Ezekiel 1:1Now it came about in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, while I was by the river Chebar among those who had been made prisoners, that the heavens were made open and I saw visions of God.And it cometh to pass, in the thirtieth year, in the fourth [month], in the fifth of the month, and I [am] in the midst of the Removed by the river Chebar, the heavens have been opened, and I see visions of God.Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth [month], in the fifth [day] of the month, as I was among the captives by the river Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.
Ezekiel 1:2On the fifth day of the month, in the fifth year after King Jehoiachin had been made a prisoner,In the fifth of the month it is the fifth year of the removal of the king JehoiachinIn the fifth [day] of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity,
Ezekiel 1:3The word of the Lord came to me, Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldaeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the Lord was on me there.hath the word of Jehovah certainly been unto Ezekiel son of Buzi the priest, in the land of the Chaldeans, by the river Chebar, and there is on him there a hand of Jehovah.the word of Jehovah came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of Jehovah was there upon him.
Ezekiel 1:4And, looking, I saw a storm-wind coming out of the north, a great cloud with flames of fire coming after one another, and a bright light shining round about it and in the heart of it was something coloured like electrum. And I look, and lo, a tempestuous wind is coming from the north, a great cloud, and fire catching itself, and brightness to it round about, and out of its midst as the colour of copper, out of the midst of the fire. And I looked, and, behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, a great cloud, with a fire infolding itself, and a brightness round about it, and out of the midst thereof as it were glowing metal, out of the midst of the fire.
Ezekiel 1:5And in the heart of it were the forms of four living beings. And this was what they were like; they had the form of a man.And out of its midst [is] a likeness of four living creatures, and this [is] their appearance; a likeness of man [is] to them,And out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man.
Ezekiel 1:6And every one had four faces, and every one of them had four wings.and four faces [are] to each, and four wings [are] to each of them,And every one had four faces, and every one of them had four wings.
Ezekiel 1:7And their feet were straight feet; and the under sides of their feet were like the feet of oxen; and they were shining like polished brass.and their feet [are] straight feet, and the sole of their feet [is] as a sole of a calf`s foot, and they are sparkling as the colour of bright brass; And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot; and they sparkled like burnished brass.
Ezekiel 1:8And they had the hands of a man under their wings; the four of them had faces on their four sides.and hands of man under their wings on their four sides, and their faces and their wings [are] to them four; And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings [thus]:
Ezekiel 1:9They went without turning, every one went straight forward.joining one unto another [are] their wings, they turn not round in their going, each straight forward they go.their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.
Ezekiel 1:10As for the form of their faces, they had the face of a man, and the four of them had the face of a lion on the right side, and the four of them had the face of an ox on the left side, and the four of them had the face of an eagle. As to the likeness of their faces, the face of a man, and the face of a lion, toward the right [are] to them four, and the face of an ox on the left [are] to them four, and the face of an eagle [are] to them four.As for the likeness of their faces, they had the face of a man; and they four had the face of a lion on the right side; and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four had also the face of an eagle.
Ezekiel 1:11And their wings were separate at the top; two of the wings of every one were joined one to another, and two were covering their bodies. And their faces and their wings are separate from above, to each [are] two joining together, and two are covering their bodies. And their faces and their wings were separate above; two [wings] of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.
Ezekiel 1:12Every one of them went straight forward; wherever the spirit was to go they went; they went on without turning. And each straight forward they go, whither the spirit is to go, they go, they turn not round in their going. And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; they turned not when they went.
Ezekiel 1:13And between the living beings it was like burning coals of fire, as if flames were going one after the other between the living beings; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went thunder-flames.As to the likeness of the living creatures, their appearances [are] as coals of fire burning as the appearance of lamps; it is going up and down between the living creatures, and brightness [is] to the fire, and out of the fire is going forth lightning. As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches: [the fire] went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.
Ezekiel 1:14And the living beings went out and came back as quickly as a thunder-flame.And the living creatures are running, and turning back, as the appearance of the flash. And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.
Ezekiel 1:15Now while I was looking at the four living beings, I saw one wheel on the earth, by the side of the living beings, for the four of them. And I see the living creatures, and lo, one wheel [is] in the earth, near the living creatures, at its four faces. Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold, one wheel upon the earth beside the living creatures, for each of the four faces thereof.
