Acts 20:1And after the noise had come to an end, Paul, having sent for the disciples and given them comfort, went away from them to Macedonia.And after the tumult was ceased, Paul calling to him the disciples, and exhorting them, took his leave, and set forward to go into Macedonia.But after the tumult had ceased, Paul having called the disciples to [him] and embraced [them], went away to go to Macedonia.
Acts 20:2And when he had gone through those parts and given them much teaching, he came into Greece.And when he had gone over those parts, and had exhorted them with many words, he came into Greece;And having passed through those parts, and having exhorted them with much discourse, he came to Greece.
Acts 20:3And when he had been there three months, because the Jews had made a secret design against him when he was about to take ship for Syria, he made a decision to go back through Macedonia.Where, when he had spent three months, the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria; so he took a resolution to return through Macedonia.And having spent three months [there], a treacherous plot against him having been set on foot by the Jews, as he was going to sail to Syria, [the] resolution was adopted of returning through Macedonia.
Acts 20:4And Sopater of Beroea, the son of Pyrrhus, and Aristarchus and Secundus of Thessalonica, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus of Asia, went with him as far as Asia.And there accompanied him Sopater the son of Pyrrhus, of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus, and Secundus, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.And there accompanied him as far as Asia, Sopater [son] of Pyrrhus, a Berean; and of Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus, and Gaius and Timotheus of Derbe, and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.
Acts 20:5But these had gone before, and were waiting for us at Troas.These going before, stayed for us at Troas.These going before waited for us in Troas;
Acts 20:6And we went away from Philippi by ship after the days of unleavened bread, and came to them at Troas in five days; and we were there for seven days.But we sailed from Philippi after the days of the Azymes, and came to them to Troas in five days, where we abode seven days.but we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and we came to them to Troas in five days, where we spent seven days.
Acts 20:7And on the first day of the week, when we had come together for the holy meal, Paul gave them a talk, for it was his purpose to go away on the day after; and he went on talking till after the middle of the night.And on the first day of the week, when we were assembled to break bread, Paul discoursed with them, being to depart on the morrow: and he continued his speech until midnight.And the first day of the week, we being assembled to break bread, Paul discoursed to them, about to depart on the morrow. And he prolonged the discourse till midnight.
Acts 20:8And there were a number of lights in the room where we had come together.And there were a great number of lamps in the upper chamber where we were assembled.And there were many lights in the upper room where we were assembled.
Acts 20:9And a certain young man named Eutychus, who was seated in the window, went into a deep sleep; and while Paul went on talking, being overcome by sleep, he had a fall from the third floor, and was taken up dead.And a certain young man named Eutychus, sitting on the window, being oppressed with a deep sleep, (as Paul was long preaching,) by occasion of his sleep fell from the third loft down, and was taken up dead.And a certain youth, by name Eutychus, sitting at the window-opening, overpowered by deep sleep, while Paul discoursed very much at length, having been overpowered by the sleep, fell from the third story down to the bottom, and was taken up dead.
Acts 20:10And Paul went down and, falling on him, took him in his arms and said, Do not be troubled, for his life is in him.To whom, when Paul had gone down, he laid himself upon him, and embracing him, said: Be not troubled, for his soul is in him.But Paul descending fell upon him, and enfolding [him] [in his arms], said, Be not troubled, for his life is in him.
Acts 20:11And when he had gone up, and had taken the broken bread, he went on talking to them for a long time, even till dawn, and then he went away.Then going up, and breaking bread and tasting, and having talked a long time to them, until daylight, so he departed.And having gone up, and having broken the bread, and eaten, and having long spoken until daybreak, so he went away.
Acts 20:12And they took the boy in, living, and were greatly comforted.And they brought the youth alive, and were not a little comforted.And they brought [away] the boy alive, and were no little comforted.
Acts 20:13But we, going before him by ship, went to Assos with the purpose of taking Paul in there: for so he had given orders, because he himself was coming by land.But we, going aboard the ship, sailed to Assos, being there to take in Paul; for so he had appointed, himself purposing to travel by land.And we, having gone before on board ship, sailed off to Assos, going to take in Paul there; for so he had directed, he himself being about to go on foot.
Acts 20:14And when he came up with us at Assos, we took him in the ship and went on to Mitylene.And when he had met with us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.And when he met with us at Assos, having taken him on board, we came to Mitylene;
Acts 20:15And going from there by sea, we came on the day after opposite Chios, and touching at Samos on the day after that, we came on the third day to Miletus.And sailing thence, the day following we came over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos; and the day following we came to Miletus.and having sailed thence, on the morrow arrived opposite Chios, and the next day put in at Samos; and having stayed at Trogyllium, the next day we came to Miletus:
Acts 20:16For Paul's purpose was to go past Ephesus, so that he might not be kept in Asia; for he was going quickly, in order, if possible, to be at Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, lest he should be stayed any time in Asia. For he hasted, if it were possible for him, to keep the day of Pentecost at Jerusalem.for Paul thought it desirable to sail by Ephesus, so that he might not be made to spend time in Asia; for he hastened, if it was possible for him, to be the day of Pentecost at Jerusalem.
Acts 20:17And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus for the rulers of the church.And sending from Miletus to Ephesus, he called the ancients of the church.But from Miletus having sent to Ephesus, he called over [to him] the elders of the assembly.
