John 7:1After this, Jesus went from place to place in Galilee. He did not go about in Judaea, because the Jews were looking for a chance to put him to death. After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him. After these things, Jesus walked in Galilee, for he would not walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
John 7:2But the feast of the Jews, the feast of tents, was near. Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand. Now the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Booths, was at hand.
John 7:3So his brothers said to him, Go away from here into Judaea so that your disciples may see the works which you do.His brethren therefore said to him, Depart hence, and go into Judea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. His brothers therefore said to him, "Depart from here, and go into Judea, that your disciples also may see your works which you do.
John 7:4Because no man does things secretly if he has a desire that men may have knowledge of him. If you do these things, let yourself be seen by all men.For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou doest these things, show thyself to the world. For no man does anything in secret, and himself seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, reveal yourself to the world."
John 7:5For even his brothers had no belief in him.(For neither did his brethren believe in him.)For even his brothers didn't believe in him.
John 7:6Jesus said to them, My time is still to come, but any time is good for you. Then Jesus said to them, My time is not yet come: but your time is always ready.Jesus therefore said to them, "My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.
John 7:7It is not possible for you to be hated by the world; but I am hated by it, because I give witness that what it does is evil. The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify concerning it, that its works are evil. The world can't hate you, but it hates me, because I testify about it, that its works are evil.
John 7:8Go you up to the feast: I am not going up now to the feast because my time has not fully come.Go ye up to this feast: I go not yet to this feast, for my time is not yet full come. You go up to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, because my time is not yet fulfilled."
John 7:9Having said these things to them, he still kept in Galilee. When he had said these words to them, he abode still in Galilee.Having said these things to them, he stayed in Galilee.
John 7:10But after his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he went up, not publicly, but in secret. But when his brethren had gone up, then he went also to the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly, but as it were in secret.
John 7:11At the feast the Jews were looking for him and saying, Where is he?Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?The Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, "Where is he?"
John 7:12And there was much discussion about him among the mass of the people. Some said, He is a good man; but others said, No, he is giving people false ideas. And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, No; but he deceiveth the people. There was much murmuring among the multitudes concerning him. Some said, "He is a good man." Others said, "Not so, but he leads the multitude astray."
John 7:13But no man said anything about him openly for fear of the Jews.Yet, no man spoke openly of him, for fear of the Jews.Yet no one spoke openly of him for fear of the Jews.
John 7:14Now in the middle of the feast Jesus went up to the Temple and was teaching. Now about the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. But when it was now the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
John 7:15Then the Jews were surprised and said, How has this man got knowledge of books? He has never been to school. And the Jews marveled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? The Jews therefore marveled, saying, "How does this man know letters, having never been educated?"
John 7:16Jesus gave them this answer: It is not my teaching, but his who sent me.Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.Jesus therefore answered them, "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.
John 7:17If any man is ready to do God's pleasure he will have knowledge of the teaching and of where it comes from from God or from myself. If any man will do his will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God, or whether I speak from myself. If anyone desires to do his will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is from God, or if I speak from myself.
John 7:18The man whose words come from himself is looking for glory for himself, but he who is looking for the glory of him who sent him that man is true and there is no evil in him.He that speaketh from himself, seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
John 7:19Did not Moses give you the law? Even so, not one of you keeps the law. Why have you a desire to put me to death?Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?Didn't Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill me?"
John 7:20The people said in answer, You have an evil spirit: who has any desire to put you to death? The people answered and said, Thou hast a demon: who goeth about to kill thee? The multitude answered, "You have a demon! Who seeks to kill you?"
John 7:21This was the answer of Jesus: I have done one work and you are all surprised at it.Jesus answered and said to them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel.Jesus answered them, "I did one work, and you all marvel because of it.
John 7:22Moses gave you circumcision not that it comes from Moses, but from the fathers and even on the Sabbath you give a child circumcision.Moses therefore gave to you circumcision, (not because it is from Moses, but from the fathers) and ye on the sabbath circumcise a man.Moses has given you circumcision (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a boy.
John 7:23If a child is given circumcision on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me because I made a man completely well on the Sabbath? If a man on the sabbath receiveth circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have restored a man to sound health on the sabbath? If a boy receives circumcision on the Sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me, because I made a man every bit whole on the Sabbath?
John 7:24Let not your decisions be based on what you see, but on righteousness.Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.Don't judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment."
John 7:25Then some of the people of Jerusalem said, Is not this the man whose death is desired? Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he whom they seek to kill? Some therefore of them of Jerusalem said, "Isn't this he whom they seek to kill?
John 7:26And here he is talking openly and they say nothing to him! Is it possible that the rulers have knowledge that this is truly the Christ? But lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing to him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?Behold, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Can it be that the rulers indeed know that this is truly the Christ?
