| James 4:1 | What is the cause of wars and fighting among you? is it not in your desires which are at war in your bodies? | Whence [are] wars and fightings among you? not thence out of your passions, that are as soldiers in your members? | Whence [come] wars and whence fightings among you? [Is it] not thence, from your pleasures, which war in your members? |
| James 4:2 | You are burning with desire, and have not your desire, so you put men to death; you are full of envy, and you are not able to get your desire, so you are fighting and making war; you have not your desire, because you do not make request for it. | ye desire, and ye have not; ye murder, and are zealous, and are not able to attain; ye fight and war, and ye have not, because of your not asking; | Ye lust and have not: ye kill and are full of envy, and cannot obtain; ye fight and war; ye have not because ye ask not. |

Does the Spirit which has taken his abode in us desire enviously? |
| James 4:6 | But he gives more grace. So that the Writings say, God is against the men of pride, but he gives grace to those who make themselves low before him. | and greater grace he doth give, wherefore he saith, `God against proud ones doth set Himself up, and to lowly ones He doth give grace?` | But he gives more grace. Wherefore he says, God sets himself against [the] proud, but gives grace to [the] lowly. |

| James 4:14 | When you are not certain what will take place tomorrow. What is your life? It is a mist, which is seen for a little time and then is gone. | who do not know the thing of the morrow; for what is your life? for it is a vapour that is appearing for a little, and then is vanishing; | ye who do not know what will be on the morrow, ([for] what [is] your life? It is even a vapour, appearing for a little while, and then disappearing,) |
| James 4:15 | But the right thing to say would be, If it is the Lord's pleasure and if we are still living, we will do this and that. | instead of your saying, `If the Lord may will, we shall live, and do this or that;` | instead of your saying, If the Lord should [so] will and we should live, we will also do this or that. |
