Galatians 4:1But I say that as long as the son is a child, he is in no way different from a servant, though he is lord of all;And I say, so long time as the heir is a babe, he differeth nothing from a servant being lord of all,Now I say, As long as the heir is a child, he differs nothing from a bondman, though he be lord of all;
Galatians 4:2But is under keepers and managers till the time fixed by the father.but is under tutors and stewards till the time appointed of the father,but he is under guardians and stewards until the period fixed by the father.
Galatians 4:3So we, when we were young, were kept under the first rules of the world;so also we, when we were babes, under the elements of the world were in servitude,So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the principles of the world;
Galatians 4:4But when the time had come, God sent out his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,and when the fulness of time did come, God sent forth His Son, come of a woman, come under law,but when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, come of woman, come under law,
Galatians 4:5That he might make them free who were under the law, and that we might be given the place of sons.that those under law he may redeem, that the adoption of sons we may receive;that he might redeem those under law, that we might receive sonship.
Galatians 4:6And because you are sons, God has sent out the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, saying, Abba, Father.and because ye are sons, God did send forth the spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, `Abba, Father!`But because ye are sons, God has sent out the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Galatians 4:7So that you are no longer a servant, but a son; and if a son, then the heritage of God is yours.so that thou art no more a servant, but a son, and if a son, also an heir of God through Christ.So thou art no longer bondman, but son; but if son, heir also through God.
Galatians 4:8But at that time, having no knowledge of God, you were servants to those who by right are no gods:But then, indeed, not having known God, ye were in servitude to those not by nature gods,But then indeed, not knowing God, ye were in bondage to those who by nature are not gods;
Galatians 4:9But now that you have come to have knowledge of God, or more truly, God has knowledge of you, how is it that you go back again to the poor and feeble first things, desiring to be servants to them again?and now, having known God and rather being known by God how turn ye again unto the weak and poor elements to which anew ye desire to be in servitude?but now, knowing God, but rather being known by God, how do ye turn again to the weak and beggarly principles to which ye desire to be again anew in bondage?
Galatians 4:10You keep days, and months, and fixed times, and years.days ye observe, and months, and times, and years!Ye observe days and months and times and years.
Galatians 4:11I am in fear of you, that I may have been working for you to no purpose.I am afraid of you, lest in vain I did labour toward you.I am afraid of you, lest indeed I have laboured in vain as to you.
Galatians 4:12My desire for you, brothers, is that you may be as I am, because I am as you are. You have done me no wrong;Become as I [am] because I also [am] as ye brethren, I beseech you; to me ye did no hurt,Be as *I* [am], for *I* also [am] as *ye*, brethren, I beseech you: ye have not at all wronged me.
Galatians 4:13But you have knowledge that with a feeble body I was preaching the good news to you the first time;and ye have known that through infirmity of the flesh I did proclaim good news to you at the first,But ye know that in weakness of the flesh I announced the glad tidings to you at the first;
Galatians 4:14And you did not have a poor opinion of me because of the trouble in my flesh, or put shame on it; but you took me to your hearts as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.and my trial that [is] in my flesh ye did not despise nor reject, but as a messenger of God ye did receive me as Christ Jesus;and my temptation, which [was] in my flesh, ye did not slight nor reject with contempt; but ye received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus.
Galatians 4:15Where then is that happy condition of yours? because I give you witness, that, if possible, you would have taken out your eyes and given them to me.what then was your happiness? for I testify to you, that if possible, your eyes having plucked out, ye would have given to me;What then [was] your blessedness? for I bear you witness that, if possible, plucking out your own eyes ye would have given [them] to me.
Galatians 4:16So then am I no longer your friend, because I give you true words?so that your enemy have I become, being true to you?So I have become your enemy in speaking the truth to you?
Galatians 4:17Their interest in you is not good; but their desire is that you may be shut out, so that you may go after them.they are zealous for you [yet] not well, but they wish to shut us out, that for them ye may be zealous;They are not rightly zealous after you, but desire to shut you out [from us], that ye may be zealous after them.
