Mark 1:1The first words of the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God;The beginning of the Good News of Jesus Christ the Son of God.
Mark 1:2Even as it is said in the book of Isaiah the prophet, See, I send my servant before your face, who will make ready your way;As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee;As it is written in Isaiah the Prophet, "See, I am sending My messenger before Thee, Who will prepare Thy way";
Mark 1:3The voice of one crying in the waste land, Make ready the way of the Lord, make his roads straight;The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight."The voice of one crying aloud: `In the Desert prepare a road for the Lord: Make His highways straight.'"
Mark 1:4John came, and gave baptism in the waste land, preaching baptism as a sign of forgiveness of sin for those whose hearts were changed.John was baptizing in the wilderness, and preaching the baptism of repentance, for the remission of sins.So John the Baptizer came, and was in the Desert proclaiming a baptism of the penitent for forgiveness of sins.
Mark 1:5And there went out to him all the people of Judaea, and all those of Jerusalem, and they were given baptism by him in the river Jordan, saying that they were sinners.And there went out to him all the land of Judea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.There went out to him people of all classes from Judaea, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem of all ranks, and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, making open confession of their sins.
Mark 1:6And John was clothed in camel's hair, with a leather band about him; and his food was locusts and honey.And John was clothed with camels hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he ate locusts and wild honey;As for John, his garment was of camel's hair, and he wore a loincloth of leather; and his food was locusts and wild honey.
Mark 1:7And he said to them all, There is one coming after me who is greater than I, whose shoes I am not good enough to undo.And preached, saying, There cometh after me one mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.His announcement was, "There is One coming after me mightier than I One whose sandal-strap I am unworthy to stoop down and unfasten.
Mark 1:8I have given you baptism with water, but he will give you baptism with the Holy Spirit.I indeed have baptized you with water: but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.I have baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
Mark 1:9And it came about in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was given baptism by John in the Jordan.And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth to Galilee, and was baptized by John in Jordan.At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan;
Mark 1:10And straight away, coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens broken open and the Spirit coming down on him as a dove:And immediately coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him.and immediately on His coming up out of the water He saw an opening in the sky, and the Spirit like a dove coming down to Him;
Mark 1:11And a voice came out of heaven, You are my dearly loved Son, with whom I am well pleased.And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.and a voice came from the sky, saying, "Thou art My Son dearly loved: in Thee is My delight."
Mark 1:12And straight away the Spirit sent him out into the waste land.And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness.At once the Spirit impelled Him to go out into the Desert,
Mark 1:13And he was in the waste land for forty days, being tested by Satan; and he was with the beasts; and the angels took care of him.And he was there in the wilderness forty days tempted by Satan: and was with the wild beasts, and the angels ministered to him.where He remained for forty days, tempted by Satan; and He was among the wild beasts, but the angels waited upon Him.
Mark 1:14Now after John had been put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the good news of God,Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,Then, after John had been thrown into prison, Jesus came into Galilee proclaiming God's Good News.
Mark 1:15And saying, The time has come, and the kingdom of God is near: let your hearts be turned from sin and have faith in the good news.And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel."The time has fully come," He said, "and the Kingdom of God is close at hand: repent, and believe this Good News.
Mark 1:16And going by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon, and Andrew, the brother of Simon, putting a net into the sea: for they were fishermen.Now as he was walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.One day, passing along the shore of the Lake of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew, Simon's brother, throwing their nets in the Lake; for they were fisherman.
Mark 1:17And Jesus said to them, Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.And Jesus said to them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men."Come and follow me," said Jesus, "and I will make you fishers for men."
Mark 1:18And they went straight from their nets, and came after him.And immediately they forsook their nets, and followed him.At once they left their nets and followed Him.
Mark 1:19And going on a little farther, he saw James, the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who were in their boat stitching up their nets.And when he had gone a little further thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending their nets.Going on a little further He saw James the son of Zabdi and his brother John: they also were in the boat mending the nets, and He immediately called them.
Mark 1:20And he said, Come after me: and they went away from their father Zebedee, who was in the boat with the servants, and came after him.And immediately he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him.They therefore left their father Zabdi in the boat with the hired men, and went and followed Him.
Mark 1:21And they came to Capernaum; and on the Sabbath he went into the Synagogue and gave teaching.And they went into Capernaum; and immediately on the sabbath he entered into the synagogue and taught.So they came to Capernaum, and on the next Sabbath He went to the synagogue and began to teach.
Mark 1:22And they were full of wonder at his teaching, because he gave it as one having authority, and not like the scribes.And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.The people listened with amazement to His teaching for there was authority about it: it was very different from that of the Scribes
Mark 1:23And there was in their Synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he gave a cry,And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,when all at once, there in their synagogue, a man under the power of a foul spirit screamed out:
Mark 1:24Saying, What have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth? have you come to put an end to us? I see well who you are, the Holy One of God.Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God."What have you to do with us, Jesus the Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are God's Holy One."
