1st-Peter 1:1Peter, an Apostle of Jesus Christ, to the saints who are living in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,Peter, an Apostle of Jesus Christ: To God's own people scattered over the earth, who are living as foreigners in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Roman Asia, and Bithynia,Peter, apostle of Jesus Christ, to [the] sojourners of [the] dispersion of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
1st-Peter 1:2Who, through the purpose of God, have been made holy by the Spirit, disciples of Jesus, made clean by his blood: May you have grace and peace in full measure.chosen in accordance with the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, with a view to their obedience and to their being sprinkled with the blood of Jesus Christ. May more and more grace and peace be granted to you.elect according to [the] foreknowledge of God [the] Father, by sanctification of [the] Spirit, unto [the] obedience and sprinkling of [the] blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.
1st-Peter 1:3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who through his great mercy has given us a new birth and a living hope by the coming again of Jesus Christ from the dead,Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who in His great mercy has begotten us anew to an ever-living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his great mercy, has begotten us again to a living hope through [the] resurrection of Jesus Christ from among [the] dead,
1st-Peter 1:4And a heritage fair, holy and for ever new, waiting in heaven for you,to an inheritance imperishable, undefiled and unfading, which has been reserved in Heaven for you,to an incorruptible and undefiled and unfading inheritance, reserved in [the] heavens for you,
1st-Peter 1:5Who, by the power of God are kept, through faith, for that salvation, which will be seen at the last day.whom God in His power is guarding through faith for a salvation that even now stands ready for unveiling at the End of the Age.who are kept guarded by [the] power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in [the] last time.
1st-Peter 1:6You have cause for great joy in this, though it may have been necessary for you to be troubled for a little time, being tested in all sorts of ways,Rejoice triumphantly in the prospect of this, even if now, for a short time, you are compelled to sorrow amid various trials.Wherein ye exult, for a little while at present, if needed, put to grief by various trials,
1st-Peter 1:7So that the true metal of your faith, being of much greater value than gold (which, though it comes to an end, is tested by fire), may come to light in praise and glory and honour, at the revelation of Jesus Christ:The sorrow comes in order that the testing of your faith being more precious than that of gold, which perishes and yet is proved by fire may be found to result in praise and glory and honour at the re-appearing of Jesus Christ.that the proving of your faith, much more precious than of gold which perishes, though it be proved by fire, be found to praise and glory and honour in [the] revelation of Jesus Christ:
1st-Peter 1:8To whom your love is given, though you have not seen him; and the faith which you have in him, though you do not see him now, gives you joy greater than words and full of glory:Him you love, though your eyes have never looked on Him. In Him, though at present you cannot see Him, you nevertheless trust, and triumph with a joy which is unspeakable and is crowned with glory,whom, having not seen, ye love; on whom [though] not now looking, but believing, ye exult with joy unspeakable and filled with [the] glory,
1st-Peter 1:9For so you have the true end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.while you are securing as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.receiving the end of your faith, [the] salvation of [your] souls.
1st-Peter 1:10For the prophets who gave the news of the grace which would come to you, made search with all care for knowledge of this salvation;There were Prophets who earnestly inquired about that salvation, and closely searched into it even those who spoke beforehand of the grace which was to come to you.Concerning which salvation prophets, who have prophesied of the grace towards you, sought out and searched out;
1st-Peter 1:11Attempting to see what sort of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them was pointing to, when it gave witness to the pains which Christ would undergo and the glories which would come after them.They were eager to know the time which the Spirit of Christ within them kept indicating, or the characteristics of that time, when they solemnly made known beforehand the sufferings that were to come upon Christ and the glories which would follow.searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ which [was] in them pointed out, testifying before of the sufferings which [belonged] to Christ, and the glories after these.
1st-Peter 1:12And it was made clear to those prophets that they were God's servants not for themselves but for you, to give you word of the things which have now come to your ears from the preachers of the good news through the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven; things which even angels have a desire to see.To them it was revealed that they were serving not themselves but you, when they foretold the very things which have now been openly declared to you by those who, having been taught by the Holy Spirit which had been sent from Heaven, brought you the Good News. Angels long to stoop and look into these things.To whom it was revealed, that not to themselves but to you they ministered those things, which have now been announced to you by those who have declared to you the glad tidings by [the] Holy Spirit, sent from heaven, which angels desire to look into.
