Hebrews 4:1Let us then, though we still have God's word that we may come into his rest, go in fear that some of you may be unable to do so.Let us therefore fear, lest a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.Let us fear therefore, lest perhaps a promise being left of entering into his rest, anyone of you should seem to have come short of it.
Hebrews 4:2And, truly, the good news came to us, even as it did to them; but the hearing of the word did them no good, because they were not united in faith with the true hearers. For to us was the gospel preached, as well as to them: but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.For indeed we have had good news preached to us, even as also they, but the word of hearing did not profit them, because it was not mixed with faith by those who heard.
Hebrews 4:3For those of us who have belief come into his rest; even as he has said, As I said in my oath when I was angry, They may not come into my rest: though the works were done from the time of the making of the world. For we who have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For we who have believed do enter into that rest, even as he has said, "As I swore in my wrath, They will not enter into my rest;" although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Hebrews 4:4For in one place he has said of the seventh day, And God had rest from all his works on the seventh day;For he spoke in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God rested the seventh day from all his works. For he has said somewhere about the seventh day like this, "God rested on the seventh day from all his works;"
Hebrews 4:5And in the same place he says again, They will not come into my rest. And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.and in this place again, "They will not enter into my rest."
Hebrews 4:6So that as it is clear that some have to go in, and that the first hearers of the good news were not able to go in because they went against God's orders,Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter into it, and they to whom it was first preached entered not because of unbelief:Seeing therefore it remains that some should enter therein, and they to whom the good news were before preached failed to enter in because of disobedience,
Hebrews 4:7After a long time, again naming a certain day, he says in David, Today (as he had said before), Today if you will let his voice come to your ears, be not hard of heart,(Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To-day, after so long a time; as it is said, To-day, if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.he again defines a certain day, today, saying through David so long a time afterward (just as has been said), "Today if you will hear his voice, Don't harden your hearts."
Hebrews 4:8For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have said anything about another day.For if Jesus had given them rest, then he would not afterward have spoken of another day.For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken afterward of another day.
Hebrews 4:9So that there is still a Sabbath-keeping for the people of God.There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God.
Hebrews 4:10For the man who comes into his rest has had rest from his works, as God did from his.For he that hath entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.)For he who has entered into his rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from his.
Hebrews 4:11Because of this, let us have a strong desire to come into that rest, and let no one go after the example of those who went against God's orders.Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, that no man fall after the same example of disobedience.
Hebrews 4:12For the word of God is living and full of power, and is sharper than any two-edged sword, cutting through and making a division even of the soul and the spirit, the bones and the muscles, and quick to see the thoughts and purposes of the heart. For the word of God is living, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hebrews 4:13And there is nothing made which is not completely clear to him; there is nothing covered, but all things are open to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.There is no creature that is hidden from his sight, but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
Hebrews 4:14Having then a great high priest, who has made his way through the heavens, even Jesus the Son of God, let us be strong in our faith.Seeing then that we have a great High Priest, that hath passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.Having then a great high priest, who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold tightly to our confession.
Hebrews 4:15For we have not a high priest who is not able to be touched by the feelings of our feeble flesh; but we have one who has been tested in all points as we ourselves are tested, but without sin.For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but who was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.For we don't have a high priest who can't be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.
Hebrews 4:16Then let us come near to the seat of grace without fear, so that mercy may be given to us, and we may get grace for our help in time of need.Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for timely help.
