John 7:1After this, Jesus went from place to place in Galilee. He did not go about in Judaea, because the Jews were looking for a chance to put him to death. After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him. And after these things Jesus walked in Galilee, for he would not walk in Judaea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
John 7:2But the feast of the Jews, the feast of tents, was near. Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand. Now the tabernacles, the feast of the Jews, was near.
John 7:3So his brothers said to him, Go away from here into Judaea so that your disciples may see the works which you do.His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. His brethren therefore said to him, Remove hence and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see thy works which thou doest;
John 7:4Because no man does things secretly if he has a desire that men may have knowledge of him. If you do these things, let yourself be seen by all men.For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world. for no one does anything in secret and himself seeks to be [known] in public. If thou doest these things, manifest thyself to the world:
John 7:5For even his brothers had no belief in him.For neither did his brethren believe in him. for neither did his brethren believe on him.
John 7:6Jesus said to them, My time is still to come, but any time is good for you. Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready. Jesus therefore says to them, My time is not yet come, but your time is always ready.
John 7:7It is not possible for you to be hated by the world; but I am hated by it, because I give witness that what it does is evil. The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. The world cannot hate you, but me it hates, because I bear witness concerning it that its works are evil.
John 7:8Go you up to the feast: I am not going up now to the feast because my time has not fully come.Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come. Ye, go ye up to this feast. I go not up to this feast, for *my* time is not yet fulfilled.
John 7:9Having said these things to them, he still kept in Galilee. When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee. Having said these things to them he abode in Galilee.
John 7:10But after his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he went up, not publicly, but in secret. But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. But when his brethren had gone up, then he himself also went up to the feast, not openly, but as in secret.
John 7:11At the feast the Jews were looking for him and saying, Where is he?Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he? The Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?
John 7:12And there was much discussion about him among the mass of the people. Some said, He is a good man; but others said, No, he is giving people false ideas. And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people. And there was much murmuring concerning him among the crowds. Some said, He is [a] good [man]; others said, No; but he deceives the crowd.
John 7:13But no man said anything about him openly for fear of the Jews.Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews. However, no one spoke openly concerning him on account of [their] fear of the Jews.
John 7:14Now in the middle of the feast Jesus went up to the Temple and was teaching. Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. But when it was now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
John 7:15Then the Jews were surprised and said, How has this man got knowledge of books? He has never been to school. And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? The Jews therefore wondered, saying, How knows this [man] letters, having never learned?
John 7:16Jesus gave them this answer: It is not my teaching, but his who sent me.Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. Jesus therefore answered them and said, My doctrine is not mine, but [that] of him that has sent me.
John 7:17If any man is ready to do God's pleasure he will have knowledge of the teaching and of where it comes from from God or from myself. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. If any one desire to practise his will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is of God, or [that] I speak from myself.
John 7:18The man whose words come from himself is looking for glory for himself, but he who is looking for the glory of him who sent him that man is true and there is no evil in him.He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. He that speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but he that seeks the glory of him that has sent him, he is true, and unrighteousness is not in him.
John 7:19Did not Moses give you the law? Even so, not one of you keeps the law. Why have you a desire to put me to death?Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me? Has not Moses given you the law, and no one of you practises the law? Why do ye seek to kill me?
John 7:20The people said in answer, You have an evil spirit: who has any desire to put you to death? The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee? The crowd answered [and said], Thou hast a demon: who seeks to kill thee?
John 7:21This was the answer of Jesus: I have done one work and you are all surprised at it.Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel. Jesus answered and said to them, I have done one work, and ye all wonder.
John 7:22Moses gave you circumcision not that it comes from Moses, but from the fathers and even on the Sabbath you give a child circumcision.Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man. Therefore Moses gave you circumcision (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers), and ye circumcise a man on sabbath.
John 7:23If a child is given circumcision on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me because I made a man completely well on the Sabbath? If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? If a man receives circumcision on sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be violated, are ye angry with me because I have made a man entirely sound on sabbath?
John 7:24Let not your decisions be based on what you see, but on righteousness.Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. Judge not according to sight, but judge righteous judgment.
John 7:25Then some of the people of Jerusalem said, Is not this the man whose death is desired? Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill? Some therefore of those of Jerusalem said, Is not this he whom they seek to kill?
John 7:26And here he is talking openly and they say nothing to him! Is it possible that the rulers have knowledge that this is truly the Christ? But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ? and behold, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Have the rulers then indeed recognised that this is the Christ?
