Matthew 9:1And he got into a boat and went across and came to his town.He entered into a boat, and crossed over, and came into his own city.And having gone to the boat, he passed over, and came to his own city,
Matthew 9:2And they took to him a man stretched on a bed who had no power of moving; and Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the man who was ill, Son, take heart; you have forgiveness for your sins.Behold, they brought to him a man who was paralyzed, lying on a bed. Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, "Son, cheer up! Your sins are forgiven you."and lo, they were bringing to him a paralytic, laid upon a couch, and Jesus having seen their faith, said to the paralytic, `Be of good courage, child, thy sins have been forgiven thee.`
Matthew 9:3And some of the scribes said among themselves, This man has no respect for God.Behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man blasphemes."And lo, certain of the scribes said within themselves, `This one doth speak evil.`
Matthew 9:4And Jesus, having knowledge of what was in their minds, said, Why are your thoughts evil?Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?And Jesus, having known their thoughts, said, `Why think ye evil in your hearts?
Matthew 9:5For which is the simpler, to say, You have forgiveness for your sins; or to say, Get up and go?For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven;' or to say, 'Get up, and walk?'for which is easier? to say, The sins have been forgiven to thee; or to say, Rise, and walk?
Matthew 9:6But so that you may see that on earth the Son of man has authority for the forgiveness of sins, (then said he to the man who was ill,) Get up, and take up your bed, and go to your house.But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins..." (then he said to the paralytic), "Get up, and take up your mat, and go up to your house."`But, that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power upon the earth to forgive sins (then saith he to the paralytic) having risen, take up thy couch, and go to thy house.`
Matthew 9:7And he got up and went away to his house.He arose and departed to his house.And he, having risen, went to his house,
Matthew 9:8But when the people saw it they were full of fear, and gave glory to God who had given such authority to men.But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.and the multitudes having seen, wondered, and glorified God, who did give such power to men.
Matthew 9:9And when Jesus was going from there, he saw a man whose name was Matthew, seated at the place where taxes were taken; and he said to him, Come after me. And he got up and went after him.As Jesus passed by from there, he saw a man called Matthew, sitting at the tax collection office. He said to him, "Follow me." He got up and followed him.And Jesus passing by thence, saw a man sitting at the tax-office, named Matthew, and saith to him, `Be following me,` and he, having risen, did follow him.
Matthew 9:10And it came about, when he was in the house taking food, that a number of tax-farmers and sinners came and took their places with Jesus and his disciples.It happened, as he sat at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples.And it came to pass, he reclining (at meat) in the house, that lo, many tax-gatherers and sinners having come, were lying (at meat) with Jesus and his disciples,
Matthew 9:11And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, Why does your Master take food with tax-farmers and sinners?When the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with the tax collectors and sinners?"and the Pharisees having seen, said to his disciples, `Wherefore with the tax-gatherers and sinners doth your teacher eat?`
Matthew 9:12But on hearing this he said, Those who are well have no need of a medical man, but those who are ill.When Jesus heard it, he said to them, "Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.And Jesus having heard, said to them, `They who are whole have no need of a physician, but they who are ill;
Matthew 9:13But go and take to heart the sense of these words, My desire is for mercy, not offerings: for I have come not to get the upright, but sinners.But you go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,' for I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."but having gone, learn ye what is, Kindness I will, and not sacrifice, for I did not come to call righteous men, but sinners, to reformation.`
Matthew 9:14Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees frequently go without food, but your disciples do not?Then John's disciples came to him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples don't fast?"Then come to him do the disciples of John, saying, `Wherefore do we and the Pharisees fast much, and thy disciples fast not?`
Matthew 9:15And Jesus said to them, Will the friends of the newly-married man be sad as long as he is with them? But the days will come when he will be taken away from them, and then will they go without food.Jesus said to them, "Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.And Jesus said to them, `Can the sons of the bride-chamber mourn, so long as the bridegroom is with them? but days shall come when the bridegroom may be taken from them, and then they shall fast.
Matthew 9:16And no man puts a bit of new cloth on an old coat, for by pulling away from the old, it makes a worse hole.No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch would tear away from the garment, and a worse hole is made.`And no one doth put a patch of undressed cloth on an old garment, for its filling up doth take from the garment, and a worse rent is made.
