1st-Peter 3:1Wives, be ruled by your husbands; so that even if some of them give no attention to the word, their hearts may be changed by the behaviour of their wives,In like manner, the wives, be ye subject to your own husbands, that even if certain are disobedient to the word, through the conversation of the wives, without the word, they may be won,Likewise, wives, [be] subject to your own husbands, that, even if any are disobedient to the word, they may be gained without [the] word by the conversation of the wives,
1st-Peter 3:2When they see your holy behaviour in the fear of God.having beheld your pure behaviour in fear,having witnessed your pure conversation [carried out] in fear;
1st-Peter 3:3Do not let your ornaments be those of the body such as dressing of the hair, or putting on of jewels of gold or fair clothing;whose adorning let it not be that which is outward, of plaiting of hair, and of putting around of things of gold, or of putting on of garments,whose adorning let it not be that outward one of tressing of hair, and wearing gold, or putting on apparel;
1st-Peter 3:4But let them be those of the unseen man of the heart, the ever-shining ornament of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great price in the eyes of God.but the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible thing of the meek and quiet spirit, which is, before God, of great price,but the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible [ornament] of a meek and quiet spirit, which in the sight of God is of great price.
1st-Peter 3:5And these were the ornaments of the holy women of the past, whose hope was in God, being ruled by their husbands:for thus once also the holy women who did hope on God, were adorning themselves, being subject to their own husbands,For thus also the holy women who have hoped in God heretofore adorned themselves, being subject to their own husbands;
1st-Peter 3:6As Sarah was ruled by Abraham, naming him lord; whose children you are if you do well, and are not put in fear by any danger.as Sarah was obedient to Abraham, calling him `sir,` of whom ye did become daughters, doing good, and not fearing any terror.as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord; whose children ye have become, doing good, and not fearing with any kind of consternation.
1st-Peter 3:7And you husbands, give thought to your way of life with your wives, giving honour to the woman who is the feebler vessel, but who has an equal part in the heritage of the grace of life; so that you may not be kept from prayer.The husbands, in like manner, dwelling with [them], according to knowledge, as to a weaker vessel to the wife imparting honour, as also being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.[Ye] husbands likewise, dwell with [them] according to knowledge, as with a weaker, [even] the female, vessel, giving [them] honour, as also fellow-heirs of [the] grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.
1st-Peter 3:8Last of all, see that you are all in agreement; feeling for one another, loving one another like brothers, full of pity, without pride:And finally, being all of one mind, having fellow-feeling, loving as brethren, compassionate, courteous,Finally, [be] all of one mind, sympathising, full of brotherly love, tender hearted, humble minded;
1st-Peter 3:9Not giving back evil for evil, or curse for curse, but in place of cursing, blessing; because this is the purpose of God for you that you may have a heritage of blessing.not giving back evil for evil, or railing for railing, and on the contrary, blessing, having known that to this ye were called, that a blessing ye may inherit;not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing; but on the contrary, blessing [others], because ye have been called to this, that ye should inherit blessing.
1st-Peter 3:10For it is said, Let the man who has a love of life, desiring to see good days, keep his tongue from evil and his lips from words of deceit:for `he who is willing to love life, and to see good days, let him guard his tongue from evil, and his lips not to speak guile;For he that will love life and see good days, let him cause his tongue to cease from evil and his lips that they speak no guile.
1st-Peter 3:11And let him be turned from evil and do good; searching for peace and going after it with all his heart.let him turn aside from evil, and do good, let him seek peace and pursue it;And let him avoid evil, and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it;
1st-Peter 3:12For the eyes of the Lord are on the upright, and his ears are open to their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.because the eyes of the Lord [are] upon the righteous, and His ears to their supplication, and the face of the Lord [is] upon those doing evil;`because [the] eyes of [the] Lord [are] on [the] righteous, and his ears towards their supplications; but [the] face of [the] Lord [is] against them that do evil.
1st-Peter 3:13Who will do you any damage if you keep your minds fixed on what is good?and who [is] he who will be doing you evil, if of Him who is good ye may become imitators?And who shall injure you if ye have become imitators of that which [is] good?
1st-Peter 3:14But you are happy if you undergo pain because of righteousness; have no part in their fear and do not be troubled;but if ye also should suffer because of righteousness, happy [are ye]! and of their fear be not afraid, nor be troubled,But if also ye should suffer for righteousness' sake, blessed [are ye]; but be not afraid of their fear, neither be troubled;
1st-Peter 3:15But give honour to Christ in your hearts as your Lord; and be ready at any time when you are questioned about the hope which is in you, to give an answer in the fear of the Lord and without pride;and the Lord God sanctify in your hearts. And [be] ready always for defence to every one who is asking of you an account concerning the hope that [is] in you, with meekness and fear;but sanctify [the] Lord the Christ in your hearts, and [be] always prepared to [give] an answer [to] every one that asks you to give an account of the hope that [is] in you, but with meekness and fear;
1st-Peter 3:16Being conscious that you have done no wrong; so that those who say evil things about your good way of life as Christians may be put to shame.having a good conscience, that in that in which they speak against you as evil-doers, they may be ashamed who are traducing your good behaviour in Christ;having a good conscience, that [as to that] in which they speak against you as evildoers, they may be ashamed who calumniate your good conversation in Christ.
1st-Peter 3:17Because if it is God's purpose for you to undergo pain, it is better to do so for well-doing than for evil-doing.for [it is] better doing good, if the will of God will it, to suffer, than doing evil;For [it is] better, if the will of God should will it, to suffer [as] well-doers than [as] evildoers;
1st-Peter 3:18Because Christ once went through pain for sins, the upright one taking the place of sinners, so that through him we might come back to God; being put to death in the flesh, but given life in the Spirit;because also Christ once for sin did suffer righteous for unrighteous that he might lead us to God, having been put to death indeed, in the flesh, and having been made alive in the spirit,for Christ indeed has once suffered for sins, [the] just for [the] unjust, that he might bring us to God; being put to death in flesh, but made alive in [the] Spirit,
1st-Peter 3:19By whom he went to the spirits in prison, preaching to thosein which also to the spirits in prison having gone he did preach,in which also going he preached to the spirits [which are] in prison,
1st-Peter 3:20Who, in the days of Noah, went against God's orders; but God in his mercy kept back the punishment, while Noah got ready the ark, in which a small number, that is to say eight persons, got salvation through water:who sometime disbelieved, when once the long-suffering of God did wait, in days of Noah an ark being preparing in which few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water;heretofore disobedient, when the longsuffering of God waited in [the] days of Noah while the ark was preparing, into which few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water:
1st-Peter 3:21And baptism, of which this is an image, now gives you salvation, not by washing clean the flesh, but by making you free from the sense of sin before God, through the coming again of Jesus Christ from the dead;also to which an antitype doth now save us baptism, (not a putting away of the filth of flesh, but the question of a good conscience in regard to God,) through the rising again of Jesus Christ,which figure also now saves you, [even] baptism, not a putting away of [the] filth of flesh, but [the] demand as before God of a good conscience, by [the] resurrection of Jesus Christ,
1st-Peter 3:22Who has gone into heaven, and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been put under his rule.who is at the right hand of God, having gone on to heaven messengers, and authorities, and powers, having been subjected to him.who is at [the] right hand of God, gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being subjected to him.
