Luke 23:1And they all went and took him before Pilate.And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him to Pilate.And the whole multitude of them rising up, led him to Pilate.
Luke 23:2And they made statements against him, saying, This man has to our knowledge been teaching our nation to do wrong, and not to make payment of taxes to Caesar, even saying that he himself is Christ, a king.And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this man perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cesar, saying, that he himself is Christ a king.And they began to accuse him, saying: We have found this man perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he is Christ the king.
Luke 23:3And Pilate said to him, Are you the King of the Jews? And he said in answer, You say so.And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.And Pilate asked him, saying: Art thou the king of the Jews? But he answering, said: Thou sayest it.
Luke 23:4And Pilate said to the chief priests and the people, In my opinion this man has done no wrong.Then said Pilate to the chief priests, and to the people, I find no fault in this man.And Pilate said to the chief priests and to the multitudes: I find no cause in this man.
Luke 23:5But they became more violent than before, saying, He has made trouble among the people, teaching through all Judaea from Galilee to this place.And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee to this place.But they were more earnest, saying: He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee to this place.
Luke 23:6But at these words Pilate said, Is the man a Galilaean?When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man was a Galilean.But Pilate hearing Galilee, asked if the man were of Galilee?
Luke 23:7And when he saw that he was under the authority of Herod, he sent him to Herod, who was in Jerusalem himself at that time.And as soon as he knew that he belonged to Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself was also at Jerusalem at that time.And when he understood that he was of Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him away to Herod, who was also himself at Jerusalem, in those days.
Luke 23:8Now when Herod saw Jesus he was very glad, having for a long time had a desire to see him, for he had had accounts of him, and was hoping to see some wonders done by him.And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he had been for a long time, desirous to see him, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to see some miracle done by him.And Herod, seeing Jesus, was very glad; for he was desirous of a long time to see him, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to see some sign wrought by him.
Luke 23:9And he put a great number of questions to him, but he said nothing.Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.And he questioned him in many words. But he answered him nothing.
Luke 23:10And the chief priests and the scribes were there, making statements against him violently.And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.And the chief priests and the scribes stood by, earnestly accusing him.
Luke 23:11And Herod, with the men of his army, put shame on him and made sport of him, and dressing him in shining robes, he sent him back to Pilate.And Herod with his troops set him at naught, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.And Herod with his army set him at nought, and mocked him, putting on him a white garment, and sent him back to Pilate.
Luke 23:12And that day Herod and Pilate became friends with one another, for before they had been against one another.And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together; for before they were at enmity between themselves.And Herod and Pilate were made friends, that same day; for before they were enemies one to another.
Luke 23:13And Pilate sent for the chief priests and the rulers and the people, and said to them,And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests, and the rulers, and the people,And Pilate, calling together the chief priests, and the magistrates, and the people,
Luke 23:14You say that this man has been teaching the people evil things: now I, after going into the question before you, see nothing wrong in this man in connection with the things which you have said against him:Said to them, Ye have brought this man to me, as one that perverteth the people: and behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man, touching those things of which ye accuse him;Said to them: You have presented unto me this man, as one that perverteth the people; and behold I, having examined him before you, find no cause in this man, in those things wherein you accuse him.
Luke 23:15And Herod is of the same opinion, for he has sent him back to us; for, you see, he has done nothing for which I might put him to death.No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and lo, nothing worthy of death is done to him:No, nor Herod neither. For I sent you to him, and behold, nothing worthy of death is done to him.
Luke 23:16And so I will give him punishment and let him go.I will therefore chastise him, and release him.I will chastise him therefore, and release him.
Luke 23:17[](For of necessity he must release one to them at the feast.)Now of necessity he was to release unto them one upon the feast day.
Luke 23:18But with loud voices they said all together, Put this man to death, and make Barabbas free.And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas:But the whole multitude together cried out, saying: Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:
Luke 23:19Now this man was in prison because of an attack against the government in the town, in which there had been loss of life.(Who, for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)Who, for a certain sedition made in the city, and for a murder, was cast into prison.
Luke 23:20And Pilate again said to them that it was his desire to let Jesus go free.Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spoke again to them.And Pilate again spoke to them, desiring to release Jesus.
Luke 23:21But crying out they said, To the cross with him!But they cried, saying, Crucify, crucify him.But they cried again, saying: Crucify him, crucify him.
Luke 23:22And he said to them a third time, Why, what evil has he done? I see no reason for putting him to death: I will give him punishment and let him go.And he said to them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him; I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.And he said to them the third time: Why, what evil hath this man done? I find no cause of death in him. I will chastise him therefore, and let him go.
Luke 23:23But they went on crying out loudly, Let him be put to death on the cross. And they had their way.And they were urgent with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified: and the voices of them, and of the chief priests prevailed.But they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified; and their voices prevailed.
Luke 23:24And Pilate gave his decision for their desire to be put into effect.And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.
Luke 23:25And in answer to their request, he let that man go free who had been in prison for acting against the government and causing death, and Jesus he gave up to their pleasure.And he released to them him that for sedition and murder had been cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.And he released unto them him who for murder and sedition, had been cast into prison, whom they had desired; but Jesus he delivered up to their will.
Luke 23:26And while they were taking him away, they put their hands on Simon of Cyrene, who was coming from the country, and made him take the cross after Jesus.And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.And as they led him away, they laid hold of one Simon of Cyrene, coming from the country; and they laid the cross on him to carry after Jesus.
Luke 23:27And a great band of people went after him, and of women making signs of grief and weeping for him.And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, who also bewailed and lamented him.And there followed him a great multitude of people, and of women, who bewailed and lamented him.

