Haggai 1:1In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, came the word of the Lord by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, ruler of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, hath a word of Jehovah been by the hand of Haggai the prophet, unto Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and unto Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest, saying:In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, came the word of Jehovah by the prophet Haggai unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,
Haggai 1:2These are the words of the Lord of armies: These people say, The time has not come for building the Lord's house. Thus spake Jehovah of Hosts, saying: This people! they have said, `The time hath not come, The time the house of Jehovah [is] to be built.`Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that Jehovah's house should be built.
Haggai 1:3Then the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying,And there is a word of Jehovah by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:And the word of Jehovah came by Haggai the prophet, saying,
Haggai 1:4Is it a time for you to be living in roofed houses while this house is a waste? Is it time for you you! To dwell in your covered houses, And this house to lie waste? Is it time for you that ye should dwell in your wainscoted houses, while this house lieth waste?
Haggai 1:5For this cause the Lord of armies has said, Give thought to your ways. And now, thus said Jehovah of Hosts, Set your heart to your ways. And now thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider your ways.
Haggai 1:6Much has been planted, but little got in; you take food, but have not enough; you take drink, but are not full; you are clothed, but no one is warm; and he who gets payment for his work, gets it to put it into a bag full of holes.Ye have sown much, and brought in little, To eat, and not to satiety, To drink, and not to drunkenness, To clothe, and none hath heat, And he who is hiring himself out, Is hiring himself for a bag pierced through.Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but are not satisfied; ye drink, but are not filled with drink; ye clothe yourselves, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages for a bag with holes.
Haggai 1:7This is what the Lord of armies has said: Give thought to your ways. Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Set your heart to your ways. Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Consider your ways.
Haggai 1:8Go up to the hills and get wood and put up the house; and I will take pleasure in it and be honoured, says the Lord.Go up the mountain, and ye have brought in wood, And build the house, and I am pleased with it. And I am honoured, said Jehovah.Go up to the mountain and bring wood, and build the house, and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith Jehovah.
Haggai 1:9You were looking for much, and it came to little; and when you got it into your house, I took it away with a breath. Why? says the Lord of armies. Because of my house which is a waste, while every man takes care of the house which is his.Looking for much, and lo, little, And ye brought [it] home, and I blew on it, Wherefore? an affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, Because of My house that is waste, And ye are running each to his house,Ye looked for much, and behold it was little; and when ye brought it home, I blew upon it. Wherefore? saith Jehovah of hosts. Because of my house that lieth waste, whilst ye run every man to his own house.
Haggai 1:10For this cause the heaven over you is kept from giving dew, and the earth from giving her fruit. Therefore, over you refrained have the heavens from dew, And the land hath refrained its increase. Therefore over you the heavens withhold their dew, and the earth withholdeth its fruit.
Haggai 1:11And by my order no rain came on the land or on the mountains or the grain or the wine or the oil or the produce of the earth or on men or cattle or on any work of man's hands. And I proclaim draught on the land, And on the mountains, and on the corn, And on the new wine, and on the oil, And on what the ground doth bring forth, And on man, and on beast, And on all labour of the hands.`And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon man, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.
Haggai 1:12Then Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and all the rest of the people, gave ear to the voice of the Lord their God and to the words of Haggai the prophet, because the Lord their God had sent him, and the people were in fear before the Lord. And Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest, and all the remnant of the people, do hearken to the voice of Jehovah their God, and unto the words of Haggai the prophet, as Jehovah their God had sent him, and the people are afraid of the face of Jehovah. And Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and all the remnant of the people, hearkened to the voice of Jehovah their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, according as Jehovah their God had sent him, and the people feared before Jehovah.
Haggai 1:13Then Haggai, whom the Lord had sent to give his words to the people, said, I am with you, says the Lord. And Haggai, messenger of Jehovah, in messages of Jehovah, speaketh to the people, saying: `I [am] with you, an affirmation of Jehovah.`Then spoke Haggai, Jehovah's messenger, in Jehovah's message unto the people, saying, I am with you, saith Jehovah.
Haggai 1:14And the spirit of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, ruler of Judah, was moved by the Lord, as was the spirit of Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the rest of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the Lord of armies, their God.And Jehovah doth stir up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and they come in, and do work in the house of Jehovah of Hosts their God,And Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked at the house of Jehovah of hosts, their God,
Haggai 1:15On the twenty-fourth day of the month, in the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.in the twenty and fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.in the four and twentieth day of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
