But they thought within themselves, saying:The baptism of John, where was it from? From heaven or from men?" A man had two sons, and he came to the first, and said, 'Son, go work today in my vineyard.'

Jesus saith to them: Amen I say to you, that the publicans and the harlots shall go into the kingdom of God before you.Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said to him, "The first." Matthew 21:32For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you had no faith in him, but the tax-farmers and the loose women had faith in him: and you, when you saw it, did not even have regret for your sins, so as to have faith in him.For John came to you in the way of justice, and you did not believe him. But the publicans and the harlots believed him: but you, seeing it, did not even afterwards repent, that you might believe him.For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you didn't believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. When you saw it, you didn't even repent afterward, that you might believe him.
Matthew 21:33Give ear to another story. A master of a house made a vine garden, and put a wall round it, and made a place for crushing out the wine, and made a tower, and let it out to field-workers, and went into another country.Hear ye another parable. There was a man an householder, who planted a vineyard, and made a hedge round about it, and dug in it a press, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen; and went into a strange country."Hear another parable. There was a man who was a master of a household, who planted a vineyard, set a hedge about it, dug a winepress in it, built a tower, leased it out to farmers, and went into another country.
Matthew 21:34And when the time for the fruit came near, he sent his servants to the workmen, to get the fruit. And when the time of the fruits drew nigh, he sent his servants to the husbandmen that they might receive the fruits thereof. When the season of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the farmers, to receive his fruits.
Matthew 21:35And the workmen made an attack on his servants, giving blows to one, putting another to death, and stoning another. And the husbandmen laying hands on his servants, beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. The farmers took his servants, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.
Matthew 21:36Again, he sent other servants more in number than the first: and they did the same to them.Again he sent other servants more than the former; and they did to them in like manner.Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did to them in like manner.
Matthew 21:37But after that he sent his son to them, saying, They will have respect for my son.And last of all he sent to them his son, saying: They will reverence my son.But afterward he sent to them his son, saying, 'They will respect my son.'
Matthew 21:38But when the workmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is he who will one day be the owner of the property; come, let us put him to death and take his heritage. But the husbandmen seeing the son, said among themselves: This is the heir: come, let us kill him, and we shall have his inheritance. But the farmers, when they saw the son, said among themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let's kill him, and seize his inheritance.'
Matthew 21:39And they took him and, driving him out of the vine-garden, put him to death. And taking him, they cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him.So they took him, and threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.
Matthew 21:40When, then, the lord of the vine-garden comes, what will he do to those workmen? When therefore the lord of the vineyard shall come, what will he do to those husbandmen? When therefore the lord of the vineyard will come, what will he do to those farmers?"
Matthew 21:41They say to him, He will put those cruel men to a cruel death, and will let out the vine-garden to other workmen, who will give him the fruit when it is ready. They say to him: He will bring those evil men to an evil end; and will let out his vineyard to other husbandmen, that shall render him the fruit in due season. They told him, "He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will lease out the vineyard to other farmers, who will give him the fruits in their seasons."

By the Lord this has been done; and it is wonderful in our eyes.Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the scriptures, 'The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner. This was from the Lord. It is marvelous in our eyes?'
Matthew 21:43For this reason I say to you, The kingdom of God will be taken away from you, and will be given to a nation producing the fruits of it.Therefore I say to you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and shall be given to a nation yielding the fruits thereof."Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you, and will be given to a nation bringing forth its fruits.
Matthew 21:44Any man falling on this stone will be broken, but he on whom it comes down will be crushed to dust. And whosoever shall fall on this stone, shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it shall grind him to powder. He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but on whoever it will fall, it will scatter him as dust."
Matthew 21:45And when his stories came to the ears of the chief priests and the Pharisees, they saw that he was talking of them. And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they knew that he spoke of them. When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he spoke of them.
Matthew 21:46And though they had a desire to take him, they were in fear of the people, because in their eyes he was a prophet. And seeking to lay hands on him, they feared the multitudes: because they held him as a prophet. When they sought to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, because they took him for a prophet.
