| 1st-Peter 5:1 | I who am myself one of the rulers of the church, and a witness of the death of Christ, having my part in the coming glory, send this serious request to the chief men among you: | I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and who will also share in the glory that will be revealed. | The ancients therefore that are among you, I beseech, who am myself also an ancient, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ: as also a partaker of that glory which is to be revealed in time to come: |
| 1st-Peter 5:2 | Keep watch over the flock of God which is in your care, using your authority, not as forced to do so, but gladly; and not for unclean profit but with a ready mind; | Tend the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion, but voluntarily, not for dishonest gain, but willingly; | Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking care of it, not by constraint, but willingly, according to God: not for filthy lucre's sake, but voluntarily: |
| 1st-Peter 5:3 | Not as lords over God's heritage, but making yourselves examples to the flock. | neither as lording it over the charge allotted to you, but making yourselves examples to the flock. | Neither as lording it over the clergy, but being made a pattern of the flock from the heart. |
| 1st-Peter 5:4 | And at the coming of the chief Keeper of the sheep, you will be given the eternal crown of glory. | When the chief Shepherd will be revealed, you will receive the crown of glory that doesn't fade away. | And when the prince of pastors shall appear, you shall receive a never fading crown of glory. |
| 1st-Peter 5:5 | And in the same way, let the younger men be ruled by the older ones. Let all of you put away pride and make yourselves ready to be servants: for God is a hater of pride, but he gives grace to those who make themselves low. | Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you gird yourselves with humility, to subject yourselves to one another; for "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." | In like manner, ye young men, be subject to the ancients.
