| Genesis 23:1 | Now the years of Sarah's life were a hundred and twenty-seven. | | Sarah lived one hundred twenty-seven years. These were the years of Sarah's life. |
| Genesis 23:2 | And Sarah's death took place in Kiriath-arba, that is, Hebron, in the land of Canaan: and Abraham went into his house, weeping and sorrowing for Sarah. | | Sarah died in Kiriath-arba (the same is Hebron), in the land of Canaan. Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her. |

| Genesis 23:4 | I am living among you as one from a strange country: give me some land here as my property, so that I may put my dead to rest. | | "I am a stranger and a sojourner with you. Give me a possession of a burying-place with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight." |

I will give the price of the field. Take it from me, and I will bury my dead there." |
