Matthew 25:1Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins, the friends of the bride, who took their lights, and went out with the purpose of meeting the husband."Then will the Kingdom of the Heavens be found to be like ten bridesmaids who took their torches and went out to meet the bridegroom. Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Matthew 25:2And five of them were foolish, and five were wise.Five of them were foolish and five were wise. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
Matthew 25:3For the foolish, when they took their lights, took no oil with them. For the foolish, when they took their torches, did not provide themselves with oil; They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
Matthew 25:4But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lights.but the wise, besides their torches, took oil in their flasks. But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
Matthew 25:5Now the husband was a long time in coming, and they all went to sleep. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, so that meanwhile they all became drowsy and fell asleep. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
Matthew 25:6But in the middle of the night there is a cry, The husband comes! Go out to him.But at midnight there is a loud cry, "`The bridegroom! Go out and meet him!'And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Matthew 25:7Then all those virgins got up, and made ready their lights."Then all those bridesmaids roused themselves and trimmed their torches. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
Matthew 25:8And the foolish said to the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lights are going out."`Give us some of your oil,' said the foolish ones to the wise, `for our torches are going out.'And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
Matthew 25:9But the wise made answer, saying, There may not be enough for us and you; it would be better for you to go to the traders and get oil for yourselves."`But perhaps,' replied the wise, `there will not be enough for all of us. Go to the shops rather, and buy some for yourselves.'But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
Matthew 25:10And while they went to get oil, the master came; and those who were ready went in with him to the feast: and the door was shut."So they went to buy. But meanwhile the bridegroom came; those bridesmaids who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet; and the door was shut. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Matthew 25:11After that the other virgins came, saying, Lord, Lord, let us in."Afterwards the other bridesmaids came and cried, "`Sir, Sir, open the door to us.'Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
Matthew 25:12But he made answer and said, Truly I say to you, I have no knowledge of you."`In solemn truth I tell you,' he replied, `I do not know you.'But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Matthew 25:13Keep watch, then, because you are not certain of the day or of the hour."Keep awake therefore; for you know neither the day nor the hour.Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
Matthew 25:14For it is as when a man, about to take a journey, got his servants together, and gave them his property."Why, it is like a man who, when going on his travels, called his bondservants and entrusted his property to their care. For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
Matthew 25:15And to one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to everyone as he was able; and he went on his journey. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one to each according to his individual capacity; and then started from home. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
Matthew 25:16Straight away he who had been given the five talents went and did trade with them, and made five more.Without delay the one who had received the five talents went and employed them in business, and gained five more. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
Matthew 25:17In the same way he who had been given the two got two more.In the same way he who had the two gained two more. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
Matthew 25:18But he who was given the one went away and put it in a hole in the earth, and kept his lord's money in a secret place. But the man who had received the one went and dug a hole and buried his master's money. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.
Matthew 25:19Now after a long time the lord of those servants comes, and makes up his account with them."After a long lapse of time the master of those servants returned, and had a reckoning with them. After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
Matthew 25:20And he who had the five talents came with his other five talents, saying, Lord, you gave into my care five talents: see, I have got five more. The one who had received the five talents came and brought five more, and said, "`Sir, it was five talents that you entrusted to me: see, I have gained five more.'And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
Matthew 25:21His lord said to him, Well done, good and true servant: you have been true in a small thing, I will give you control over great things: take your part in the joy of your lord."`You have done well, good and trustworthy servant,' replied his master; `you have been trustworthy in the management of a little, I will put you in charge of much: share your master's joy.'His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matthew 25:22And he who had the two talents came and said, Lord, you gave into my care two talents: see, I have got two more."The second, who had received the two talents, came and said, "`Sir, it was two talents you entrusted to me: see, I have gained two more.'He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
Matthew 25:23His lord said to him, Well done, good and true servant: you have been true in a small thing, I will give you control over great things: take your part in the joy of your lord."`Good and trustworthy servant, you have done well,' his master replied; `you have been trustworthy in the management of a little, I will put you in charge of much: share your master's joy.'His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matthew 25:24And he who had had the one talent came and said, Lord, I had knowledge that you are a hard man, getting in grain where you have not put seed, and making profits for which you have done no work:"But, next, the man who had the one talent in his keeping came and said, "`Sir, I knew you to be a severe man, reaping where you had not sown and garnering what you had not winnowed. Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