Matthew 9:17And men do not put new wine into old wine-skins; or the skins will be burst and the wine will come out, and the skins are of no more use: but they put new wine into new wine-skins, and so the two will be safe.Neither do people put new wine into old wineskins, or else the skins would burst, and the wine be spilled, and the skins ruined. No, they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved."`Nor do they put new wine into old skins, and if not the skins burst, and the wine doth run out, and the skins are destroyed, but they put new wine into new skins, and both are preserved together.`
Matthew 9:18While he was saying these things to them, there came a ruler and gave him worship, saying, My daughter is even now dead; but come and put your hand on her, and she will come back to life.While he told these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshipped him, saying, "My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live."While he is speaking these things to them, lo, a ruler having come, was bowing to him, saying that `My daughter just now died, but, having come, lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.`
Matthew 9:19And Jesus got up and went after him, and so did his disciples.Jesus got up and followed him, as did his disciples.And Jesus having risen, did follow him, also his disciples,
Matthew 9:20And a woman, who for twelve years had had a flow of blood, came after him, and put her hand on the edge of his robe:Behold, a woman, who had an issue of blood for twelve years, came behind him, and touched the tassels of his garment;and lo, a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, having come to him behind, did touch the fringe of his garments,
Matthew 9:21Because, she said to herself, if I may but put my hand on his robe, I will be made well.for she said within herself, "If I just touch his garment, I will be made well."for she said within herself, `If only I may touch his garment, I shall be saved.`
Matthew 9:22But Jesus, turning and seeing her, said, Daughter, take heart; your faith has made you well. And the woman was made well from that hour.But Jesus, turning around and seeing her, said, "Daughter, cheer up! Your faith has made you well." And the woman was made well from that hour.And Jesus having turned about, and having seen her, said, `Be of good courage, daughter, thy faith hath saved thee,` and the woman was saved from that hour.
Matthew 9:23And when Jesus came into the ruler's house and saw the players with their instruments and the people making a noise,When Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the flute players, and the crowd in noisy disorder,And Jesus having come to the house of the ruler, and having seen the minstrels and the multitude making tumult,
Matthew 9:24He said, Make room; for the girl is not dead, but sleeping. And they were laughing at him.he said to them, "Make room, because the young lady isn't dead, but sleeping." They laughed him to scorn.he saith to them, `Withdraw, for the damsel did not die, but doth sleep,` and they were deriding him;
Matthew 9:25But when the people were sent out, he went in and took her by the hand; and the girl got up.But when the crowd was put out, he entered in, took her by the hand, and the young lady arose.but, when the multitude was put forth, having gone in, he took hold of her hand, and the damsel arose,
Matthew 9:26And the news of it went out into all that land.The report of this went forth into all that land.and the fame of this went forth to all the land.
Matthew 9:27And when Jesus went on from there, two blind men came after him, crying out, Have mercy on us, you Son of David.As Jesus passed by from there, two blind men followed him, calling out and saying, "Have mercy on us, son of David!"And Jesus passing on thence, two blind men followed him, calling and saying, `Deal kindly with us, Son of David.`
Matthew 9:28And when he had come into the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus said to them, Have you faith that I am able to do this? They said to him, Yes, Lord.When he had come into the house, the blind men came to him. Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They told him, "Yes, Lord."And he having come to the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus saith to them, `Believe ye that I am able to do this?` They say to him, `Yes, sir.`
Matthew 9:29Then he put his hand on their eyes, saying, As your faith is, let it be done to you.Then he touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith be it done to you."Then touched he their eyes, saying, `According to your faith let it be to you,`
Matthew 9:30And their eyes were made open. And Jesus said to them sharply, Let no man have knowledge of it.Their eyes were opened. Jesus strictly charged them, saying, "See that no one knows about this."and their eyes were opened, and Jesus strictly charged them, saying, `See, let no one know;`
Matthew 9:31But they went out and gave news of him in all that land.But they went out and spread abroad his fame in all that land.but they, having gone forth, did spread his fame in all that land.
Matthew 9:32And while they were going away, there came to him a man without the power of talking, and with an evil spirit.As they went forth, behold, there was brought to him a mute man who was demon possessed.And as they are coming forth, lo, they brought to him a man dumb, a demoniac,
Matthew 9:33And when the evil spirit had been sent out, the man had the power of talking: and they were all surprised, saying, Such a thing has never been seen in Israel.When the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke. The multitudes marveled, saying, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!"and the demon having been cast out, the dumb spake, and the multitude did wonder, saying that `It was never so seen in Israel:`
Matthew 9:34But the Pharisees said, By the ruler of evil spirits, he sends evil spirits out of men.But the Pharisees said, "By the prince of the demons, he casts out demons."but the Pharisees said, `By the ruler of the demons he doth cast out the demons.`
Matthew 9:35And Jesus went about all the towns and small places, teaching in their Synagogues and preaching the good news of the kingdom and making well all sorts of disease and pain.Jesus went about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.And Jesus was going up and down all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the reign, and healing every sickness and every malady among the people.
Matthew 9:36But when he saw all the people he was moved with pity for them, because they were troubled and wandering like sheep without a keeper.But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, as sheep without a shepherd.And having seen the multitudes, he was moved with compassion for them, that they were faint and cast aside, as sheep not having a shepherd,
Matthew 9:37Then he said to his disciples, There is much grain but not enough men to get it in.Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest indeed is plentiful, but the laborers are few.then saith he to his disciples, `The harvest indeed [is] abundant, but the workmen few;
Matthew 9:38Make prayer, then, to the Lord of the grain-fields, that he may send out workers to get in his grain.Pray therefore that the Lord of the harvest will send forth laborers into his harvest."beseech ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he may put forth workmen to His harvest.`
