John 7:1After this, Jesus went from place to place in Galilee. He did not go about in Judaea, because the Jews were looking for a chance to put him to death. And Jesus was walking after these things in Galilee, for he did not wish to walk in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill him,And after these things Jesus walked in Galilee, for he would not walk in Judaea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
John 7:2But the feast of the Jews, the feast of tents, was near.and the feast of the Jews was nigh that of tabernaclesNow the tabernacles, the feast of the Jews, was near.
John 7:3So his brothers said to him, Go away from here into Judaea so that your disciples may see the works which you do.his brethren, therefore, said unto him, `Remove hence, and go away to Judea, that thy disciples also may behold thy works that thou dost;His brethren therefore said to him, Remove hence and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see thy works which thou doest;
John 7:4Because no man does things secretly if he has a desire that men may have knowledge of him. If you do these things, let yourself be seen by all men.for no one in secret doth anything, and himself seeketh to be in public; if thou dost these things manifest thyself to the world;`for no one does anything in secret and himself seeks to be [known] in public. If thou doest these things, manifest thyself to the world:
John 7:5For even his brothers had no belief in him.for not even were his brethren believing in him.for neither did his brethren believe on him.
John 7:6Jesus said to them, My time is still to come, but any time is good for you.Jesus, therefore, saith to them, `My time is not yet present, but your time is always ready;Jesus therefore says to them, My time is not yet come, but your time is always ready.
John 7:7It is not possible for you to be hated by the world; but I am hated by it, because I give witness that what it does is evil.the world is not able to hate you, but me it doth hate, because I testify concerning it that its works are evil. The world cannot hate you, but me it hates, because I bear witness concerning it that its works are evil.
John 7:8Go you up to the feast: I am not going up now to the feast because my time has not fully come.Ye go ye up to this feast; I do not yet go up to this feast, because my time hath not yet been fulfilled;`Ye, go ye up to this feast. I go not up to this feast, for *my* time is not yet fulfilled.
John 7:9Having said these things to them, he still kept in Galilee.and saying these things to them, he remained in Galilee.Having said these things to them he abode in Galilee.
John 7:10But after his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he went up, not publicly, but in secret. And when his brethren went up, then also he himself went up to the feast, not manifestly, but as in secret; But when his brethren had gone up, then he himself also went up to the feast, not openly, but as in secret.
John 7:11At the feast the Jews were looking for him and saying, Where is he?the Jews, therefore, were seeking him, in the feast, and said, `Where is that one?`The Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?
John 7:12And there was much discussion about him among the mass of the people. Some said, He is a good man; but others said, No, he is giving people false ideas.and there was much murmuring about him among the multitudes, some indeed said `He is good;` and others said, `No, but he leadeth astray the multitude;`And there was much murmuring concerning him among the crowds. Some said, He is [a] good [man]; others said, No; but he deceives the crowd.
John 7:13But no man said anything about him openly for fear of the Jews.no one, however, was speaking freely about him, through fear of the Jews. However, no one spoke openly concerning him on account of [their] fear of the Jews.
John 7:14Now in the middle of the feast Jesus went up to the Temple and was teaching. And it being now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up to the temple, and he was teaching,But when it was now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
John 7:15Then the Jews were surprised and said, How has this man got knowledge of books? He has never been to school.and the Jews were wondering, saying, `How hath this one known letters not having learned?`The Jews therefore wondered, saying, How knows this [man] letters, having never learned?
John 7:16Jesus gave them this answer: It is not my teaching, but his who sent me.Jesus answered them and said, `My teaching is not mine, but His who sent me;Jesus therefore answered them and said, My doctrine is not mine, but [that] of him that has sent me.
John 7:17If any man is ready to do God's pleasure he will have knowledge of the teaching and of where it comes from from God or from myself.if any one may will to do His will, he shall know concerning the teaching, whether it is of God, or I do speak from myself. If any one desire to practise his will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is of God, or [that] I speak from myself.
John 7:18The man whose words come from himself is looking for glory for himself, but he who is looking for the glory of him who sent him that man is true and there is no evil in him.`He who is speaking from himself his own glory doth seek, but he who is seeking the glory of him who sent him, this one is true, and unrighteousness is not in him;He that speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but he that seeks the glory of him that has sent him, he is true, and unrighteousness is not in him.
