And he sojourned in Gerar.
Genesis 20:2And Abraham said of Sarah, his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech, king of Gerar, sent and took Sarah.and Abraham saith concerning Sarah his wife, `She is my sister;` and Abimelech king of Gerar sendeth and taketh Sarah. And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister. And Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.
Genesis 20:3But God came to Abimelech in a dream in the night, and said to him, Truly you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken; for she is a man's wife. And God cometh in unto Abimelech in a dream of the night, and saith to him, `Lo, thou [art] a dead man, because of the woman whom thou hast taken and she married to a husband.`But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, because of the woman whom thou hast taken. For she is a man's wife.
Genesis 20:4Now Abimelech had not come near her; and he said, Lord, will you put to death an upright nation? And Abimelech hath not drawn near unto her, and he saith, `Lord, also a righteous nation dost thou slay? Now Abimelech had not come near her. And he said, Lord, wilt thou slay even a righteous nation?
Genesis 20:5Did he not say to me himself, She is my sister? and she herself said, He is my brother: with an upright heart and clean hands have I done this.hath not he himself said to me, She [is] my sister! and she, even she herself, said, He [is] my brother; in the integrity of my heart, and in the innocency of my hands, I have done this.`Said he not himself unto me, She is my sister? And she, even she herself said, He is my brother. In the integrity of my heart and the innocency of my hands have I done this.
Genesis 20:6And God said to him in the dream, I see that you have done this with an upright heart, and I have kept you from sinning against me: for this reason I did not let you come near her.And God saith unto him in the dream, `Yea, I I have known that in the integrity of thy heart thou hast done this, and I withhold thee, even I, from sinning against Me, therefore I have not suffered thee to come against her;And God said unto him in the dream, Yea, I know that in the integrity of thy heart thou has done this, and I also withheld thee from sinning against me. Therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.
Genesis 20:7So now, give the man back his wife, for he is a prophet, and let him say a prayer for you, so your life may be safe: but if you do not give her back, be certain that death will come to you and all your house.and now send back the man`s wife, for he [is] inspired, and he doth pray for thee, and live thou; and if thou do not send back, know that dying thou dost die, thou, and all that thou hast.`Now therefore restore the man's wife. For he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live. And if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.
Genesis 20:8So Abimelech got up early in the morning and sent for all his servants and gave them word of these things, and they were full of fear. And Abimelech riseth early in the morning, and calleth for all his servants, and speaketh all these words in their ears; and the men fear exceedingly; And Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ear. And the men were sore afraid.
Genesis 20:9Then Abimelech sent for Abraham, and said, What have you done to us? what wrong have I done you that you have put on me and on my kingdom so great a sin? You have done to me things which are not to be done.and Abimelech calleth for Abraham, and saith to him, `What hast thou done to us? and what have I sinned against thee, that thou hast brought upon me, and upon my kingdom, a great sin? works which are not done thou hast done with me.`Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? And wherein have I sinned against thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? Thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.
Genesis 20:10And Abimelech said to Abraham, Why did you do this thing?Abimelech also saith unto Abraham, `What hast thou seen that thou hast done this thing?`And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing?
Genesis 20:11And Abraham said, Because it seemed to me that there was no fear of God in this place, and that they might put me to death because of my wife. And Abraham saith, `Because I said, `Surely the fear of God is not in this place, and they have slain me for the sake of my wife; And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place. And they will slay me for my wife's sake.
Genesis 20:12And, in fact, she is my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife:and also, truly she is my sister, daughter of my father, only not daughter of my mother, and she becometh my wife; And moreover she is indeed my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife:
Genesis 20:13And when God sent me wandering from my father's house, I said to her, Let this be the sign of your love for me; wherever we go, say of me, He is my brother.and it cometh to pass, when God hath caused me to wander from my father`s house, that I say to her, This [is] thy kindness which thou dost with me: at every place whither we come, say of me, He [is] my brother.`and it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt show unto me. At every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.
Genesis 20:14Then Abimelech gave to Abraham sheep and oxen and men-servants and women-servants, and gave him back his wife Sarah. And Abimelech taketh sheep and oxen, and servants and handmaids, and giveth to Abraham, and sendeth back to him Sarah his wife; And Abimelech took sheep and oxen, and men-servants and women-servants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife.
Genesis 20:15And Abimelech said, See, all my land is before you; take whatever place seems good to you.and Abimelech saith, `Lo, my land [is] before thee, where it is good in thine eyes, dwell;`And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee. Dwell where it pleaseth thee.
Genesis 20:16And he said to Sarah, See, I have given to your brother a thousand bits of silver so that your wrong may be put right; now your honour is clear in the eyes of all.and to Sarah he hath said, `Lo, I have given a thousand silverlings to thy brother; lo, it is to thee a covering of eyes, to all who are with thee;` and by all this she is reasoned with. And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver.
