Genesis 28:1Then Isaac sent for Jacob, and blessing him, said, Do not take a wife from among the women of Canaan;And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, saying: Take not a wife of the stock of Chanaan:And Isaac calleth unto Jacob, and blesseth him, and commandeth him, and saith to him, `Thou dost not take a wife of the daughters of Caanan;
Genesis 28:2But go to Paddan-aram, to the house of Bethuel, your mother's father, and there get yourself a wife from the daughters of Laban, your mother's brother.But go, and take a journey to Mesopotamia of Syria, to the house of Bathuel thy mother's father, and take thee a wife thence of the daughters of Laban thy uncle.rise, go to Padan-Aram, to the house of Bethuel, thy mother`s father, and take for thyself from thence a wife, of the daughters of Laban, thy mother`s brother;
Genesis 28:3And may God, the Ruler of all, give you his blessing, giving you fruit and increase, so that you may become an army of peoples.And God almighty bless thee, and make thee to increase, and multiply thee: that thou mayst be a multitude of people.and God Almighty doth bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and thou hast become an assembly of peoples;
Genesis 28:4And may God give you the blessing of Abraham, to you and to your seed, so that the land of your wanderings, which God gave to Abraham, may be your heritage.And give the blessings of Abrabam to thee, and to thy seed after thee: that thou mayst possess the land of thy sojournment, which he promised to thy grandfather.and He doth give to thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee and to thy seed with thee, to cause thee to possess the land of thy sojournings, which God gave to Abraham.`
Genesis 28:5So Isaac sent Jacob away: and he went to Paddan-aram, to Laban, son of Bethuel the Aramaean, the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau.And when Isaac had sent him away, he took his journey and went to Mesopotamia of Syria to Laban the son of Bathuel the Syrian, brother to Rebecca his mother.And Isaac sendeth away Jacob, and he goeth to Padan-Aram, unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Aramaean, brother of Rebekah, mother of Jacob and Esau.
Genesis 28:6So when Esau saw that Isaac had given Jacob his blessing, and sent him away to Paddan-aram to get a wife for himself there, blessing him and saying to him, Do not take a wife from among the women of Canaan;And Esau seeing that his father had blessed Jacob, and had sent him into Mesopotamia of Syria, to marry a wife thence; and that after the blessing he had charged him, saying: Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Chanaan:And Esau seeth that Isaac hath blessed Jacob, and hath sent him to Padan-Aram to take to himself from thence a wife in his blessing him that he layeth a charge upon him, saying, Thou dost not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan
Genesis 28:7And that Jacob had done as his father and mother said and had gone to Paddan-aram;And that Jacob obeying his parents was gone into Syria:that Jacob hearkeneth unto his father and unto his mother, and goeth to Padan-Aram
Genesis 28:8It was clear to Esau that his father had no love for the women of Canaan,Experiencing also that his father was not well pleased with the daughters of Chanaan:and Esau seeth that the daughters of Canaan are evil in the eyes of Isaac his father,
Genesis 28:9So Esau went to Ishmael and took Mahalath, the daughter of Abraham's son Ishmael, the sister of Nebaioth, to be his wife in addition to the wives he had.He went to Ismael, and took to wife, besides them he had before, Maheleth the daughter of Ismael, Abraham's son, the sister of Nabajoth.and Esau goeth unto Ishmael, and taketh Mahalath, daughter of Ishmael, Abraham`s son, sister of Nebajoth, unto his wives, to himself, for a wife.
Genesis 28:10So Jacob went out from Beer-sheba to go to Haran.But Jacob being departed from Bersabee, went on to Haran.And Jacob goeth out from Beer-Sheba, and goeth toward Haran,
Genesis 28:11And coming to a certain place, he made it his resting-place for the night, for the sun had gone down; and he took one of the stones which were there, and putting it under his head he went to sleep in that place.And when he was come to a certain place, and would rest in it after sunset, he took of the stones that lay there, and putting under his head, slept in the same place.and he toucheth at a [certain] place, and lodgeth there, for the sun hath gone in, and he taketh of the stones of the place, and maketh [them] his pillows, and lieth down in that place.