Matthew 25:25And I was in fear, and went away, and put your talent in the earth: here is what is yours. So being afraid I went and buried your talent in the ground: there you have what belongs to you.'And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
Matthew 25:26But his lord in answer said to him, You are a bad and unready servant; if you had knowledge that I get in grain where I did not put seed, and make profits for which I have done no work,"`You wicked and slothful servant,' replied his master, `did you know that I reap where I have not sown, and garner what I have not winnowed? His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
Matthew 25:27Why, then, did you not put my money in the bank, and at my coming I would have got back what is mine with interest?Your duty then was to deposit my money in some bank, and so when I came I should have got back my property with interest.Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
Matthew 25:28Take away, then, his talent and give it to him who has the ten talents. So take away the talent from him, and give it to the man who has the ten.'Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
Matthew 25:29For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have more: but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away.(For to every one who has, more shall be given, and he shall have abundance; but from him who has nothing, even what he has shall be taken away.)For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
Matthew 25:30And put out the servant who is of no profit into the outer dark: there will be weeping and cries of sorrow.`But as for this worthless servant, put him out into the darkness outside: *there* will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.'And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 25:31But when the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then will he be seated in his glory:"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then will He sit upon His glorious throne,When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
Matthew 25:32And before him all the nations will come together; and they will be parted one from another, as the sheep are parted from the goats by the keeper.and all the nations will be gathered into His presence. And He will separate them from one another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
Matthew 25:33And he will put the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left.and will make the sheep stand at His right hand, and the goats at His left. And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Matthew 25:34Then will the King say to those on his right, Come, you who have the blessing of my Father, into the kingdom made ready for you before the world was:"Then the King will say to those at His right, "`Come, my Father's blessed ones, receive your inheritance of the Kingdom which has been divinely intended for you ever since the creation of the world. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Matthew 25:35For I was in need of food, and you gave it to me: I was in need of drink, and you gave it to me: I was wandering, and you took me in;For when I was hungry, you gave me food; when I was thirsty, you gave me drink; when I was homeless, you gave me a welcome; For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Matthew 25:36I had no clothing, and you gave it to me: when I was ill, or in prison, you came to me.when I was ill-clad, you clothed me; when I was sick, you visited me; when I was in prison, you came to see me.'Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Matthew 25:37Then will the upright make answer to him, saying, Lord, when did we see you in need of food, and give it to you? or in need of drink, and give it to you?"`When, Lord,' the righteous will reply, `did we see Thee hungry, and feed Thee; or thirsty, and give Thee drink? Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
Matthew 25:38And when did we see you wandering, and take you in? or without clothing, and give it to you? When did we see Thee homeless, and give Thee a welcome? or ill-clad, and clothe Thee? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
Matthew 25:39And when did we see you ill, or in prison, and come to you? When did we see Thee sick or in prison, and come to see Thee?'Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
Matthew 25:40And the King will make answer and say to them, Truly I say to you, Because you did it to the least of these my brothers, you did it to me."But the King will answer them, "`In solemn truth I tell you that in so far as you rendered such services to one of the humblest of these my brethren, you rendered them to myself.'And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Matthew 25:41Then will he say to those on the left, Go from me, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire which is ready for the Evil One and his angels:"Then will He say to those at His left, "`Begone from me, with the curse resting upon you, into the Fire of the Ages, which has been prepared for the Devil and his angels. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Matthew 25:42For I was in need of food, and you gave it not to me; I was in need of drink, and you gave it not to me:For when I was hungry, you gave me nothing to eat; when thirsty, you gave me nothing to drink; For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
Matthew 25:43I was wandering, and you took me not in; without clothing, and you gave me no clothing; ill, and in prison, and you came not to me.when homeless, you gave me no welcome; ill-clad, you clothed me not; sick or in prison, you visited me not.'I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
Matthew 25:44Then will they make answer, saying, Lord, when did we see you in need of food or drink, or wandering, or without clothing, or ill, or in prison, and did not take care of you?"Then will they also answer, "`Lord, when did we see Thee hungry or thirsty or homeless or ill-clad or sick or in prison, and not come to serve Thee?'Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
Matthew 25:45Then will he make answer to them, saying, Truly I say to you, Because you did it not to the least of these, you did it not to me."But he will reply, "`In solemn truth I tell you that in so far as you withheld such services from one of the humblest of these, you withheld them from me.'Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
Matthew 25:46And these will go away into eternal punishment; but the upright into eternal life."And these shall go away into the Punishment of the Ages, but the righteous into the Life of the Ages."And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
