John 1:1From the first he was the Word, and the Word was in relation with God and was God.In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:2This Word was from the first in relation with God.The same was in the beginning with God. The same was in the beginning with God.
John 1:3All things came into existence through him, and without him nothing was.All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. All things were made through him. Without him was not anything made that has been made.
John 1:4What came into existence in him was life, and the life was the light of men.In him was life; and the life was the light of men. In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
John 1:5And the light goes on shining in the dark; it is not overcome by the dark. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn't overcome it.
John 1:6There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. There came a man, sent from God, whose name was John.
John 1:7He came for witness, to give witness about the light, so that all men might have faith through him.The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. The same came as a witness, that he might testify about the light, that all might believe through him.
John 1:8He himself was not the light: he was sent to give witness about the light. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. He was not the light, but was sent that he might testify about the light.
John 1:9The true light, which gives light to every man, was then coming into the world. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.
John 1:10He was in the world, the world which came into being through him, but the world had no knowledge of him.He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world didn't recognize him.
John 1:11He came to the things which were his and his people did not take him to their hearts. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. He came to his own, and those who were his own didn't receive him.
John 1:12To all those who did so take him, however, he gave the right of becoming children of God that is, to those who had faith in his name:But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God's children, to those who believe in his name:
John 1:13Whose birth was from God and not from blood, or from an impulse of the flesh and man's desire.Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
John 1:14And so the Word became flesh and took a place among us for a time; and we saw his glory such glory as is given to an only son by his father saw it to be true and full of grace. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. The Word became flesh, and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:15John gave witness about him, crying, This is he of whom I said, He who is coming after me is put over me because he was in existence before me.John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. John testified about him. He cried out, saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me, for he was before me.'"
John 1:16From his full measure we have all been given grace on grace. And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. From his fullness we all received grace upon grace.
John 1:17For the law was given through Moses; grace and the true way of life are ours through Jesus Christ. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. For the law was given through Moses. Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
John 1:18No man has seen God at any time; the only Son, who is on the breast of the Father, he has made clear what God is.No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. No one has seen God at any time. The only conceived Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.
John 1:19And this is the witness of John when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to him with the question, Who are you?And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou? This is John's testimony, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who are you?"
John 1:20He said quite openly and straightforwardly, I am not the Christ. And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ. He confessed, and didn't deny, but he confessed, "I am not the Christ."
John 1:21And they said to him, What then? Are you Elijah? And he said, I am not. Are you the prophet? And his answer was, I am not.And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No. They asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the prophet?" He answered, "No."
John 1:22So they said to him, Who are you then? We have to give some answer to those who sent us. What have you to say about yourself? Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? They said therefore to him, "Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?"
John 1:23He said, I am the voice of one crying in the waste land, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said Isaiah the prophet. He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias. He said, "I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way of the Lord,' as Isaiah the prophet said."
John 1:24Those who had been sent came from the Pharisees. And they which were sent were of the Pharisees. The ones who had been sent were from the Pharisees.
John 1:25And they put this question to him, saying, Why then are you giving baptism if you are not the Christ, or Elijah, or the prophet? And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet? They asked him, "Why then do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?"
John 1:26John's answer was: I give baptism with water; but there is one among you of whom you have no knowledge;John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; John answered them, "I baptize in water, but among you stands one whom you don't know,
John 1:27It is he who is coming after me; I am not good enough to undo his shoes. He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose. he who comes after me, whose sandal strap I'm not worthy to untie."
John 1:28These things took place at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan, where John was giving baptism. These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing. These things were done in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
John 1:29The day after, John sees Jesus coming to him and says, See, here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. On the next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
John 1:30This is he of whom I said, One is coming after me who is put over me because he was in existence before me.This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. This is he of whom I said, 'After me comes a man who is preferred before me, for he was before me.'
John 1:31I myself had no knowledge of him, but I came giving baptism with water so that he might be seen openly by Israel. And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. I didn't know him, but for this reason I came baptizing in water: that he would be revealed to Israel."
John 1:32And John gave this witness, saying, I saw the Spirit coming down from heaven like a dove and resting on him.And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. John testified, saying, "I have seen the Spirit descending like a dove out of heaven, and it remained on him.
John 1:33I had no knowledge who he was, but he who sent me to give baptism with water said to me, The one on whom you see the Spirit coming down and resting, it is he who gives baptism with the Holy Spirit. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. I didn't recognize him, but he who sent me to baptize in water, he said to me, 'On whoever you will see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.'
John 1:34This I saw myself and my witness is that he is the Son of God.And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God. I have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God."
John 1:35The day after, John was there again with two of his disciples;Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; Again, on the next day, John was standing with two of his disciples,
John 1:36And looking at Jesus while he was walking he said, See, there is the Lamb of God!And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God!"
John 1:37Hearing what he said, the two disciples went after Jesus. And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
John 1:38And Jesus, turning round, saw them coming after him and said to them, What are you looking for? They said to him, Rabbi (which is to say, Master), where are you living? Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou? Jesus turned, and saw them following, and said to them, "What are you looking for?" They said to him, "Rabbi" (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), "where are you staying?"
John 1:38+He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour. He said to them, "Come, and see." They came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.
John 1:39He said to them, Come and see. They went with him then and saw where he was living; and they were with him all that day: it was then about the tenth hour of the day.One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. One of the two who heard John, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
John 1:40Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two men who, hearing what John said, went after Jesus. He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. He first found his own brother, Simon, and said to him, "We have found the Messiah!" (which is, being interpreted, Christ).
John 1:41Early in the morning he came across his brother and said to him, We have made discovery! It is the Messiah! (which is to say, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone. He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him, and said, "You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas" (which is by interpretation, Peter).
John 1:42And he took him to Jesus. Looking at him fixedly Jesus said, You are Simon, the son of John; your name will be Cephas (which is to say, Peter). The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me. On the next day, he was determined to go forth into Galilee, and he found Philip. Jesus said to him, "Follow me."
John 1:43The day after this, Jesus had a desire to go into Galilee. He came across Philip and said to him, Come and be my disciple. Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter.
John 1:44Now Philip's town was Beth-saida, where Andrew and Peter came from.Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, "We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, wrote: Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."
John 1:45Philip came across Nathanael and said to him, We have made a discovery! It is he of whom Moses, in the law, and the prophets were writing, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see. Nathanael said to him, "Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see."
John 1:46Nazareth! said Nathanael, Is it possible for any good to come out of Nazareth? Philip said to him, Come and see.Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and said about him, "Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!"
John 1:47Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him and said of him, See, here is a true son of Israel in whom there is nothing false.Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee. Nathanael says to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you."
John 1:48Nathanael said to him, Where did you get knowledge of me? In answer Jesus said, Before Philip was talking with you, while you were still under the fig-tree, I saw you.Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel. Nathanael answered him, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are King of Israel!"
John 1:49Nathanael said to him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God, you are King of Israel!Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these. Jesus answered him, "Because I told you, 'I saw you underneath the fig tree,' do you believe? You will see greater things than these."
John 1:50In answer Jesus said to him, You have faith because I said to you, I saw you under the fig-tree. You will see greater things than these. And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man. He said to him, "Most assuredly, I tell you, hereafter you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."
John 1:51And he said to him, Truly I say to you all, You will see heaven opening and God's angels going up and coming down on the Son of man.