John 7:27However, it is clear to us where this man comes from: but when the Christ comes no one will have knowledge where he comes from.Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is. But [as to] this [man] we know whence he is. Now [as to] the Christ, when he comes, no one knows whence he is.
John 7:28Then, when he was teaching in the Temple, Jesus said with a loud voice, You have knowledge of me and you have knowledge of where I come from; and I have not come of myself; but there is One who has sent me; he is true, but you have no knowledge of him. Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not. Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, Ye both know me and ye know whence I am; and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye do not know.
John 7:29I have knowledge of him because I came from him and he sent me.But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me. I know him, because I am from him, and *he* has sent me.
John 7:30Then they had a desire to take him: but no man put hands on him because his hour was still to come. Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come. They sought therefore to take him; and no one laid his hand upon him, because his hour had not yet come.
John 7:31And numbers of the people had belief in him, and they said, When the Christ comes will he do more signs than this man has done? And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done? But many of the crowd believed on him, and said, Will the Christ, when he comes, do more signs than those which this [man] has done?
John 7:32This discussion of the people came to the ears of the Pharisees; and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent servants to take him.The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him. The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers that they might take him.
John 7:33Then Jesus said, I will be with you a little longer and then I go to him who sent me.Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me. Jesus therefore said, Yet a little while I am with you, and I go to him that has sent me.
John 7:34You will be looking for me, and you will not see me: and where I am you may not come.Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come. Ye shall seek me and shall not find [me], and where I am ye cannot come.
John 7:35So the Jews said among themselves, To what place is he going where we will not see him? will he go to the Jews living among the Greeks and become the teacher of the Greeks? Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles? The Jews therefore said to one another, Where is he about to go that we shall not find him? Is he about to go to the dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
John 7:36What is this saying of his, You will be looking for me and will not see me, and where I am you may not come? What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come? What word is this which he said, Ye shall seek me and shall not find [me]; and where I am ye cannot come?
John 7:37On the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus got up and said in a loud voice, If any man is in need of drink let him come to me and I will give it to him.In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. In the last, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried saying, If any one thirst, let him come to me and drink.
John 7:38He who has faith in me, out of his body, as the Writings have said, will come rivers of living water. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
John 7:39This he said of the Spirit which would be given to those who had faith in him: the Spirit had not been given then, because the glory of Jesus was still to come.(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) But this he said concerning the Spirit, which they that believed on him were about to receive; for [the] Spirit was not yet, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.
John 7:40When these words came to their ears, some of the people said, This is certainly the prophet. Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet. [Some] out of the crowd therefore, having heard this word, said, This is truly the prophet.
John 7:41Others said, This is the Christ. But others said, Not so; will the Christ come from Galilee?Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee? Others said, This is the Christ. Others said, Does then the Christ come out of Galilee?
John 7:42Do not the Writings say that the Christ comes of the seed of David and from Beth-lehem, the little town where David was?Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was? Has not the scripture said that the Christ comes of the seed of David, and from the village of Bethlehem, where David was?
John 7:43So there was a division among the people because of him.So there was a division among the people because of him. There was a division therefore in the crowd on account of him.
John 7:44And some of them had a desire to take him; but no man put hands on him.And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him. But some of them desired to take him, but no one laid hands upon him.
John 7:45Then the servants went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, Why have you not got him with you? Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him? The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, Why have ye not brought him?
John 7:46The servants made answer, No man ever said things like this man.The officers answered, Never man spake like this man. The officers answered, Never man spoke thus, as this man [speaks].
John 7:47Then the Pharisees said to them, Have you, like the others, been given false ideas? Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived? The Pharisees therefore answered them, Are ye also deceived?
John 7:48Have any of the rulers belief in him, or any one of the Pharisees?Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him? Has any one of the rulers believed on him, or of the Pharisees?
John 7:49But these people who have no knowledge of the law are cursed. But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed. But this crowd, which does not know the law, are accursed.
John 7:50Nicodemus he who had come to Jesus before, being himself one of them said to them,Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,) Nicodemus says to them (being one of themselves),
John 7:51Is a man judged by our law before it has given him a hearing and has knowledge of what he has done?Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth? Does our law judge a man before it have first heard from himself, and know what he does?
John 7:52This was their answer: And do you come from Galilee? Make search and you will see that no prophet comes out of Galilee. They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet. They answered and said to him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search and look, that no prophet arises out of Galilee.
John 7:53[And every man went to his house; And every man went unto his own house. And every one went to his home.
