Genesis 21:1And the Lord came to Sarah as he had said and did to her as he had undertaken. And Jehovah visited Sarah as he had said, and Jehovah did to Sarah as he had spoken.
Genesis 21:2And Sarah became with child, and gave Abraham a son when he was old, at the time named by God.And Sarah conceived, and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the appointed time of which God had spoken to him.
Genesis 21:3And Abraham gave to his son, to whom Sarah had given birth, the name Isaac. And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac.
Genesis 21:4And when his son Isaac was eight days old, Abraham made him undergo circumcision, as God had said to him.And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac, being eight days old, as God had commanded him.
Genesis 21:5Now Abraham was a hundred years old when the birth of Isaac took place. And Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.
Genesis 21:6And Sarah said, God has given me cause for laughing, and everyone who has news of it will be laughing with me.And Sarah said, God has made me laugh: all that hear will laugh with me.
Genesis 21:7And she said, Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would have a child at her breast? for see, I have given him a son now when he is old.And she said, Who would have said to Abraham, Sarah will suckle children? For I have borne [him] a son in his old age.
Genesis 21:8And when the child was old enough to be taken from the breast, Abraham made a great feast. And the child grew, and was weaned. And Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.
Genesis 21:9And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian playing with Isaac. And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking.
Genesis 21:10So she said to Abraham, Send away that woman and her son: for the son of that woman is not to have a part in the heritage with my son Isaac. And she said to Abraham, Cast out this handmaid and her son; for the son of this handmaid shall not inherit with my son with Isaac.
Genesis 21:11And this was a great grief to Abraham because of his son.And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son.
Genesis 21:12But God said, Let it not be a grief to you because of the boy and Hagar his mother; give ear to whatever Sarah says to you, because it is from Isaac that your seed will take its name. And God said to Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad and because of thy handmaid: [in] all that Sarah hath said to thee hearken to her voice, for in Isaac shall a seed be called to thee.
Genesis 21:13And I will make a nation of the son of your servant-woman, because he is your seed. But also the son of the handmaid will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.
Genesis 21:14And early in the morning Abraham got up, and gave Hagar some bread and a water-skin, and put the boy on her back, and sent her away: and she went, wandering in the waste land of Beer-sheba.And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a flask of water, and gave [it] to Hagar, putting [it] on her shoulder and the child, and sent her away. And she departed, and wandered about in the wilderness of Beer-sheba.
Genesis 21:15And when all the water in the skin was used up, she put the child down under a tree. And the water was exhausted from the flask; and she cast the child under one of the shrubs,
Genesis 21:16And she went some distance away, about an arrow flight, and seating herself on the earth, she gave way to bitter weeping, saying, Let me not see the death of my child.and she went and sat down over against [him], a bow-shot off; for she said, Let me not behold the death of the child. And she sat over against [him], and lifted up her voice and wept.
Genesis 21:17And the boy's cry came to the ears of God; and the angel of God said to Hagar from heaven, Hagar, why are you weeping? have no fear, for the child's cry has come to the ears of God.And God heard the voice of the lad. And the Angel of God called to Hagar from the heavens, and said to her, What [aileth] thee, Hagar? Fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad there, where he is.
Genesis 21:18Come, take your child in your arms, for I will make of him a great nation.Arise, take the lad, and hold him in thy hand; for I will make of him a great nation.
Genesis 21:19Then God made her eyes open, and she saw a water-spring, and she got water in the skin and gave the boy a drink. And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went and filled the flask with water, and gave the lad drink.
Genesis 21:20And God was with the boy, and he became tall and strong, and he became a bowman, living in the waste land. And God was with the lad, and he grew; and he dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer.
Genesis 21:21And while he was in the waste land of Paran, his mother got him a wife from the land of Egypt. And he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran. And his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt.
Genesis 21:22Now at that time, Abimelech and Phicol, the captain of his army, said to Abraham, I see that God is with you in all you do.And it came to pass at that time that Abimelech, and Phichol the captain of his host, spoke to Abraham, saying, God is with thee in all that thou doest.
Genesis 21:23Now, then, give me your oath, in the name of God, that you will not be false to me or to my sons after me, but that as I have been good to you, so you will be to me and to this land where you have been living. And now swear to me here by God that thou wilt not deal deceitfully with me, nor with my son, nor with my grandson. According to the kindness that I have done to thee, thou shalt do to me, and to the land in which thou sojournest.
Genesis 21:24And Abraham said, I will give you my oath. And Abraham said, I will swear.
Genesis 21:25But Abraham made a protest to Abimelech because of a water-hole which Abimelech's servants had taken by force. And Abraham reproved Abimelech because of a well of water that Abimelech's servants had violently taken away.
Genesis 21:26But Abimelech said, I have no idea who has done this thing; you never gave me word of it, and I had no knowledge of it till this day.And Abimelech said, I do not know who has done this, neither hast thou told me [of it], neither have I heard [of it] but to-day.
Genesis 21:27And Abraham took sheep and oxen and gave them to Abimelech, and the two of them made an agreement together. And Abraham took sheep and oxen, and gave them to Abimelech; and both of them made a covenant.
Genesis 21:28And Abraham put seven young lambs of the flock on one side by themselves. And Abraham set seven ewe-lambs of the flock by themselves.
Genesis 21:29Then Abimelech said, What are these seven lambs which you have put on one side? And Abimelech said to Abraham, What [mean] these seven ewe-lambs, these which thou hast set by themselves?
Genesis 21:30And he said, Take these seven lambs from me as a witness that I have made this water-hole.And he said, That thou take the seven ewe-lambs of my hand, that they may be a witness to me that I have dug this well.
Genesis 21:31So he gave that place the name Beer-sheba, because there the two of them had given their oaths. Therefore he called that place Beer-sheba, because there they had sworn, both of them.
Genesis 21:32So they made an agreement at Beer-sheba, and Abimelech and Phicol, the captain of his army, went back to the land of the Philistines. And they made a covenant at Beer-sheba. And Abimelech rose up, and Phichol the captain of his host, and returned into the land of the Philistines.
Genesis 21:33And Abraham, after planting a holy tree in Beer-sheba, gave worship to the name of the Lord, the Eternal God.And [Abraham] planted a tamarisk in Beer-sheba, and called there on the name of Jehovah, the Eternal ùGod.
Genesis 21:34And Abraham went on living in the land of the Philistines as in a strange country. And Abraham sojourned in the Philistines' land many days.
