Matthew 7:1 | Be not judges of others, and you will not be judged. | "Judge not, that you may not be judged; | Judge not, that ye may not be judged; |
Matthew 7:2 | For as you have been judging, so you will be judged, and with your measure will it be measured to you. | for your own judgement will be dealt and your own measure meted to yourselves. | for with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you. |
Matthew 7:3 | And why do you take note of the grain of dust in your brother's eye, but take no note of the bit of wood which is in your eye? | And why do you look at the splinter in your brother's eye, and not notice the beam which is in your own eye? | But why lookest thou on the mote that is in the eye of thy brother, but observest not the beam that is in thine eye? |
Matthew 7:4 | Or how will you say to your brother, Let me take out the grain of dust from your eye, when you yourself have a bit of wood in your eye? | Or how say to your brother, `Allow me to take the splinter out of your eye,' while the beam is in your own eye? | Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Allow [me], I will cast out the mote from thine eye; and behold, the beam is in thine eye? |
Matthew 7:5 | You false one, first take out the bit of wood from your eye, then will you see clearly to take out the grain of dust from your brother's eye. | Hypocrite, first take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly how to remove the splinter from your brother's eye. | Hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine eye, and then thou wilt see clearly to cast out the mote out of the eye of thy brother. |
Matthew 7:6 | Do not give that which is holy to the dogs, or put your jewels before pigs, for fear that they will be crushed under foot by the pigs whose attack will then be made against you. | "Give not that which is holy to the dogs, nor throw your pearls to the swine; otherwise they will trample them under their feet and then turn and attack you. | Give not that which is holy to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before the swine, lest they trample them with their feet, and turning round rend you. |
Matthew 7:7 | Make a request, and it will be answered; what you are searching for you will get; give the sign, and the door will be open to you: | "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. | Ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and ye shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you. |
Matthew 7:8 | Because to everyone who makes a request, it will be given; and he who is searching will get his desire, and to him who gives the sign, the door will be open. | For it is always he who asks that receives, he who seeks that finds, and he who knocks that has the door opened to him. | For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened. |
Matthew 7:9 | Or which of you, if his son makes a request for bread, will give him a stone? | What man is there among you, who if his son shall ask him for bread will offer him a stone? | Or what man is there of you who, if his son shall ask of him a loaf of bread, will give him a stone; |
Matthew 7:10 | Or if he makes a request for a fish, will give him a snake? | Or if the son shall ask him for a fish will offer him a snake? | and if he ask a fish, will give him a serpent? |
Matthew 7:11 | If you, then, being evil, are able to give good things to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who make requests to him? | If you then, imperfect as you are, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give good things to those who ask Him! | If therefore *ye*, being wicked, know [how] to give good gifts to your children, how much rather shall your Father who is in the heavens give good things to them that ask of him? |
Matthew 7:12 | All those things, then, which you would have men do to you, even so do you to them: because this is the law and the prophets. | Everything, therefore, be it what it may, that you would have men do to you, do you also the same to them; for in this the Law and the Prophets are summed up. | Therefore all things whatever ye desire that men should do to you, thus do *ye* also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets. |
Matthew 7:13 | Go in by the narrow door; for wide is the door and open is the way which goes to destruction, and great numbers go in by it. | "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad the road which leads to ruin, and many there are who enter by it; | Enter in through the narrow gate, for wide the gate and broad the way that leads to destruction, and many are they who enter in through it. |
Matthew 7:14 | For narrow is the door and hard the road to life, and only a small number make discovery of it. | because narrow is the gate and contracted the road which leads to Life, and few are those who find it. | For narrow the gate and straitened the way that leads to life, and they are few who find it. |
Matthew 7:15 | Be on the watch for false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inside they are cruel wolves. | "Beware of the false teachers men who come to you in sheep's fleeces, but beneath that disguise they are ravenous wolves. | But beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but within are ravening wolves. |
Matthew 7:16 | By their fruits you will get knowledge of them. Do men get grapes from thorns or figs from thistles? | By their fruits you will easily recognize them. Are grapes gathered from thorns or figs from brambles? | By their fruits ye shall know them. Do [men] gather a bunch of grapes from thorns, or from thistles figs? |
Matthew 7:17 | Even so, every good tree gives good fruit; but the bad tree gives evil fruit. | Just so every good tree produces good fruit, but a poisonous tree produces bad fruit. | So every good tree produces good fruits, but the worthless tree produces bad fruits. |
Matthew 7:18 | It is not possible for a good tree to give bad fruit, and a bad tree will not give good fruit. | A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor a poisonous tree good fruit. | A good tree cannot produce bad fruits, nor a worthless tree produce good fruits. |
Matthew 7:19 | Every tree which does not give good fruit is cut down and put in the fire. | Every tree which does not yield good fruit is cut down and thrown aside for burning. | Every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire. |
Matthew 7:20 | So by their fruits you will get knowledge of them. | So by their fruits at any rate, you will easily recognize them. | By their fruits then surely ye shall know them. |
Matthew 7:21 | Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will go into the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the pleasure of my Father in heaven. | "Not every one who says to me, `Master, Master,' will enter the Kingdom of the Heavens, but only those who are obedient to my Father who is in Heaven. | Not every one who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but he that does the will of my Father who is in the heavens. |
Matthew 7:22 | A great number will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, were we not prophets in your name, and did we not by your name send out evil spirits, and by your name do works of power? | Many will say to me on that day, "`Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Thy name, and in Thy name expelled demons, and in Thy name performed many mighty works?' | Many shall say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied through *thy* name, and through *thy* name cast out demons, and through *thy* name done many works of power? |
Matthew 7:23 | And then will I say to them, I never had knowledge of you: go from me, you workers of evil. | "And then I will tell them plainly, "`I never knew you: begone from me, you doers of wickedness.' | and then will I avow unto them, I never knew you. Depart from me, workers of lawlessness. |
Matthew 7:24 | Everyone, then, to whom my words come and who does them, will be like a wise man who made his house on a rock; | "Every one who hears these my teachings and acts upon them will be found to resemble a wise man who builds his house upon rock; | Whoever therefore hears these my words and does them, I will liken him to a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock; |
Matthew 7:25 | And the rain came down and there was a rush of waters and the winds were driving against that house, but it was not moved; because it was based on the rock. | and the heavy rain falls, the swollen torrents come, and the winds blow and beat against the house; yet it does not fall, for its foundation is on rock. | and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and fell upon that house, and it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock. |
Matthew 7:26 | And everyone to whom my words come and who does them not, will be like a foolish man who made his house on sand; | And every one who hears these my teachings and does not act upon them will be found to resemble a fool who builds his house upon sand. | And every one who hears these my words and does not do them, he shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand; |
Matthew 7:27 | And the rain came down and there was a rush of waters and the winds were driving against that house; and it came down and great was its fall. | The heavy rain descends, the swollen torrents come, and the winds blow and burst upon the house, and it falls; and disastrous is the fall." | and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell, and its fall was great. |
Matthew 7:28 | And it came about, when Jesus had come to the end of these words, that the people were surprised at his teaching, | When Jesus had concluded this discourse, the crowds were filled with amazement at His teaching, | And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his doctrine, |
Matthew 7:29 | for he was teaching as one having authority, and not as their scribes. | for He had been teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their Scribes taught. | for he taught them as having authority, and not as their scribes. |
