Mark 8:1In those days again, when there was a great mass of people and they had no food, he made his disciples come to him and said to them,About that time there was again an immense crowd, and they found themselves with nothing to eat. So He called His disciples to Him.In those days the multitude being very great, and not having what they may eat, Jesus having called near his disciples, saith to them,
Mark 8:2I have pity for these people because they have been with me now three days, and have no food;"My heart yearns over the people," He said; "for this is now the third day they have remained with me, and they have nothing to eat.`I have compassion upon the multitude, because now three days they do continue with me, and they have not what they may eat;
Mark 8:3If I send them away to their houses with no food, they will be overcome by weariness on the way; and some of them have come from far.If I were to send them home hungry, they would faint on the way, some of them having come a great distance."and if I shall let them away fasting to their home, they will faint in the way, for certain of them are come from far.`
Mark 8:4And his disciples said in answer, How will it be possible to get enough bread for these men here in a waste place?"Where can we possibly get bread here in this remote place to satisfy such a crowd?" answered His disciples.And his disciples answered him, `Whence shall any one be able these here to feed with bread in a wilderness?`
Mark 8:5And he put the question, How much bread have you? And they said, Seven cakes."How many loaves have you?" He asked. "Seven," they said.And he was questioning them, `How many loaves have ye?` and they said, `Seven.`
Mark 8:6And he made the people be seated on the earth: and he took the seven cakes and, having given praise, he gave the broken bread to his disciples to put before them; and they put it before the people.So He passed the word to the people to sit down on the ground. Then taking the seven loaves He blessed them, and broke them into portions and proceeded to give them to His disciples for them to distribute, and they distributed them to the people.And he commanded the multitude to sit down upon the ground, and having taken the seven loaves, having given thanks, he brake, and was giving to his disciples that they may set before [them]; and they did set before the multitude.
Mark 8:7And they had some small fishes; and blessing them he had them put before the people in the same way.They had also a few small fish. He blessed them, and He told His disciples to distribute these also.And they had a few small fishes, and having blessed, he said to set them also before [them];
Mark 8:8And they took the food, and had enough; and they took up seven baskets full of the broken bits.So the people ate an abundant meal; and what remained over they picked up and carried away seven hampers of broken pieces.and they did eat and were filled, and they took up that which was over of broken pieces seven baskets;
Mark 8:9And there were about four thousand people: and he sent them away.The number fed were about 4,000. Then He sent them away,and those eating were about four thousand. And he let them away,
Mark 8:10And he got into the boat with his disciples straight away, and came into the country of Dalmanutha.and at once going on board with His disciples He came into the district of Dalmanutha.and immediately having entered into the boat with his disciples, he came to the parts of Dalmanutha,
Mark 8:11And the Pharisees came out and put questions to him, requesting from him a sign from heaven, testing him.The Pharisees followed Him and began to dispute with Him, asking Him for a sign in the sky, to make trial of Him.and the Pharisees came forth, and began to dispute with him, seeking from him a sign from the heaven, tempting him;
Mark 8:12And he was very sad in spirit, and said, Why is this generation looking for a sign? truly, I say to you, No sign will be given to this generation.Heaving a deep and troubled sigh, He said, "Why do the men of to-day ask for a sign? In solemn truth I tell you that no sign will be given to the men of to-day."and having sighed deeply in his spirit, he saith, `Why doth this generation seek after a sign? Verily I say to you, no sign shall be given to this generation.`
Mark 8:13And he went away from them, and again got into the boat and went across to the other side.So He left them, went on board again, and came away to the other side.And having left them, having entered again into the boat, he went away to the other side;
Mark 8:14And they had taken no thought to get bread; and they had only one cake of bread with them in the boat.Now they had forgotten to take bread, nor had they more than a single loaf with them in the boat;and they forgot to take loaves, and except one loaf they had nothing with them in the boat,
Mark 8:15And he said to them, Take care to be on the watch against the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.and when He admonished them, "See to it, be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod,"and he was charging them, saying, `Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod,`
Mark 8:16And they said to one another, We have no bread.they explained His words to one another by saying, "We have no bread!"and they were reasoning with one another, saying `Because we have no loaves.`
Mark 8:17And Jesus, hearing it, said to them, Why are you reasoning among yourselves because you have no bread? do you still not see, and is it still not clear to you? are your hearts so hard?He perceived what they were saying, and He said to them, "What is this discussion of yours about having no bread? Do you not yet see and understand? Are your minds so dull of comprehension?And Jesus having known, saith to them, `Why do ye reason, because ye have no loaves? do ye not yet perceive, nor understand, yet have ye your heart hardened?
Mark 8:18Having eyes, do you not see? and having ears, have you no hearing? and have you no memory?You have eyes! can you not see? You have ears! can you not hear? and have you no memory?Having eyes, do ye not see? and having ears, do ye not hear? and do ye not remember?
