Galatians 2:1Then after the space of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus with me.Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also. Then after a lapse of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also with [me];
Galatians 2:2And I went up by revelation; and I put before them the good news which I was preaching among the Gentiles, but privately before those who were of good name, so that the work which I was or had been doing might not be without effect.And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain. and I went up according to revelation, and I laid before them the glad tidings which I preach among the nations, but privately to those conspicuous [among them], lest in any way I run or had run in vain;
Galatians 2:3But not even Titus who was with me, being a Greek, was made to undergo circumcision:But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised: (but neither was Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, compelled to be circumcised;)
Galatians 2:4And that because of the false brothers let in secretly, who came searching out our free condition which we have in Christ Jesus, so that they might make servants of us;And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage: and [it was] on account of the false brethren brought in surreptitiously, who came in surreptitiously to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage;
Galatians 2:5To whom we gave way not even for an hour; so that the true words of the good news might still be with you.To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you. to whom we yielded in subjection not even for an hour, that the truth of the glad tidings might remain with you.
Galatians 2:6But from those who seemed to be important (whatever they were has no weight with me: God does not take man's person into account): those who seemed to be important gave nothing new to me;But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man's person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me: But from those who were conspicuous as being somewhat whatsoever they were, it makes no difference to me: God does not accept man's person; for to me those who were conspicuous communicated nothing;
Galatians 2:7But, quite the opposite, when they saw that I had been made responsible for preaching the good news to those without circumcision, even as Peter had been for those of the circumcisionBut contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; but, on the contrary, seeing that the glad tidings of the uncircumcision were confided to me, even as to Peter that of the circumcision,
Galatians 2:8(Because he who was working in Peter as the Apostle of the circumcision was working no less in me among the Gentiles);(For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:) (for he that wrought in Peter for [the] apostleship of the circumcision wrought also in me towards the Gentiles,)
Galatians 2:9When they saw the grace which was given to me, James and Cephas and John, who had the name of being pillars, gave to me and Barnabas their right hands as friends so that we might go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision;And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision. and recognising the grace given to me, James and Cephas and John, who were conspicuous as being pillars, gave to me and Barnabas [the] right hands of fellowship, that *we* [should go] to the nations, and *they* to the circumcision;
Galatians 2:10Only it was their desire that we would give thought to the poor; which very thing I had much in mind to do.Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do. only that we should remember the poor, which same thing also I was diligent to do.
Galatians 2:11But when Cephas came to Antioch, I made a protest against him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong.But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. But when Peter came to Antioch, I withstood him to [the] face, because he was to be condemned:
Galatians 2:12For before certain men came from James, he did take food with the Gentiles: but when they came, he went back and made himself separate, fearing those who were of the circumcision.For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision. for before that certain came from James, he ate with [those of] the nations; but when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing those of [the] circumcision;
Galatians 2:13And the rest of the Jews went after him, so that even Barnabas was overcome by their false ways.And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation. and the rest of the Jews also played the same dissembling part with him; so that even Barnabas was carried away too by their dissimulation.
Galatians 2:14But when I saw that they were not living uprightly in agreement with the true words of the good news, I said to Cephas before them all, If you, being a Jew, are living like the Gentiles, and not like the Jews, how will you make the Gentiles do the same as the Jews?But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews? But when I saw that they do not walk straightforwardly, according to the truth of the glad tidings, I said to Peter before all, If *thou*, being a Jew, livest as the nations and not as the Jews, how dost thou compel the nations to Judaize?
Galatians 2:15We being Jews by birth, and not sinners of the Gentiles,We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, We, Jews by nature, and not sinners of [the] nations,
Galatians 2:16Being conscious that a man does not get righteousness by the works of the law, but through faith in Jesus Christ, we had faith in Christ Jesus, so that we might get righteousness by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law: because by the works of the law will no flesh get righteousness.Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. but knowing that a man is not justified on the principle of works of law [nor] but by the faith of Jesus Christ, *we* also have believed on Christ Jesus, that we might be justified on the principle of [the] faith of Christ; and not of works of law; because on the principle of works of law no flesh shall be justified.
Galatians 2:17But if, while we were desiring to get righteousness through Christ, we ourselves were seen to be sinners, is Christ a servant of sin? In no way!But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. Now if in seeking to be justified in Christ we also have been found sinners, then [is] Christ minister of sin? Far be the thought.
Galatians 2:18For if I put up again those things which I gave to destruction, I am seen to be a wrongdoer.For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. For if the things I have thrown down, these I build again, I constitute myself a transgressor.
Galatians 2:19For I, through the law, have become dead to the law, so that I might be living to God.For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. For *I*, through law, have died to law, that I may live to God.
Galatians 2:20I have been put to death on the cross with Christ; still I am living; no longer I, but Christ is living in me; and that life which I now am living in the flesh I am living by faith, the faith of the Son of God, who in love for me, gave himself up for me.I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I am crucified with Christ, and no longer live, *I*, but Christ lives in me; but [in] that I now live in flesh, I live by faith, the [faith] of the Son of God, who has loved me and given himself for me.
Galatians 2:21I do not make the grace of God of no effect: because if righteousness is through the law, then Christ was put to death for nothing.I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness [is] by law, then Christ has died for nothing.