Acts 20:18And when they had come, he said to them, You yourselves have seen what my life has been like all the time from the day when I first came into Asia,And when they were come to him, and were together, he said to them: You know from the first day that I came into Asia, in what manner I have been with you, for all the time,And when they were come to him, he said to them, *Ye* know how I was with you all the time from the first day that I arrived in Asia,
Acts 20:19Doing the Lord's work without pride, through all the sorrow and troubles which came on me because of the evil designs of the Jews:Serving the Lord with all humility, and with tears, and temptations which befell me by the conspiracies of the Jews;serving the Lord with all lowliness, and tears, and temptations, which happened to me through the plots of the Jews;
Acts 20:20And how I kept back nothing which might be of profit to you, teaching you publicly and privately,How I have kept back nothing that was profitable to you, but have preached it to you, and taught you publicly, and from house to house,how I held back nothing of what is profitable, so as not to announce [it] to you, and to teach you publicly and in every house,
Acts 20:21Preaching to Jews and to Greeks the need for a turning of the heart to God, and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.Testifying both to Jews and Gentiles penance towards God, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.testifying to both Jews and Greeks repentance towards God, and faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ.
Acts 20:22And now, as you see, I am going to Jerusalem, a prisoner in spirit, having no knowledge of what will come to me there:And now, behold, being bound in the spirit, I go to Jerusalem: not knowing the things which shall befall me there:And now, behold, bound in my spirit *I* go to Jerusalem, not knowing what things shall happen to me in it;
Acts 20:23Only that the Holy Spirit makes clear to me in every town that prison and pains are waiting for me.Save that the Holy Ghost in every city witnesseth to me, saying: That bands and afflictions wait for me at Jerusalem.only that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city, saying that bonds and tribulations await me.
Acts 20:24But I put no value on my life, if only at the end of it I may see the work complete which was given to me by the Lord Jesus, to be a witness of the good news of the grace of God.But I fear none of these things, neither do I count my life more precious than myself, so that I may consummate my course and the ministry of the word which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.But I make no account of [my] life [as] dear to myself, so that I finish my course, and the ministry which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the glad tidings of the grace of God.
Acts 20:25And now I am conscious that you, among whom I have gone about preaching the kingdom, will not see my face again.And now behold, I know that all you, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone about preaching the kingdom [of God], shall see my face no more.
Acts 20:26And so I say to you this day that I am clean from the blood of all men.Wherefore I take you to witness this day, that I am clear from the blood of all men;Wherefore I witness to you this day, that I am clean from the blood of all,
Acts 20:27For I have not kept back from you anything of the purpose of God.For I have not spared to declare unto you all the counsel of God.for I have not shrunk from announcing to you all the counsel of God.
Acts 20:28Give attention to yourselves, and to all the flock which the Holy Spirit has given into your care, to give food to the church of God, for which he gave his blood.Take heed to yourselves, and to the whole flock, wherein the Holy Ghost hath placed you bishops, to rule the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock, wherein the Holy Spirit has set you as overseers, to shepherd the assembly of God, which he has purchased with the blood of his own.
Acts 20:29I am conscious that after I am gone, evil wolves will come in among you, doing damage to the flock;I know that, after my departure, ravening wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock.[For] *I* know [this,] that there will come in amongst you after my departure grievous wolves, not sparing the flock;
Acts 20:30And from among yourselves will come men who will give wrong teaching, turning away the disciples after them.And of your own selves shall arise men speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.and from among your own selves shall rise up men speaking perverted things to draw away the disciples after them.
Acts 20:31So keep watch, having in mind that for three years without resting I was teaching every one of you, day and night, with weeping.Therefore watch, keeping in memory, that for three years I ceased not, with tears to admonish every one of you night and day.Wherefore watch, remembering that for three years, night and day, I ceased not admonishing each one [of you] with tears.
Acts 20:32And now, I give you into the care of God and the word of his grace, which is able to make you strong and to give you your heritage among all the saints.And now I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, who is able to build up, and to give an inheritance among all the sanctified.And now I commit you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build [you] up and give [to you] an inheritance among all the sanctified.
Acts 20:33I have had no desire for any man's silver or gold or clothing.I have not coveted any man's silver, gold, or apparel, asI have coveted [the] silver or gold or clothing of no one.
Acts 20:34You yourselves have seen that with these hands I got what was necessary for me and those who were with me.You yourselves know: for such things as were needful for me and them that are with me, these hands have furnished.Yourselves know that these hands have ministered to my wants, and to those who were with me.
Acts 20:35In all things I was an example to you of how, in your lives, you are to give help to the feeble, and keep in memory the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, There is a greater blessing in giving than in getting.I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring you ought to support the weak, and to remember the word of the Lord Jesus, how he said: It is a more blessed thing to give, rather than to receive.I have shewed you all things, that thus labouring [we] ought to come in aid of the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Acts 20:36And having said these words, he went down on his knees in prayer with them all.And when he had said these things, kneeling down, he prayed with them all.And having said these things, he knelt down and prayed with them all.
Acts 20:37And they were all weeping, falling on Paul's neck and kissing him,And there was much weeping among them all; and falling on the neck of Paul, they kissed him,And they all wept sore; and falling upon the neck of Paul they ardently kissed him,
Acts 20:38Being sad most of all because he had said that they would not see his face again. And so they went with him to the ship.Being grieved most of all for the word which he had said, that they should see his face no more. And they brought him on his way to the ship.specially pained by the word which he had said, that they would no more see his face. And they went down with him to the ship.