John 7:19Did not Moses give you the law? Even so, not one of you keeps the law. Why have you a desire to put me to death?hath not Moses given you the law? and none of you doth the law; why me do ye seek to kill?`Has not Moses given you the law, and no one of you practises the law? Why do ye seek to kill me?
John 7:20The people said in answer, You have an evil spirit: who has any desire to put you to death? The multitude answered and said, `Thou hast a demon, who doth seek to kill thee?`The crowd answered [and said], Thou hast a demon: who seeks to kill thee?
John 7:21This was the answer of Jesus: I have done one work and you are all surprised at it.Jesus answered and said to them, `One work I did, and ye all wonder,Jesus answered and said to them, I have done one work, and ye all wonder.
John 7:22Moses gave you circumcision not that it comes from Moses, but from the fathers and even on the Sabbath you give a child circumcision.because of this, Moses hath given you the circumcision not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers and on a sabbath ye circumcise a man; Therefore Moses gave you circumcision (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers), and ye circumcise a man on sabbath.
John 7:23If a child is given circumcision on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me because I made a man completely well on the Sabbath?if a man doth receive circumcision on a sabbath that the law of Moses may not be broken, are ye wroth with me that I made a man all whole on a sabbath? If a man receives circumcision on sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be violated, are ye angry with me because I have made a man entirely sound on sabbath?
John 7:24Let not your decisions be based on what you see, but on righteousness.judge not according to appearance, but the righteous judgment judge.`Judge not according to sight, but judge righteous judgment.
John 7:25Then some of the people of Jerusalem said, Is not this the man whose death is desired?Certain, therefore, of the Jerusalemites said, `Is not this he whom they are seeking to kill? Some therefore of those of Jerusalem said, Is not this he whom they seek to kill?
John 7:26And here he is talking openly and they say nothing to him! Is it possible that the rulers have knowledge that this is truly the Christ?and, lo, he doth speak freely, and they say nothing to him; did the rulers at all know truly that this is truly the Christ?and behold, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Have the rulers then indeed recognised that this is the Christ?
John 7:27However, it is clear to us where this man comes from: but when the Christ comes no one will have knowledge where he comes from.but this one we have known whence he is; and the Christ, when he doth come, no one doth know whence he is.`But [as to] this [man] we know whence he is. Now [as to] the Christ, when he comes, no one knows whence he is.
John 7:28Then, when he was teaching in the Temple, Jesus said with a loud voice, You have knowledge of me and you have knowledge of where I come from; and I have not come of myself; but there is One who has sent me; he is true, but you have no knowledge of him.Jesus cried, therefore, in the temple, teaching and saying, `Ye have both known me, and ye have known whence I am; and I have not come of myself, but He who sent me is true, whom ye have not known;Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, Ye both know me and ye know whence I am; and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye do not know.
John 7:29I have knowledge of him because I came from him and he sent me.and I have known Him, because I am from Him, and He did send me.`I know him, because I am from him, and *he* has sent me.
John 7:30Then they had a desire to take him: but no man put hands on him because his hour was still to come. They were seeking, therefore, to seize him, and no one laid the hand on him, because his hour had not yet come,They sought therefore to take him; and no one laid his hand upon him, because his hour had not yet come.
John 7:31And numbers of the people had belief in him, and they said, When the Christ comes will he do more signs than this man has done?and many out of the multitude did believe in him, and said `The Christ when he may come will he do more signs than these that this one did?`But many of the crowd believed on him, and said, Will the Christ, when he comes, do more signs than those which this [man] has done?
John 7:32This discussion of the people came to the ears of the Pharisees; and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent servants to take him.The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers that they may take him;The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers that they might take him.
John 7:33Then Jesus said, I will be with you a little longer and then I go to him who sent me.Jesus, therefore, said to them, `Yet a little time I am with you, and I go away unto Him who sent me;Jesus therefore said, Yet a little while I am with you, and I go to him that has sent me.
John 7:34You will be looking for me, and you will not see me: and where I am you may not come.ye will seek me, and ye shall not find; and where I am, ye are not able to come.`Ye shall seek me and shall not find [me], and where I am ye cannot come.
