Matthew 13:1On that day Jesus went out of the house and was seated by the seaside.The same day Jesus going out of the house, sat by the sea side.And that [same] day Jesus went out from the house and sat down by the sea.
Matthew 13:2And great numbers of people came together to him, so that he got into a boat; and the people took up their position by the sea.And great multitudes were gathered unto him, so that he went up into a boat and sat: and all the multitude stood on the shore.And great crowds were gathered together to him, so that going on board ship himself he sat down, and the whole crowd stood on the shore.
Matthew 13:3And he gave them teaching in the form of a story, saying, A man went out to put seed in the earth;And he spoke to them many things in parables, saying: Behold the sower went forth to sow.And he spoke to them many things in parables, saying, Behold, the sower went out to sow:
Matthew 13:4And while he did so, some seeds were dropped by the wayside, and the birds came and took them for food:And whilst he soweth some fell by the way side, and the birds of the air came and ate them up.and as he sowed, some [grains] fell along the way, and the birds came and devoured them;
Matthew 13:5And some of the seed went among the stones, where it had not much earth, and straight away it came up because the earth was not deep:And other some fell upon stony ground, where they had not much earth: and they sprung up immediately, because they had no deepness of earth.and others fell upon the rocky places where they had not much earth, and immediately they sprang up out of [the ground] because of not having [any] depth of earth,
Matthew 13:6And when the sun was high, it was burned; and because it had no root it became dry and dead.And when the sun was up they were scorched: and because they had not root, they withered away.but when the sun rose they were burned up, and because of not having [any] root were dried up;
Matthew 13:7And some seeds went among thorns, and the thorns came up and they had no room for growth:And others fell among thorns: and the thorns grew up and choked them.and others fell upon the thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them;
Matthew 13:8And some, falling on good earth, gave fruit, some a hundred, some sixty, some thirty times as much.And others fell upon good ground: and they brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, and some thirtyfold.and others fell upon the good ground, and produced fruit, one a hundred, one sixty, and one thirty.
Matthew 13:9He who has ears, let him give ear.He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.He that has ears, let him hear.
Matthew 13:10And the disciples came and said to him, Why do you say things to them in the form of stories?And his disciples came and said to him: Why speakest thou to them in parables?And the disciples came up and said to him, Why speakest thou to them in parables?
Matthew 13:11And he said to them in answer, To you is given the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.Who answered and said to them: Because to you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven: but to them it is not given.And he answering said to them, Because to you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of the heavens, but to them it is not given;
Matthew 13:12Because whoever has, to him will be given, and he will have more; but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away.For he that hath, to him shall be given, and he shall abound: but he that hath not, from him shall be taken away that also which he hath.for whoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall be caused to be in abundance; but he who has not, even what he has shall be taken away from him.
Matthew 13:13For this reason I put things into the form of stories; because they see without seeing, and give ear without hearing, and the sense is not clear to them.Therefore do I speak to them in parables: because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.For this cause I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear nor understand;
Matthew 13:14And for them the words of Isaiah have come true, Though you give ear, you will not get knowledge; and seeing, you will see, but the sense will not be clear to you:And the prophecy of Isaias is fulfilled in them, who saith: By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand: and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive.and in them is filled up the prophecy of Esaias, which says, Hearing ye shall hear and shall not understand, and beholding ye shall behold and not see;
Matthew 13:15For the heart of this people has become fat and their ears are slow in hearing and their eyes are shut; for fear that they might see with their eyes and give hearing with their ears and become wise in their hearts and be turned again to me, so that I might make them well.For the heart of this people is grown gross, and with their ears they have been dull of hearing, and their eyes they have shut: lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.for the heart of this people has grown fat, and they have heard heavily with their ears, and they have closed their eyes as asleep, lest they should see with the eyes, and hear with the ears, and understand with the heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
Matthew 13:16But a blessing be on your eyes, because they see; and on your ears, because they are open.But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear.But blessed are *your* eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear;
Matthew 13:17For truly, I say to you that prophets and upright men had a desire to see the things which you see, and saw them not; and to have knowledge of the words which have come to your ears, and they had it not.For, amen, I say to you, many prophets and just men have desired to see the things that you see, and have not seen them, and to hear the things that you hear and have not heard them.for verily I say unto you, that many prophets and righteous [men] have desired to see the things which ye behold and did not see [them], and to hear the things which ye hear and did not hear [them].
Matthew 13:18Give ear, then, to the story of the man who put the seed in the earth.Hear you therefore the parable of the sower.*Ye*, therefore, hear the parable of the sower.
Matthew 13:19When the word of the kingdom comes to anyone, and the sense of it is not clear to him, then the Evil One comes, and quickly takes away that which was put in his heart. He is the seed dropped by the wayside.When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, there cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart: this is he that received the seed by the way side.From every one who hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand [it], the wicked one comes and catches away what was sown in his heart: this is he that is sown by the wayside.