Mark 1:25And Jesus said to him sharply, Be quiet, and come out of him.And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.But Jesus reprimanded him, saying, "Silence! come out of him."
Mark 1:26And the unclean spirit, shaking him violently, and crying with a loud voice, came out of him.And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.So the foul spirit, after throwing the man into convulsions, came out of him with a loud cry.
Mark 1:27And they were all greatly surprised, so that they put questions to one another, saying, What is this? a new teaching! with authority he gives orders even to the unclean spirits, and they do what he says.And they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority he commandeth even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.And all were amazed and awe-struck, so they began to ask one another, "What does this mean? Here is a new sort of teaching and a tone of authority! And even to foul spirits he issues orders and they obey him!"
Mark 1:28And news of him went out quickly everywhere into all parts of Galilee round about.And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region around Galilee.And His fame spread at once everywhere in all that part of Galilee.
Mark 1:29And when they came out of the Synagogue, they went into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.And forthwith, when they had come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.Then on leaving the synagogue they came at once, with James and John, to the house of Simon and Andrew.
Mark 1:30Now Simon's wife's mother was ill, with a burning heat; and they gave him word of her:But the mother of Simon's wife lay sick with a fever; and forthwith they tell him of her.Now Simon's mother-in-law was ill in bed with a fever, and without delay they informed Him about her.
Mark 1:31And he came and took her by the hand, lifting her up; and she became well, and took care of their needs.And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered to them.So He went to her, and taking her hand He raised her to her feet: the fever left her, and she began to wait upon them.
Mark 1:32And in the evening, at sundown, they took to him all who were diseased, and those who had evil spirits.And at evening, when the sun had set, they brought to him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with demons.When it was evening, after sunset people came bringing Him all who were sick and the demoniacs;
Mark 1:33And all the town had come together at the door.And all the city was gathered at the door.and the whole town was assembled at the door.
Mark 1:34And a number, who were ill with different diseases, he made well, and sent out evil spirits; but he did not let the evil spirits say anything, because they had knowledge of him.And he healed many that were sick with divers diseases, and cast out many demons; and suffered not the demons to speak, because they knew him.Then He cured numbers of people who were ill with various diseases, and He drove out many demons; not allowing the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.
Mark 1:35And in the morning, a long time before daylight, he got up and went out to a quiet place, and there he gave himself up to prayer.And in the morning, rising a great while before day, he went out and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.In the morning He rose early, while it was still quite dark, and leaving the house He went away to a solitary place and there prayed.
Mark 1:36And Simon and those who were with him came after him.And Simon, and they that were with him, followed after him.And Simon and the others searched everywhere for Him.
Mark 1:37And when they came up with him, they said to him, Everyone is looking for you.And when they had found him, they said to him, All men seek for thee.When they found Him they said, "Every one is looking for you."
Mark 1:38And he said to them, Let us go to other parts into the nearest towns, so that I may give teaching there, because for this purpose I came.And he said to them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for, for this purpose have I come."Let us go elsewhere, to the neighbouring country towns," He replied, "that I may proclaim my Message there also; because for that purpose I came from God."
Mark 1:39And he went into their Synagogues in every part of Galilee, preaching and driving out evil spirits.And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out demons.And He went through all Galilee, preaching in the synagogues and expelling the demons.
Mark 1:40And a leper came to him and, going down on his knees before him, made a request, saying, If it is your pleasure, you have the power to make me clean.And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying to him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.One day there came a leper to Jesus entreating Him, and pleading on his knees. "If you are willing," he said, "you are able to cleanse me."
Mark 1:41And being moved with pity, he put out his hand, and touching him said to him, It is my pleasure; be made clean.And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith to him, I will; be thou clean.Moved with pity Jesus reached out His hand and touched him. "I am willing," He said; "be cleansed."
Mark 1:42And straight away the disease went from him, and he was made clean.And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.The leprosy at once left him, and he was cleansed.
Mark 1:43And he sent him away, saying to him very sharply,And he strictly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;Jesus at once sent him away, strictly charging him,
Mark 1:44See that you say nothing to any man: but go and let the priest see you, and make yourself clean by an offering of the things ordered by Moses, for a witness to them.And saith to him, See thou say nothing to any man; but go, show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.and saying, "Be careful not to tell any one, but go and show yourself to the Priest, and for your purification present the offerings that Moses appointed as evidence for them."
Mark 1:45But he went out, and made it public, giving an account of it everywhere, so that Jesus was no longer able to go openly into a town, but was outside in the waste land; and they came to him from every part.But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, so that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.But the man, when he went out, began to tell every one and to publish the matter abroad, so that it was no longer possible for Jesus to go openly into any town; but He had to remain outside in unfrequented places, where people came to Him from all parts.