Luke 23:29For the days are coming in which they will say, Happy are those who have had no children, whose bodies have never given birth, whose breasts have never given milk.For behold, the days are coming, in which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts which never nourished infants.For behold, the days shall come, wherein they will say: Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that have not borne, and the paps that have not given suck.
Luke 23:30And they will say to the mountains, Come down on us, and to the hills, Be a cover over us.Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.Then shall they begin to say to the mountains: Fall upon us; and to the hills: Cover us.
Luke 23:31For if they do these things when the tree is green, what will they do when it is dry?For if they do these things in a green tree, what will be done in the dry?For if in the green wood they do these things, what shall be done in the dry?
Luke 23:32And two others, evil-doers, were taken with him to be put to death.And two others, who were malefactors, were led with him to be put to death.And there were also two other malefactors led with him to be put to death.
Luke 23:33And when they came to the place which is named Golgotha, they put him on the cross, and the evil-doers, one on the right side, and the other on the left.And when they had come to the place which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors; one on the right hand, and the other on the left.And when they were come to the place which is called Calvary, they crucified him there; and the robbers, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
Luke 23:34And Jesus said, Father, let them have forgiveness, for they have no knowledge of what they are doing. And they made division of his clothing among them by the decision of chance.Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them: for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.And Jesus said: Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. But they, dividing his garments, cast lots.
Luke 23:35And the people were looking on. And the rulers made sport of him, saying, He was a saviour of others; let him do something for himself, if he is the Christ, the man of God's selection.And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he is Christ the chosen of God.And the people stood beholding, and the rulers with them derided him, saying: He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the elect of God.

Luke 23:37And saying, If you are the King of the Jews, get yourself free.And saying, If thou art the King of the Jews, save thyself.And saying: If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.

Luke 23:39And one of the evil-doers on the cross, with bitter feeling, said to him, Are you not the Christ? Get yourself and us out of this.And one of the malefactors, who were hanged, railed on him, saying, If thou art Christ, save thyself and us.And one of those robbers who were hanged, blasphemed him, saying: If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
Luke 23:40But the other, protesting, said, Have you no fear of God? for you have a part in the same punishment,But the other answering, rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?But the other answering, rebuked him, saying: Neither dost thou fear God, seeing thou art condemned under the same condemnation?
Luke 23:41And with reason; for we have the right reward of our acts, but this man has done nothing wrong.And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this man hath done no evil.
Luke 23:42And he said, Jesus, keep me in mind when you come in your kingdom.And he said to Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.And he said to Jesus: Lord, remember me when thou shalt come into thy kingdom.
Luke 23:43And he said to him, Truly I say to you, Today you will be with me in Paradise.And Jesus said to him, Verily I say to thee, This day shalt thou be with me in paradise.And Jesus said to him: Amen I say to thee, this day thou shalt be with me in paradise.
Luke 23:44And it was now about the sixth hour; and all the land was dark till the ninth hour;And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.And it was almost the sixth hour; and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
Luke 23:45The light of the sun went out, and the curtain in the Temple was parted in two.And the sun was darkened, and the vail of the temple was rent in the midst.And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
Luke 23:46And Jesus gave a loud cry and said, Father, into your hands I give my spirit: and when he had said this, he gave up his spirit.And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he expired.And Jesus crying out with a loud voice, said: Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit. And saying this, he gave up the ghost.
Luke 23:47And when the captain saw what was done, he gave praise to God, saying, Without doubt this was an upright man.Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.Now the centurion, seeing what was done, glorified God, saying: Indeed this was a just man.
Luke 23:48And all the people who had come together to see it, when they saw the things which were done, went back again making signs of grief.And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.And all the multitude of them that were come together to that sight, and saw the things that were done, returned striking their breasts.
Luke 23:49And all his friends and the women who came with him from Galilee, were waiting at a distance, watching these things.And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off beholding these things.And all his acquaintance, and the women that had followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.
Luke 23:50Now there was a man named Joseph, a man of authority and a good and upright manAnd behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counselor: and he was a good man, and a just:And behold there was a man named Joseph, who was a counsellor, a good and just man,
Luke 23:51(He had not given his approval to their decision or their acts), of Arimathaea, a town of the Jews, who was waiting for the kingdom of God:(The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them) he was of Arimathea, a city of the Jews; who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.(The same had not consented to their counsel and doings;) of Arimathea, a city of Judea; who also himself looked for the kingdom of God.
Luke 23:52This man went to Pilate and made a request for the body of Jesus.This man went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.This man went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
Luke 23:53And he took it down, and folding it in a linen cloth, he put it in a place cut in the rock for a dead body; and no one had ever been put in it.And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulcher that was hewn in stone, in which man was never before laid.And taking him down, he wrapped him in fine linen, and laid him in a sepulchre that was hewed in stone, wherein never yet any man had been laid.
Luke 23:54Now it was the day of making ready and the Sabbath was coming on.And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.And it was the day of the Parasceve, and the sabbath drew on.
Luke 23:55And the women who had come with him from Galilee went after him and saw the place and how his body had been put to rest;And the women also, who came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulcher, and how his body was laid.And the women that were come with him from Galilee, following after, saw the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
Luke 23:56And they went back and got ready spices and perfumes; and on the Sabbath they took their rest, in agreement with the law.And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested on the sabbath, according to the commandment.And returning, they prepared spices and ointments; and on the sabbath day they rested, according to the commandment.
