Matthew 15:1Then there came to Jesus from Jerusalem Pharisees and scribes, saying,Then Pharisees and scribes come to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying,Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, who were of Jerusalem, saying,
Matthew 15:2Why do your disciples go against the teaching of the fathers? for they take food with unwashed hands."Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don't wash their hands when they eat bread."Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
Matthew 15:3And in answer he said to them, Why do you, yourselves, go against the word of God on account of the teaching which has been handed down to you?He answered them, "Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?But he answered and said to them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
Matthew 15:4For God said, Give honour to your father and mother: and, He who says evil of father or mother will be put to death.For God commanded, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.'For God commanded, saying, Honor thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
Matthew 15:5But you say, If a man says to his father or his mother, That by which you might have had profit from me is given to God;But you say, 'Whoever will tell his father or his mother, "Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God,"But ye say, Whoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatever thou mightest be profited by me;
Matthew 15:6There is no need for him to give honour to his father. And you have made the word of God without effect because of your teaching.he will not honor his father or mother.' You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition.And honor not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition.
Matthew 15:7You false ones, well did Isaiah say of you,You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,Ye hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
Matthew 15:8These people give me honour with their lips, but their heart is far from me.'These people draw near to me with their mouth, And honor me with their lips; But their heart is far from me.This people draw nigh to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
Matthew 15:9But their worship is to no purpose, while they give as their teaching the rules of men.But in vain do they worship me, Teaching as doctrine rules made by men.'"But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Matthew 15:10And he got the people together and said to them, Give ear, and let my words be clear to you:He called the multitude to himself, and said to them, "Hear, and understand.And he called the multitude, and said to them, Hear, and understand:
Matthew 15:11Not that which goes into the mouth makes a man unclean, but that which comes out of the mouth.That which enters into the mouth doesn't defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man."Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
Matthew 15:12Then the disciples came and said to him, Did you see that the Pharisees were troubled when these words came to their ears?Then the disciples came, and said to him, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying?"Then came his disciples, and said to him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended after they heard this saying?
Matthew 15:13But he said in answer, Every plant which my Father in heaven has not put in the earth, will be taken up by the roots.But he answered, "Every plant which my heavenly Father didn't plant will be uprooted.But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be extirpated.
Matthew 15:14Let them be: they are blind guides. And if a blind man is guiding a blind man, the two will go falling into a hole together.Let them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit."Let them alone: they are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leadeth the blind, both will fall into the ditch.
Matthew 15:15Then Peter said to him, Make the story clear to us.Peter answered him, "Explain the parable to us."Then answered Peter and said to him, Declare to us this parable.
Matthew 15:16And he said, Are you, like them, still without wisdom?So Jesus said, "Do you also still not understand?And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
Matthew 15:17Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth goes on into the stomach, and is sent out as waste?Don't you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly, and then out of the body?Do ye not yet understand, that whatever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
Matthew 15:18But the things which come out of the mouth come from the heart; and they make a man unclean.But the things which proceed out of the mouth come forth out of the heart, and they defile the man.But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
Matthew 15:19For out of the heart come evil thoughts, the taking of life, broken faith between the married, unclean desires of the flesh, taking of property, false witness, bitter words:For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
Matthew 15:20These are the things which make a man unclean; but to take food with unwashed hands does not make a man unclean.These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands doesn't defile the man."These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
Matthew 15:21And Jesus went away from there into the country of Tyre and Sidon.Jesus went out from there, and withdrew into the parts of Tyre and Sidon.Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the territories of Tyre and Sidon.
Matthew 15:22And a woman of Canaan came out from those parts, crying and saying, Have pity on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is greatly troubled with an unclean spirit.Behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders, and cried, saying, "Have mercy on me, Lord, you son of David. My daughter is grievously vexed with a demon."And behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same territories, and cried to him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously afflicted with a demon.
Matthew 15:23But he gave her no answer. And his disciples came and said to him, Send her away, for she is crying after us.But he answered her not a word. His disciples came and begged him, saying, "Send her away; for she cries after us."But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
Matthew 15:24But he made answer and said, I was sent only to the wandering sheep of the house of Israel.But he answered, "I wasn't sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel."But he answered and said, I am not sent but to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Matthew 15:25But she came and gave him worship, saying, Help, Lord.But she came and worshipped him, saying, "Lord, help me."Then came she and worshiped him, saying, Lord, help me.
Matthew 15:26And he made answer and said, It is not right to take the children's bread and give it to the dogs.But he answered, "It is not appropriate to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs."But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
Matthew 15:27But she said, Yes, Lord: but even the dogs take the bits from under their masters' table.But she said, "Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters' table."And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crums which fall from their master's table.
Matthew 15:28Then Jesus, answering, said to her, O woman, great is your faith: let your desire be done. And her daughter was made well from that hour.Then Jesus answered her, "Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you even as you desire." And her daughter was healed from that hour.Then Jesus answered and said to her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it to thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
Matthew 15:29And Jesus went from there and came to the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and took his seat there.Jesus departed there, and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and sat there.And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh to the sea of Galilee; and ascended a mountain, and sat down there.
Matthew 15:30And there came to him great numbers of people having with them those who were broken in body, or blind, or without voice, or wounded, or ill in any way, and a number of others; they put them down at his feet and he made them well:There came to him great multitudes, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they put them down at his feet. He healed them,And great multitudes came to him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:
Matthew 15:31So that the people were full of wonder when they saw that those who had no voice were talking, the feeble were made strong, those whose bodies were broken had the power of walking, and the blind were able to see: and they gave glory to the God of Israel.so that the multitude wondered, when they saw the mute speaking, the injured whole, lame walking, and the blind seeing and they glorified the God of Israel.So that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
Matthew 15:32And Jesus got his disciples together and said, I have pity for the people, because they have now been with me three days and have no food: and I will not send them away without food, or they will have no strength for the journey.Jesus called his disciples to him, and said, "I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I don't want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way."Then Jesus called his disciples to him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
Matthew 15:33And the disciples say to him, How may we get enough bread in a waste place, to give food to such a number of people?The disciples said to him, "Where should we get so many loaves in a desert place as to fill so great a multitude?"And his disciples say to him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to satisfy so great a multitude?
Matthew 15:34And Jesus says to them, How much bread have you? And they said, Seven cakes, and some small fishes.Jesus said to them, "How many loaves do you have?" They said, "Seven, and a few small fish."And Jesus saith to them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
Matthew 15:35Then he gave an order to the people to be seated on the earth,He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground;And he commanded the multitude to sit on the ground.
Matthew 15:36And he took the seven cakes of bread and the fishes; and having given praise, he gave the broken bread to the disciples, and the disciples gave it to the people.and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and broke them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
Matthew 15:37And they all took food, and had enough; and they took up of the broken bits, seven baskets full.They all ate, and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over.And they all ate and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that were left seven baskets full.
Matthew 15:38And there were four thousand men who took food, together with women and children.Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.And they that had eaten were four thousand men, besides women and children.
Matthew 15:39And when he had sent the people away, he got into the boat, and came into the country of Magadan.He sent away the multitudes, and entered into the boat, and came into the borders of Magdala.And he sent away the multitude, and took a boat, and came into the borders of Magdala.