Ezekiel 1:16The form of the wheels and their work was like a beryl; the four of them had the same form and design, and they were like a wheel inside a wheel. The appearance of the wheels and their works [is] as the colour of beryl, and one likeness [is] to them four, and their appearances and their works [are] as it were the wheel in the midst of the wheel. The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto a beryl: and they four had one likeness; and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel within a wheel.
Ezekiel 1:17The four of them went straight forward without turning to one side.On their four sides, in their going they go, they turn not round in their going. When they went, they went in their four directions: they turned not when they went.
Ezekiel 1:18And I saw that they had edges, and their edges, even of the four, were full of eyes round about. As to their rings, they are both high and fearful, and their rings [are] full of eyes round about them four.As for their rims, they were high and dreadful; and they four had their rims full of eyes round about.
Ezekiel 1:19And when the living beings went on, the wheels went by their side; and when the living beings were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.And in the going of the living creatures, the wheels go beside them, and in the living creatures being lifted up from off the earth, lifted up are the wheels. And when the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.
Ezekiel 1:20Wherever the spirit was to go they went; and the wheels were lifted up by their side: for the spirit of the living beings was in the wheels.Whither the spirit is to go, they go, thither the spirit [is] to go, and the wheels are lifted up over-against them, for a living spirit [is] in the wheels.Whithersoever the spirit was to go, they went; thither was the spirit to go: and the wheels were lifted up beside them; for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
Ezekiel 1:21When these went on, the others went; and when these came to rest, the others came to rest; and when these were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up by their side: for the spirit of the living beings was in the wheels. In their going, they go; and in their standing, they stand; and in their being lifted up from off the earth, lifted up are the wheels over-against them; for a living spirit [is] in the wheels. When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up beside them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
Ezekiel 1:22And over the heads of the living beings there was the form of an arch, looking like ice, stretched out over their heads on high. And a likeness [is] over the heads of the living creatures of an expanse, as the colour of the fearful ice, stretched out over their heads from above. And over the head of the living creature there was the likeness of a firmament, like the terrible crystal to look upon, stretched forth over their heads above.
Ezekiel 1:23Under the arch their wings were straight, one stretched out to another: every one had two wings covering their bodies on this side and two covering their bodies on that side. And under the expanse their wings [are] straight, one toward the other, to each are two covering on this side, and to each are two covering on that side their bodies. And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two which covered on this side, and every one had two which covered on that side, their bodies.
Ezekiel 1:24And when they went, the sound of their wings was like the sound of great waters to my ears, like the voice of the Ruler of all, a sound like the rushing of an army: when they came to rest they let down their wings. And I hear the noise of their wings, as the noise of many waters, as the noise of the Mighty One, in their going the noise of tumult, as the noise of a camp, in their standing they let fall their wings. And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings like the noise of great waters, like the voice of the Almighty, a noise of tumult like the noise of a host: when they stood, they let down their wings.
Ezekiel 1:25And there was a voice from the top of the arch which was over their heads: when they came to rest they let down their wings. And there is a voice from above the expanse, that [is] above their head: in their standing they let fall their wings. And there was a voice above the firmament that was over their heads: when they stood, they let down their wings.
Ezekiel 1:26And on the top of the arch which was over their heads was the form of a king's seat, like a sapphire stone; and on the form of the seat was the form of a man seated on it on high. And above the expanse that [is] over their head, as an appearance of a sapphire stone, [is] the likeness of a throne, and on the likeness of the throne a likeness, as the appearance of man upon it from above. And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone; and upon the likeness of the throne was a likeness as the appearance of a man upon it above.
Ezekiel 1:27And I saw it coloured like electrum, with the look of fire in it and round it, going up from what seemed to be the middle of his body; and going down from what seemed to be the middle of his body I saw what was like fire, and there was a bright light shining round him.And I see as the colour of copper, as the appearance of fire within it round about, from the appearance of his loins and upward, and from the appearance of his loins and downward, I have seen as the appearance of fire, and brightness [is] to it round about. And I saw as it were glowing metal, as the appearance of fire within it round about, from the appearance of his loins and upward; and from the appearance of his loins and downward I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and there was brightness round about him.
Ezekiel 1:28Like the bow in the cloud on a day of rain, so was the light shining round him. And this is what the glory of the Lord was like. And when I saw it I went down on my face, and the voice of one talking came to my ears.As the appearance of the bow that is in a cloud in a day of rain, so [is] the appearance of the brightness round about. As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of Jehovah. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.