Genesis 28:12And he had a dream, and in his dream he saw steps stretching from earth to heaven, and the angels of God were going up and down on them.And he saw in his sleep a ladder standing upon the earth, and the top thereof touching heaven: the angels also of God ascending and descending by it;And he dreameth, and lo, a ladder set up on the earth, and its head is touching the heavens; and lo, messengers of God are going up and coming down by it;
Genesis 28:13And he saw the Lord by his side, saying, I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac: I will give to you and to your seed this land on which you are sleeping.And the Lord leaning upon the ladder, saying to him: I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac; the land, wherein thou sleepest, I will give to thee and to thy seed.and lo, Jehovah is standing upon it, and He saith, `I [am] Jehovah, God of Abraham thy father, and God of Isaac; the land on which thou art lying, to thee I give it, and to thy seed;
Genesis 28:14Your seed will be like the dust of the earth, covering all the land to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south: you and your seed will be a name of blessing to all the families of the earth.And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth: thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and IN THEE and thy seed all the tribes of the earth SHALL BE BLESSED.and thy seed hath been as the dust of the land, and thou hast broken forth westward, and eastward, and northward, and southward, and all families of the ground have been blessed in thee and in thy seed.
Genesis 28:15And truly, I will be with you, and will keep you wherever you go, guiding you back again to this land; and I will not give you up till I have done what I have said to you.And I will be thy keeper whithersoever thou goest, and will bring thee back into this land: neither will I leave thee, till I shall have accomplished all that I have said.`And lo, I [am] with thee, and have kept thee whithersoever thou goest, and have caused thee to turn back unto this ground; for I leave thee not till that I have surely done that which I have spoken to thee.`
Genesis 28:16And Jacob, awaking from his sleep, said, Truly, the Lord is in this place and I was not conscious of it.And when Jacob awaked out of sleep, he said: Indeed the Lord is in this place, and I knew it not.And Jacob awaketh out of his sleep, and saith, `Surely Jehovah is in this place, and I knew not;`
Genesis 28:17And fear came on him, and he said, This is a holy place; this is nothing less than the house of God and the doorway of heaven.And trembling he said: How terrible is this place! this is no other but the house of God, and the gate of heaven.and he feareth, and saith, `How fearful [is] this place; this is nothing but a house of God, and this a gate of the heavens.`
Genesis 28:18And early in the morning Jacob took the stone which had been under his head, and put it up as a pillar and put oil on it.And Jacob, arising in the morning, took the stone, which he had laid under his head, and set it up for a title, pouring oil upon the top of it.And Jacob riseth early in the morning, and taketh the stone which he hath made his pillows, and maketh it a standing pillar, and poureth oil upon its top,
Genesis 28:19And he gave that place the name of Beth-el, but before that time the town was named Luz.And he called the name of the city Bethel, which before was called Luza.and he calleth the name of that place Bethel, [house of God,] and yet, Luz [is] the name of the city at the first.
Genesis 28:20Then Jacob took an oath, and said, If God will be with me, and keep me safe on my journey, and give me food and clothing to put on,And he made a vow, saying: If God shall be with me, and shall keep me in the way by which I walk, and shall give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on,And Jacob voweth a vow, saying, `Seeing God is with me, and hath kept me in this way which I am going, and hath given to me bread to eat, and a garment to put on
Genesis 28:21So that I come again to my father's house in peace, then I will take the Lord to be my God,And I shall return prosperously to my father's house: the Lord shall be my God:when I have turned back in peace unto the house of my father, and Jehovah hath become my God,
Genesis 28:22And this stone which I have put up for a pillar will be God's house: and of all you give me, I will give a tenth part to you.And this stone, which I have set up for a title, shall called the house of God: and of all things that thou shalt give to me, I will offer tithes to thee.then this stone which I have made a standing pillar is a house of God, and all that Thou dost give to me tithing I tithe to Thee.`