Matthew 13:20And that which went on the stones, this is he who, hearing the word, straight away takes it with joy;And he that received the seed upon stony ground, is he that heareth the word, and immediately receiveth it with joy.But he that is sown on the rocky places this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy,
Matthew 13:21But having no root in himself, he goes on for a time; and when trouble comes or pain, because of the word, he quickly becomes full of doubts.Yet hath he not root in himself, but is only for a time: and when there ariseth tribulation and persecution because of the word, he is presently scandalized.but has no root in himself, but is for a time only; and when tribulation or persecution happens on account of the word, he is immediately offended.
Matthew 13:22And that which was dropped among the thorns, this is he who has the word; and the cares of this life, and the deceits of wealth, put a stop to the growth of the word and it gives no fruit.And he that received the seed among thorns, is he that heareth the word, and the care of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choketh up the word, and he becometh fruitless.And he that is sown among the thorns this is he who hears the word, and the anxious care of this life, and the deceit of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.
Matthew 13:23And the seed which was put in good earth, this is he who gives ear to the word, and gets the sense of it; who gives fruit, some a hundred, some sixty, some thirty times as much.But he that received the seed upon good ground, is he that heareth the word, and understandeth, and beareth fruit, and yieldeth the one an hundredfold, and another sixty, and another thirty.But he that is sown upon the good ground this is he who hears and understands the word, who bears fruit also, and produces, one a hundred, one sixty, and one thirty.
Matthew 13:24And he gave them another story, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a man who put good seed in his field:Another parable he proposed to them, saying: The kingdom of heaven is likened to a man that sowed good seeds in his field.Another parable set he before them, saying, The kingdom of the heavens has become like a man sowing good seed in his field;
Matthew 13:25But while men were sleeping, one who had hate for him came and put evil seeds among the grain, and went away.But while men were asleep, his enemy came and oversowed cockle among the wheat and went his way.but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed darnel amongst the wheat, and went away.
Matthew 13:26But when the green stem came up and gave fruit, the evil plants were seen at the same time.And when the blade was sprung up, and had brought forth fruit, then appeared also the cockle.But when the blade shot up and produced fruit, then appeared the darnel also.
Matthew 13:27And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him, Sir, did you not put good seed in your field? how then has it evil plants?And the servants of the goodman of the house coming said to him: Sir, didst thou not sow good seed in thy field? whence then hath it cockle?And the bondmen of the householder came up and said to him, Sir, hast thou not sown good seed in thy field? whence then has it darnel?
Matthew 13:28And he said, Someone has done this in hate. And the servants say to him, Is it your pleasure that we go and take them up?And he said to them: An enemy hath done this. And the servants said to him: Wilt thou that we go and gather it up?And he said to them, A man [that is] an enemy has done this. And the bondmen said to him, Wilt thou then that we should go and gather it [up]?
Matthew 13:29But he says, No, for fear that by chance while you take up the evil plants, you may be rooting up the grain with them.And he said: No, lest perhaps gathering up the cockle, you root up the wheat also together with it.But he said, No; lest [in] gathering the darnel ye should root up the wheat with it.
Matthew 13:30Let them come up together till the getting in of the grain; and then I will say to the workers, Take up first the evil plants, and put them together for burning: but put the grain into my store-house.Suffer both to grow until the harvest, and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers: Gather up first the cockle, and bind it into bundles to burn, but the wheat gather ye into my barn.Suffer both to grow together unto the harvest, and in time of the harvest I will say to the harvestmen, Gather first the darnel, and bind it into bundles to burn it; but the wheat bring together into my granary.
Matthew 13:31He put another story before them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed which a man took and put in his field:Another parable he proposed unto them, saying: The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field.Another parable set he before them, saying, The kingdom of the heavens is like a grain of mustard [seed] which a man took and sowed in his field;
Matthew 13:32Which is smaller than all seeds; but when it has come up it is greater than the plants, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of heaven come and make their resting-places in its branches.Which is the least indeed of all seeds; but when it is grown up, it is greater than all herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come, and dwell in the branches thereof.which is less indeed than all seeds, but when it is grown is greater than herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of heaven come and roost in its branches.
Matthew 13:33Another story he gave to them: The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took, and put in three measures of meal, till it was all leavened.Another parable he spoke to them: The kingdom of heaven is like to leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, until the whole was leavened.He spoke another parable to them: The kingdom of the heavens is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal until it had been all leavened.
Matthew 13:34All these things Jesus said to the people in the form of stories; and without a story he said nothing to them:All these things Jesus spoke in parables to the multitudes: and without parables he did not speak to them.All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables, and without a parable he did not speak to them,
Matthew 13:35That it might come true which was said by the prophet, Opening my mouth, I will give out stories; I will give knowledge of things kept secret from before all time.That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter things hidden from the foundation of the world.so that that should be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from [the] world's foundation.
Matthew 13:36Then he went away from the people, and went into the house; and his disciples came to him, saying, Make clear to us the story of the evil plants in the field.Then having sent away the multitudes, he came into the house, and his disciples came to him, saying: Expound to us the parable of the cockle of the field.Then, having dismissed the crowds, he went into the house; and his disciples came to him, saying, Expound to us the parable of the darnel of the field.
