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is a royal house.
Amos 7:14Then Amos in answer said to Amaziah, I am no prophet, or one of the sons of the prophets; I am a herdman and one who takes care of sycamore-trees:And Amos answered and said to Amasias: I am not a prophet, nor am I the son of a prophet: but I am a herdsman plucking wild figs.Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was a herdsman, and a dresser of sycomore-trees:
Amos 7:15And the Lord took me from the flock, and the Lord said to me, Go, be a prophet to my people Israel.And the Lord took me when I followed the flock, and the Lord said to me: Go, prophesy to my people Israel.and Jehovah took me from following the flock, and Jehovah said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
Amos 7:16Now then, give ear to the word of the Lord: You say, Be no prophet to Israel, and say not a word against the people of Isaac.And now hear thou the word of the Lord: Thou sayest, thou shalt not prophesy against Israel, and thou shalt not drop thy word upon the house of the idol.Now therefore hear thou the word of Jehovah: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not [thy word] against the house of Isaac;
Amos 7:17So this is what the Lord has said: Your wife will be a loose woman in the town, and your sons and your daughters will be put to the sword, and your land will be cut up into parts by a line; and you yourself will come to your end in an unclean land, and Israel will certainly be taken away a prisoner out of his land.Therefore thus saith the Lord: Thy wife shall play the harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be measured by a line: and thou shalt die in a polluted land, and Israel shall go into captivity out of their land.therefore thus saith Jehovah: Thy wife shall be a harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou thyself shalt die in a land that is unclean, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of his land.