John 7:27However, it is clear to us where this man comes from: but when the Christ comes no one will have knowledge where he comes from. But we know this man, whence he is: whereas when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.However we know where this man comes from, but when the Christ comes, no one will know where he comes from."
John 7:28Then, when he was teaching in the Temple, Jesus said with a loud voice, You have knowledge of me and you have knowledge of where I come from; and I have not come of myself; but there is One who has sent me; he is true, but you have no knowledge of him. Then cried Jesus in the temple, as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, "You both know me, and know where I am from. I have not come of myself, but he who sent me is true, whom you don't know.
John 7:29I have knowledge of him because I came from him and he sent me.But I know him; for I am from him, and he hath sent me.I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me."
John 7:30Then they had a desire to take him: but no man put hands on him because his hour was still to come. Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come. They sought therefore to take him. No one laid a hand on him, because his hour was not yet come.
John 7:31And numbers of the people had belief in him, and they said, When the Christ comes will he do more signs than this man has done? And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done? But of the multitude, many believed in him. They said, "When the Christ comes, will he do more signs than those which this man has done?"
John 7:32This discussion of the people came to the ears of the Pharisees; and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent servants to take him.The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him: and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to take him.
John 7:33Then Jesus said, I will be with you a little longer and then I go to him who sent me.Then said Jesus to them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go to him that sent me.Then Jesus said, "Yet a little while, am I with you, then I go to him who sent me.
John 7:34You will be looking for me, and you will not see me: and where I am you may not come.Ye will seek me, and will not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come. You will seek me, and won't find me; and where I am, you can't come."
John 7:35So the Jews said among themselves, To what place is he going where we will not see him? will he go to the Jews living among the Greeks and become the teacher of the Greeks? Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go to the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles? The Jews therefore said among themselves, "Where will this man go that we won't find him? Will he go to the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
John 7:36What is this saying of his, You will be looking for me and will not see me, and where I am you may not come? What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye will seek me, and will not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come? What is this word that he said, 'You will seek me, and won't find me; and where I am, you can't come?'"
John 7:37On the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus got up and said in a loud voice, If any man is in need of drink let him come to me and I will give it to him.In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirsteth, let him come to me, and drink. Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink!
John 7:38He who has faith in me, out of his body, as the Writings have said, will come rivers of living water. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water."
John 7:39This he said of the Spirit which would be given to those who had faith in him: the Spirit had not been given then, because the glory of Jesus was still to come.(But this he spoke of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive, for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus wasn't yet glorified.
John 7:40When these words came to their ears, some of the people said, This is certainly the prophet. Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, In truth this is the Prophet. Many of the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, said, "This is truly the prophet."
John 7:41Others said, This is the Christ. But others said, Not so; will the Christ come from Galilee?Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Will Christ come out of Galilee?Others said, "This is the Christ." But some said, "What, does the Christ come out of Galilee?
John 7:42Do not the Writings say that the Christ comes of the seed of David and from Beth-lehem, the little town where David was?Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh from the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?Hasn't the scripture said that the Christ comes of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?"
John 7:43So there was a division among the people because of him.So there was a division among the people because of him.So there arose a division in the multitude because of him.
John 7:44And some of them had a desire to take him; but no man put hands on him.And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him. Some of them would have taken him, but no one laid hands on him.
John 7:45Then the servants went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, Why have you not got him with you? Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said to them, Why have ye not brought him?The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, "Why didn't you bring him?"
John 7:46The servants made answer, No man ever said things like this man.The officers answered, Never man spoke like this man.The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this man!"
John 7:47Then the Pharisees said to them, Have you, like the others, been given false ideas? Then the Pharisees answered them, Are ye also deceived? The Pharisees therefore answered them, "Are you also led astray?
John 7:48Have any of the rulers belief in him, or any one of the Pharisees?Have any of the rulers, or of the Pharisees believed on him?Has any of the rulers believed in him, or of the Pharisees?
John 7:49But these people who have no knowledge of the law are cursed. But this people who know not the law are cursed. But this cursed multitude doesn't know the law."
John 7:50Nicodemus he who had come to Jesus before, being himself one of them said to them,Nicodemus saith to them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them)Nicodemus (he who came to him by night, being one of them) said to them,
John 7:51Is a man judged by our law before it has given him a hearing and has knowledge of what he has done?Doth our law judge any man before it heareth him, and knoweth what he doeth?"Does our law judge a man, unless it first hears from him personally and knows what he does?"
John 7:52This was their answer: And do you come from Galilee? Make search and you will see that no prophet comes out of Galilee. They answered and said to him, Art thou also from Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet. They answered him, "Are you also from Galilee? Search, and see that no prophet has arisen out of Galilee."
John 7:53[And every man went to his house; And every man went to his own house.Everyone went to his own house,