Matthew 13:37And he made answer and said, He who puts the good seed in the earth is the Son of man;Who made answer and said to them: He that soweth the good seed, is the Son of man.But he answering said, He that sows the good seed is the Son of man,
Matthew 13:38And the field is the world; and the good seed is the sons of the kingdom; and the evil seeds are the sons of the Evil One;And the field, is the world. And the good seed are the children of the kingdom. And the cockle, are the children of the wicked one.and the field is the world; and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom, but the darnel are the sons of the evil [one];
Matthew 13:39And he who put them in the earth is Satan; and the getting in of the grain is the end of the world; and those who get it in are the angels.And the enemy that sowed them, is the devil. But the harvest is the end of the world. And the reapers are the angels.and the enemy who has sowed it is the devil; and the harvest is [the] completion of [the] age, and the harvestmen are angels.
Matthew 13:40As then the evil plants are got together and burned with fire, so will it be in the end of the world.Even as cockle therefore is gathered up, and burnt with fire: so shall it be at the end of the world.As then the darnel is gathered and is burned in the fire, thus it shall be in the completion of the age.
Matthew 13:41The Son of man will send out his angels, and they will take out of his kingdom everything which is a cause of error, and all those who do wrong,The Son of man shall send his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all scandals, and them that work iniquity.The Son of man shall send his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all offences, and those that practise lawlessness;
Matthew 13:42And will put them into the fire; there will be weeping and cries of sorrow.And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.and they shall cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 13:43Then will the upright be shining as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him give ear.Then shall the just shine as the sun, in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.Then the righteous shall shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that has ears, let him hear.
Matthew 13:44The kingdom of heaven is like a secret store of wealth in a field, which a man came across and put back again; and in his joy he goes and gives all he has, to get that field.The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in a field. Which a man having found, hid it, and for joy thereof goeth, and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.The kingdom of the heavens is like a treasure hid in the field, which a man having found has hid, and for the joy of it goes and sells all whatever he has, and buys that field.
Matthew 13:45Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a trader searching for beautiful jewels.Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a merchant seeking good pearls.Again, the kingdom of the heavens is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls;
Matthew 13:46And having come across one jewel of great price, he went and gave all he had in exchange for it.Who when he had found one pearl of great price, went his way, and sold all that he had, and bought it.and having found one pearl of great value, he went and sold all whatever he had and bought it.
Matthew 13:47Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net, which was put into the sea and took in every sort of fish:Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a net cast into the sea, and gathering together of all kind of fishes.Again, the kingdom of the heavens is like a seine which has been cast into the sea, and which has gathered together of every kind,
Matthew 13:48When it was full, they took it up on the sands; and seated there they put the good into vessels, but the bad they put away.Which, when it was filled, they drew out, and sitting by the shore, they chose out the good into vessels, but the bad they cast forth.which, when it has been filled, having drawn up on the shore and sat down, they gathered the good into vessels and cast the worthless out.
Matthew 13:49So will it be in the end of the world: the angels will come and take out the bad from the good,So shall it be at the end of the world. The angels shall go out, and shall separate the wicked from among the just.Thus shall it be in the completion of the age: the angels shall go forth and sever the wicked from the midst of the just,
Matthew 13:50And will put them into the fire: there will be weeping and cries of sorrow.And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.and shall cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 13:51Are all these things now clear to you? They say to him, Yes.Have ye understood all these things? They say to him: Yes.Jesus says to them, Have ye understood all these things? They say to him, Yea, [Lord].
Matthew 13:52And he said to them, For this reason every scribe who has become a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house, who gives out from his store things new and old.He said unto them: Therefore every scribe instructed in the kingdom of heaven, is like to a man that is a householder, who bringeth forth out of his treasure new things and old.And he said to them, For this reason every scribe discipled to the kingdom of the heavens is like a man [that is] a householder who brings out of his treasure things new and old.
Matthew 13:53And when Jesus had come to the end of these stories he went away from there.And it came to pass: when Jesus had finished these parables, he passed from thence.And it came to pass when Jesus had finished these parables he withdrew thence.
Matthew 13:54And coming into his country, he gave them teaching in their Synagogue, so that they were greatly surprised and said, Where did this man get this wisdom and these works of power?And coming into his own country, he taught them in their synagogues, so that they wondered and said: How came this man by this wisdom and miracles?And having come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, Whence has this [man] this wisdom and these works of power?
Matthew 13:55Is not this the woodworker's son? is not his mother named Mary? and his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brethren James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Jude:Is not this the son of the carpenter? Is not his mother called Mary, and his brethren James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Judas?
Matthew 13:56And his sisters, are they not all with us? from where, then, has he all these things?And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence therefore hath he all these things?And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then has this [man] all these things?
Matthew 13:57And they were bitter against him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is nowhere without honour but in his country and among his family.And they were scandalized in his regard. But Jesus said to them: A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.And they were offended in him. And Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honour, unless in his country and in his house.
Matthew 13:58And the works of power which he did there were small in number because they had no faith.And he wrought not many miracles there, because of their unbelief.And he did not there many works of power, because of their unbelief.
