Micah 6:1Give ear now to the words of the Lord: Up! put forward your cause before the mountains, let your voice be sounding among the hills.Hear ye what the Lord saith: Arise, contend thou in judgment against the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.Hear you now what Yahweh says: Arise, contend you before the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice.
Micah 6:2Give ear, O you mountains, to the Lord's cause, and take note, you bases of the earth: for the Lord has a cause against his people, and he will take it up with Israel.Let the mountains hear the judgment of the Lord, and the strong foundations of the earth: for the Lord will enter into judgment with his people, and he will plead against Israel.Hear, you mountains, Yahweh's controversy, and you enduring foundations of the earth; for Yahweh has a controversy with his people, and he will contend with Israel.
Micah 6:3O my people, what have I done to you? how have I been a weariness to you? give answer against me.O my people, what have I done to thee, or in what have I molested thee? answer thou me.My people, what have I done to you? and in which have I wearied you? testify against me.
Micah 6:4For I took you up out of the land of Egypt and made you free from the prison-house; I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and delivered thee out of the house of slaves: and I sent before thy face Moses, and Aaron, and Mary. For I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage; and I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.
Micah 6:5O my people, keep in mind now what was designed by Balak, king of Moab, and the answer which Balaam, son of Beor, gave him; the events, from Shittim to Gilgal, so that you may be certain of the upright acts of the Lord.O my people, remember, I pray thee, what Balach the king of Moab purposed: and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him, from Setim to Galgal, that thou mightest know the justices of the Lord.My people, remember now what Balak king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him; [remember] from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of Yahweh.
Micah 6:6With what am I to come before the Lord and go with bent head before the high God? am I to come before him with burned offerings, with young oxen a year old? What shall I offer to the Lord that is worthy? wherewith shall I kneel before the high God? shall I offer holocausts unto him, and calves of a year old?How shall I come before Yahweh, and bow myself before the high God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old?
Micah 6:7Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of sheep or with ten thousand rivers of oil? am I to give my first child for my wrongdoing, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?May the Lord be appeased with thousands of rams, or with many thousands of fat he goats? shall I give my firstborn for my wickedness, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? Will Yahweh be pleased with thousands of rams, [or] with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my disobedience, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
Micah 6:8He has made clear to you, O man, what is good; and what is desired from you by the Lord; only doing what is right, and loving mercy, and walking without pride before your God.I will shew thee, O man, what is good, and what the Lord requireth of thee: Verily, to do judgment, and to love mercy, and to walk solicitous with thy God.He has showed you, man, what is good; and what does Yahweh require of you, but to do justly, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Micah 6:9The voice of the Lord is crying out to the town: Give ear, you tribes and the meeting of the town. The voice of the Lord crieth to the city, and salvation shall be to them that fear thy name: hear, O ye tribes, and who shall approve it?The voice of Yahweh cries to the city, and [the man of] wisdom will see your name: hear you the rod, and who has appointed it.
Micah 6:10Am I to let the stores of the evil-doer go out of my memory, and the short measure, which is cursed? As yet there is a fire in the house of the wicked, the treasures of iniquity, and a scant measure full of wrath. Are there yet treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and a scant measure that is abominable?
Micah 6:11Is it possible for me to let wrong scales and the bag of false weights go without punishment?Shall I justify wicked balances, and the deceitful weights of the bag?Shall I be pure with wicked balances, and with a bag of deceitful weights?
Micah 6:12For its men of wealth are cruel, and its people have said what is not true, and their tongue is false in their mouth.By which her rich men were filled with iniquity, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue was deceitful in their mouth. For the rich men of it are full of violence, and the inhabitants of it have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
Micah 6:13So I have made a start with your punishment; I have made you waste because of your sins. And I therefore began to strike thee with desolation for thy sins. Therefore I also have struck you with a grievous wound; I have made you desolate because of your sins.
Micah 6:14You will have food, but not enough; your shame will be ever with you: you will get your goods moved, but you will not take them away safely; and what you do take away I will give to the sword.Thou shalt eat, but shalt not be filled: and thy humiliation shall be in the midst of thee: and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not save: and those whom thou shalt save, I will give up to the sword. You shall eat, but not be satisfied; and your humiliation shall be in the midst of you: and you shall put away, but shall not save; and that which you save will I give up to the sword.
Micah 6:15You will put in seed, but you will not get in the grain; you will be crushing olives, but your bodies will not be rubbed with the oil; and you will get in the grapes, but you will have no wine.Thou shalt sow, but shalt not reap: thou shalt tread the olives, but shalt not be anointed with the oil: and the new wine, but shalt not drink the wine. You shall sow, but shall not reap; you shall tread the olives, but shall not anoint you with oil; and the vintage, but shall not drink the wine.
Micah 6:16For you have kept the laws of Omri and all the works of the family of Ahab, and you have been guided by their designs: so that I might make you a cause of wonder and your people a cause of hisses; and the shame of my people will be on you.For thou hast kept the statutes of Amri, and all the works of the house of Achab: and thou hast walked according to their wills, that I should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof a hissing, and you shall bear the reproach of my people. For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and you walk in their counsels; that I may make you a desolation, and the inhabitants of it a hissing: and you shall bear the reproach of my people.