1st-Peter 1:13So make your minds ready, and keep on the watch, hoping with all your power for the grace which is to come to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;Therefore gird up your minds and fix your hopes calmly and unfalteringly upon the boon that is soon to be yours, at the re-appearing of Jesus Christ.Wherefore, having girded up the loins of your mind, [be] sober [and] hope with perfect stedfastness in the grace [which will be] brought to you at [the] revelation of Jesus Christ;
1st-Peter 1:14Like children ruled by God, do not go back to the old desires of the time when you were without knowledge:And, since you delight in obedience, do not shape your lives by the cravings which used to dominate you in the time of your ignorance,as children of obedience, not conformed to [your] former lusts in your ignorance;
1st-Peter 1:15But be holy in every detail of your lives, as he, whose servants you are, is holy;but in imitation of the holy One who has called you you also must be holy in all your habits of life.but as he who has called you is holy, be ye also holy in all [your] conversation;
1st-Peter 1:16Because it has been said in the Writings, You are to be holy, for I am holy.Because it stands written, "You are to be holy, because I am holy."because it is written, Be ye holy, for *I* am holy.
1st-Peter 1:17And if you give the name of Father to him who, judging every man by his acts, has no respect for a man's position, then go in fear while you are on this earth:And if you address as your Father Him who judges impartially in accordance with each man's actions, then spend in fear the time of your stay here on earth,And if ye invoke as Father him who, without regard of persons, judges according to the work of each, pass your time of sojourn in fear,
1st-Peter 1:18Being conscious that you have been made free from that foolish way of life which was your heritage from your fathers, not through a payment of things like silver or gold which come to destruction,knowing, as you do, that it was not with a ransom of perishable wealth, such as silver or gold, that you were set free from your frivolous habits of life which had been handed down to you from your forefathers,knowing that ye have been redeemed, not by corruptible [things, as] silver or gold, from your vain conversation handed down from [your] fathers,
1st-Peter 1:19But through holy blood, like that of a clean and unmarked lamb, even the blood of Christ:but with the precious blood of Christ as of an unblemished and spotless lamb.but by precious blood, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, [the blood] of Christ,
1st-Peter 1:20Who was marked out by God before the making of the world, but was caused to be seen in these last times for you,He was pre-destined indeed to this work, even before the creation of the world, but has been plainly manifested in these last days for the sake of you who, through Him,foreknown indeed before [the] foundation of [the] world, but who has been manifested at the end of times for your sakes,
1st-Peter 1:21Who through him have faith in God who took him up again from the dead into glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God.are faithful to God, who raised Him from among the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are resting upon God.who by him do believe on God, who has raised him from among [the] dead and given him glory, that your faith and hope should be in God.
1st-Peter 1:22And as you have made your souls clean, being ruled by what is true, and loving one another without deceit, see that your love is warm and from the heart:Now that, through your obedience to the truth, you have purified your souls for cherishing sincere brotherly love, you must love another heartily and fervently.Having purified your souls by obedience to the truth to unfeigned brotherly love, love one another out of a pure heart fervently;
1st-Peter 1:23Because you have had a new birth, not from the seed of man, but from eternal seed, through the word of a living and unchanging God.For you have been begotten again by God's ever-living and enduring word from a germ not of perishable, but of imperishable life.being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by [the] living and abiding word of God.
1st-Peter 1:24For it is said, All flesh is like grass, and all its glory like the flower of the grass. The grass becomes dry and the flower dead:"All mankind resemble the herbage, and all their beauty is like its flowers. The herbage dries up, and its flowers drop off;Because all flesh [is] as grass, and all its glory as [the] flower of grass. The grass has withered and [its] flower has fallen;
1st-Peter 1:25But the word of the Lord is eternal. And this is the word of the good news which was given to you.But the word of the Lord remains for ever." And that means the Message which has been proclaimed among you in the Good News.but the word of [the] Lord abides for eternity. But this is the word which in the glad tidings [is] preached to you.