Mark 8:19When I made a division of the five cakes of bread among the five thousand, what number of baskets full of broken bits did you take up? They said to him, Twelve.When I broke up the five loaves for the 5,000 men, how many baskets did you carry away full of broken portions?" "Twelve," they said.When the five loaves I did brake to the five thousand, how many hand-baskets full of broken pieces took ye up?` they say to him, `Twelve.`
Mark 8:20And when the seven among the four thousand, what number of baskets full of broken bits did you take up? And they said to him, Seven."And when the seven for the 4,000, how many hampers full of portions did you take away?" "Seven," they answered.`And when the seven to the four thousand, how many hand-baskets full of broken pieces took ye up?` and they said, `Seven.`

Mark 8:23And he took the blind man by the hand, and went with him out of the town; and when he had put water from his mouth on his eyes, and put his hands on him, he said, Do you see anything?So He took the blind man by the arm and brought him out of the village, and spitting into his eyes He put His hands on him and asked him, "Can you see anything?"and having taken the hand of the blind man, he led him forth without the village, and having spit on his eyes, having put [his] hands on him, he was questioning him if he doth behold anything:
Mark 8:24And looking up, he said, I see men; I see them like trees, walking.He looked up and said, "I can see the people: I see them like trees only walking."and he, having looked up, said, `I behold men, as I see trees, walking.`
Mark 8:25Then again he put his hands on his eyes; and looking hard, he was able to see, and saw all things clearly.Then for the second time He put His hands on the man's eyes, and the man, looking steadily, recovered his sight and saw everything distinctly.Afterwards again he put [his] hands on his eyes, and made him look up, and he was restored, and discerned all things clearly,
Mark 8:26And he sent him away to his house, saying, Do not even go into the town.So He sent him home, and added, "Do not even go into the village."and he sent him away to his house, saying, `Neither to the village mayest thou go, nor tell [it] to any in the village.`
Mark 8:27And Jesus went out, with his disciples, into the little towns round Caesarea Philippi; and on the way he put a question to his disciples, saying, Who do men say that I am?From that place Jesus and His disciples went to the villages belonging to Caesarea Philippi. On the way He began to ask His disciples, "Who do people say that I am?"And Jesus went forth, and his disciples, to the villages of Cesarea Philippi, and in the way he was questioning his disciples, saying to them, `Who do men say me to be?`
Mark 8:28And they made answer, John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but others, One of the prophets."John the Baptist," they replied, "but others say Elijah, and others, that it is one of the Prophets."And they answered, `John the Baptist, and others Elijah, but others one of the prophets.`
Mark 8:29And he said to them, But who do you say I am? Peter said in answer, You are the Christ.Then He asked them pointedly, "But you yourselves, who do you say that I am?" "You are the Christ," answered Peter.And he saith to them, `And ye who do ye say me to be?` and Peter answering saith to him, `Thou art the Christ.`
Mark 8:30And he put them under orders not to say this of him to anyone.And He strictly forbad them to tell this about Him to any one.And he strictly charged them that they may tell no one about it,
Mark 8:31And teaching them, he said that the Son of man would have to undergo much, and be hated by those in authority, and the chief priests, and the scribes, and be put to death, and after three days come back from the dead.And now for the first time He told them, "The Son of Man must endure much suffering, and be rejected by the Elders and the High Priests and the Scribes, and be put to death, and after two days rise to life."and began to teach them, that it behoveth the Son of Man to suffer many things, and to be rejected by the elders, and chief priests, and scribes, and to be killed, and after three days to rise again;
Mark 8:32And he said this openly. And Peter took him, and was protesting.This He told them plainly; whereupon Peter took Him and began to remonstrate with Him.and openly he was speaking the word. And Peter having taken him aside, began to rebuke him,
Mark 8:33But he, turning about, and seeing his disciples, said sharply to Peter, Get out of my way, Satan: for your mind is not on the things of God, but on the things of men.But turning round and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter. "Get behind me, Adversary," He said, "for your thoughts are not God's thoughts, but men's."and he, having turned, and having looked on his disciples, rebuked Peter, saying, `Get behind me, Adversary, because thou dost not mind the things of God, but the things of men.`
Mark 8:34And turning to the mass of people with his disciples, he said to them, If any man has the desire to come after me, let him give up all other desires, and take up his cross and come after me.Then calling to Him the crowd and also His disciples, He said to them, "If any one is desirous of following me, let him ignore self and take up his cross, and so be my follower.And having called near the multitude, with his disciples, he said to them, `Whoever doth will to come after me let him disown himself, and take up his cross, and follow me;
Mark 8:35Whoever has a desire to keep his life, will have it taken from him; and whoever gives up his life because of me and the good news, will keep it.For whoever is bent on securing his life will lose it, but he who loses his life for my sake, and for the sake of the Good News, will secure it.for whoever may will to save his life shall lose it; and whoever may lose his life for my sake and for the good news` sake, he shall save it;
Mark 8:36What profit has a man if he gets all the world with the loss of his life?Why, what does it benefit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?for what shall it profit a man, if he may gain the whole world, and forfeit his life?
Mark 8:37And what would a man give in exchange for his life?For what could a man give to buy back his life?Or what shall a man give as an exchange for his life?
Mark 8:38Whoever has a feeling of shame because of me and my words in this false and evil generation, the Son of man will have a feeling of shame because of him, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.Every one, however, who has been ashamed of me and of my teachings in this faithless and sinful age, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in His Father's glory with the holy angels."for whoever may be ashamed of me, and of my words, in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man also shall be ashamed of him, when he may come in the glory of his Father, with the holy messengers.`
