John 2:1On the third day two people were going to be married at Cana in Galilee. The mother of Jesus was there:Two days later there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there,And on the third day a marriage took place in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.
John 2:2And Jesus with his disciples came as guests.and Jesus also was invited and His disciples. And Jesus also, and his disciples, were invited to the marriage.
John 2:3When they had not enough wine, the mother of Jesus said to him, They have no wine. Now the wine ran short; whereupon the mother of Jesus said to Him, "They have no wine."And wine being deficient, the mother of Jesus says to him, They have no wine.
John 2:4Jesus said to her, Woman, this is not your business; my time is still to come."Leave the matter in my hands," He replied; "the time for me to act has not yet come."Jesus says to her, What have I to do with thee, woman? mine hour has not yet come.
John 2:5His mother said to the servants, Whatever he says to you, do it.His mother said to the attendants, "Whatever he tells you to do, do it."His mother says to the servants, Whatever he may say to you, do.
John 2:6Now six pots of stone, every one taking two or three firkins of water, were placed there for the purpose of washing, as is the way of the Jews. Now there were six stone jars standing there (in accordance with the Jewish regulations for purification), each large enough to hold twenty gallons or more. Now there were standing there six stone water-vessels, according to the purification of the Jews, holding two or three measures each.
John 2:7Jesus said to the servants, Make the pots full of water. And they made them full to the top.Jesus said to the attendants, "Fill the jars with water." And they filled them to the brim.Jesus says to them, Fill the water-vessels with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
John 2:8Then he said to them, Now take some, and give it to the master of the feast. So they took it to him. Then He said, "Now, take some out, and carry it to the President of the feast."And he says to them, Draw out now, and carry [it] to the feast-master. And they carried [it].
John 2:9After tasting the water which had now become wine, the master of the feast (having no idea where it came from, though it was clear to the servants who took the water out) sent for the newly-married man,So they carried some to him. And no sooner had the President tasted the water now turned into wine, than not knowing where it came from, though the attendants who had drawn the water knew he called to the bridegroomBut when the feast-master had tasted the water which had been made wine (and knew not whence it was, but the servants knew who drew the water), the feast-master calls the bridegroom,
John 2:10And said to him, Every man first puts out his best wine and when all have had enough he puts out what is not so good; but you have kept the good wine till now.and said to him, "It is usual to put on the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then that which is inferior. But you have kept the good wine till now."and says to him, Every man sets on first the good wine, and when [men] have well drunk, then the inferior; thou hast kept the good wine till now.
John 2:11This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee and let his glory be seen openly; and his disciples put their faith in him. This, the first of His miracles, Jesus performed at Cana in Galilee, and thus displayed His glorious power; and His disciples believed in Him.This beginning of signs did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
John 2:12After this he went down to Capernaum, with his mother, his brothers, and his disciples, and they were there not more than two or three days.Afterwards He went down to Capernaum He, and His mother, and His brothers, and His disciples; and they made a short stay there. After this he descended to Capernaum, he and his mother and his brethren and his disciples; and there they abode not many days.
John 2:13The time of the Passover of the Jews was near and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. But the Jewish Passover was approaching, and for this Jesus went up to Jerusalem. And the passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
John 2:14And there in the Temple he saw men trading in oxen and sheep and doves, and he saw the changers of money in their seats:And He found in the Temple the dealers in cattle and sheep and in pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there.And he found in the temple the sellers of oxen and sheep and doves, and the money-changers sitting;
John 2:15And he made a whip of small cords and put them all out of the Temple, with the sheep and the oxen, sending in all directions the small money of the changers and overturning their tables; So He plaited a whip of rushes, and drove all both sheep and bullocks out of the Temple. The small coin of the brokers He upset on the ground and overturned their tables.and, having made a scourge of cords, he cast [them] all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the change of the money-changers, and overturned the tables,
John 2:16And to those who were trading in doves he said, Take these things away; do not make my Father's house a market. And to the pigeon-dealers He said, "Take these things away. Do not turn my Father's house into a market."and said to the sellers of doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house a house of merchandise.
John 2:17And it came to the minds of the disciples that the Writings say, I am on fire with passion for your house. This recalled to His disciples the words of Scripture, "My zeal for Thy House will consume me."[And] his disciples remembered that it is written, The zeal of thy house devours me.
John 2:18Then the Jews put this question to him: What sign of authority have you to give us, seeing that you do these things? So the Jews asked Him, "What proof of your authority do you exhibit to us, seeing that you do these things?"The Jews therefore answered and said to him, What sign shewest thou to us, that thou doest these things?
John 2:19And Jesus said to them, Send destruction on this Temple and I will put it up again in three days."Demolish this Sanctuary," said Jesus, "and in three days I will rebuild it."Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
John 2:20The Jews said, The building of this Temple took forty-six years; and you will put it up in three days!"It has taken forty-six years," replied the Jews, "to build this Sanctuary, and will you rebuild it in three days?"The Jews therefore said, Forty and six years was this temple building, and thou wilt raise it up in three days?
John 2:21But his words were about that holy building which was his body. But He was speaking of the Sanctuary of His body. But *he* spoke of the temple of his body.
John 2:22So when he had come back again from the dead, the memory of these words came back to the disciples, and they had faith in the holy Writings and in the word which Jesus had said. When however He had risen from among the dead, His disciples recollected that He had said this; and they believed the Scripture and the teaching which Jesus had given them. When therefore he was raised from among [the] dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and believed the scripture and the word which Jesus had spoken.
John 2:23Now while he was in Jerusalem at the feast of the Passover, a great number of people came to have faith in his name, after seeing the signs which he did.Now when He was in Jerusalem, at the Festival of the Passover, many became believers in Him through watching the miracles He performed. And when he was in Jerusalem, at the passover, at the feast, many believed on his name, beholding his signs which he wrought.
John 2:24But Jesus did not have faith in them, because he had knowledge of them all.But for His part, Jesus did not trust Himself to them, because He knew them all,But Jesus himself did not trust himself to them, because he knew all [men],
John 2:25He had no need for any witness about man; for he himself had knowledge of what was in man.and did not need any one's testimony concerning a man, for He of Himself knew what was in the man.and that he had not need that any should testify of man, for himself knew what was in man.