John 7:35So the Jews said among themselves, To what place is he going where we will not see him? will he go to the Jews living among the Greeks and become the teacher of the Greeks? The Jews, therefore, said among themselves, `Whither is this one about to go that we shall not find him? to the dispersion of the Greeks is he about to go? and to teach the Greeks; The Jews therefore said to one another, Where is he about to go that we shall not find him? Is he about to go to the dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
John 7:36What is this saying of his, You will be looking for me and will not see me, and where I am you may not come?what is this word that he said, Ye will seek me, and ye shall not find? and, Where I am, ye are not able to come?`What word is this which he said, Ye shall seek me and shall not find [me]; and where I am ye cannot come?
John 7:37On the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus got up and said in a loud voice, If any man is in need of drink let him come to me and I will give it to him.And in the last, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, `If any one doth thirst, let him come unto me and drink; In the last, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried saying, If any one thirst, let him come to me and drink.
John 7:38He who has faith in me, out of his body, as the Writings have said, will come rivers of living water.he who is believing in me, according as the Writing said, Rivers out of his belly shall flow of living water;`He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
John 7:39This he said of the Spirit which would be given to those who had faith in him: the Spirit had not been given then, because the glory of Jesus was still to come.and this he said of the Spirit, which those believing in him were about to receive; for not yet was the Holy Spirit, because Jesus was not yet glorified. But this he said concerning the Spirit, which they that believed on him were about to receive; for [the] Spirit was not yet, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.
John 7:40When these words came to their ears, some of the people said, This is certainly the prophet. Many, therefore out of the multitude, having heard the word, said, `This is truly the Prophet;`[Some] out of the crowd therefore, having heard this word, said, This is truly the prophet.
John 7:41Others said, This is the Christ. But others said, Not so; will the Christ come from Galilee?others said, `This is the Christ;` and others said, `Why, out of Galilee doth the Christ come?Others said, This is the Christ. Others said, Does then the Christ come out of Galilee?
John 7:42Do not the Writings say that the Christ comes of the seed of David and from Beth-lehem, the little town where David was?Did not the Writing say, that out of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem the village where David was the Christ doth come?`Has not the scripture said that the Christ comes of the seed of David, and from the village of Bethlehem, where David was?
John 7:43So there was a division among the people because of him.A division, therefore, arose among the multitude because of him. There was a division therefore in the crowd on account of him.
John 7:44And some of them had a desire to take him; but no man put hands on him.And certain of them were willing to seize him, but no one laid hands on him;But some of them desired to take him, but no one laid hands upon him.
John 7:45Then the servants went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, Why have you not got him with you?the officers came, therefore, unto the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, `Wherefore did ye not bring him?`The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, Why have ye not brought him?
John 7:46The servants made answer, No man ever said things like this man.The officers answered, `Never so spake man as this man.`The officers answered, Never man spoke thus, as this man [speaks].
John 7:47Then the Pharisees said to them, Have you, like the others, been given false ideas? The Pharisees, therefore, answered them, `Have ye also been led astray? The Pharisees therefore answered them, Are ye also deceived?
John 7:48Have any of the rulers belief in him, or any one of the Pharisees?did any one out of the rulers believe in him? or out of the Pharisees?Has any one of the rulers believed on him, or of the Pharisees?
John 7:49But these people who have no knowledge of the law are cursed.but this multitude, that is not knowing the law, is accursed.`But this crowd, which does not know the law, are accursed.
John 7:50Nicodemus he who had come to Jesus before, being himself one of them said to them,Nicodemus saith unto them he who came by night unto him being one of them,Nicodemus says to them (being one of themselves),
John 7:51Is a man judged by our law before it has given him a hearing and has knowledge of what he has done?`Doth our law judge the man, if it may not hear from him first, and know what he doth?`Does our law judge a man before it have first heard from himself, and know what he does?
John 7:52This was their answer: And do you come from Galilee? Make search and you will see that no prophet comes out of Galilee. They answered and said to him, `Art thou also out of Galilee? search and see, that a prophet out of Galilee hath not risen;`They answered and said to him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search and look, that no prophet arises out of Galilee.
John 7:53[And every man went to his house;and each one went on to his house, but Jesus went on to the mount of the Olives. And every one went to his home.