Galatians 4:18But it is good to have an interest in a good cause at all times, and not only when I am present with you.and [it is] good to be zealously regarded, in what is good, at all times, and not only in my being present with you;But [it is] right to be zealous at all times in what is right, and not only when I am present with you
Galatians 4:19My children, of whom I am again in birth-pains till Christ is formed in you,my little children, of whom again I travail in birth, till Christ may be formed in you,my children, of whom I again travail in birth until Christ shall have been formed in you:
Galatians 4:20Truly my desire is to be present with you now, using a changed voice; for I am troubled about you.and I was wishing to be present with you now, and to change my voice, because I am in doubt about you.and I should wish to be present with you now, and change my voice, for I am perplexed as to you.
Galatians 4:21Say, you whose desire it is to be under the law, do you not give ear to the law?Tell me, ye who are willing to be under law, the law do ye not hear?Tell me, ye who are desirous of being under law, do ye not listen to the law?
Galatians 4:22Because it is in the Writings, that Abraham had two sons, one by the servant-woman, and one by the free woman.for it hath been written, that Abraham had two sons, one by the maid-servant, and one by the free-woman,For it is written that Abraham had two sons; one of the maid servant, and one of the free woman.
Galatians 4:23Now the son by the servant-woman has his birth after the flesh; but the son by the free woman has his birth through the undertaking of God.but he who [is] of the maid-servant, according to flesh hath been, and he who [is] of the free-woman, through the promise;But he [that was] of the maid servant was born according to flesh, and he [that was] of the free woman through the promise.
Galatians 4:24Which things have a secret sense; because these women are the two agreements; one from the mountain of Sinai, giving birth to servants, which is Hagar.which things are allegorized, for these are the two covenants: one, indeed, from mount Sinai, to servitude bringing forth, which is Hagar;Which things have an allegorical sense; for these are two covenants: one from mount Sinai, gendering to bondage, which is Hagar.
Galatians 4:25Now this Hagar is the mountain Sinai in Arabia, and is the image of the Jerusalem which now is: which is a servant with her children.for this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and doth correspond to the Jerusalem that now [is], and is in servitude with her children,For Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which [is] now, for she is in bondage with her children;
Galatians 4:26But the Jerusalem on high is free, which is our mother.and the Jerusalem above is the free-woman, which is mother of us all,but the Jerusalem above is free, which is our mother.
Galatians 4:27For it is in the Writings, You who have never given birth, be glad; give cries of joy, you who have had no birth-pains; for the children of her who has been given up by her husband are more than those of the woman who has a husband.for it hath been written, `Rejoice, O barren, who art not bearing; break forth and cry, thou who art not travailing, because many [are] the children of the desolate more than of her having the husband.`For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break out and cry, thou that travailest not; because the children of the desolate are more numerous than [those] of her that has a husband.
Galatians 4:28Now we, brothers, as Isaac was, are the children of the undertaking of God.And we, brethren, as Isaac, are children of promise,But *ye*, brethren, after the pattern of Isaac, are children of promise.
Galatians 4:29But as in those days he who had birth after the flesh was cruel to him who had birth after the Spirit, even so it is now.but as then he who was born according to the flesh did persecute him according to the spirit, so also now;But as then he that was born according to flesh persecuted him [that was born] according to Spirit, so also [it is] now.
Galatians 4:30What then do the Writings say? Send away the servant-woman and her son; for the son of the servant-woman will not have a part in the heritage with the son of the free woman.but what saith the Writing? `Cast forth the maid-servant and her son, for the son of the maid-servant may not be heir with the son of the free-woman;`But what says the scripture? Cast out the maid servant and her son; for the son of the maid servant shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.
Galatians 4:31So, brothers, we are not children of the servant-woman, but of the free woman.then, brethren, we are not a maid-servant`s children, but the free-woman`s.So then, brethren, we are not maid servant's children, but [children] of the free woman.
