1st-Peter 3:1Wives, be ruled by your husbands; so that even if some of them give no attention to the word, their hearts may be changed by the behaviour of their wives,In like manner, the wives, be ye subject to your own husbands, that even if certain are disobedient to the word, through the conversation of the wives, without the word, they may be won,Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
1st-Peter 3:2When they see your holy behaviour in the fear of God.having beheld your pure behaviour in fear,While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
1st-Peter 3:3Do not let your ornaments be those of the body such as dressing of the hair, or putting on of jewels of gold or fair clothing;whose adorning let it not be that which is outward, of plaiting of hair, and of putting around of things of gold, or of putting on of garments,Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
1st-Peter 3:4But let them be those of the unseen man of the heart, the ever-shining ornament of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great price in the eyes of God.but the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible thing of the meek and quiet spirit, which is, before God, of great price,But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
1st-Peter 3:5And these were the ornaments of the holy women of the past, whose hope was in God, being ruled by their husbands:for thus once also the holy women who did hope on God, were adorning themselves, being subject to their own husbands,For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
1st-Peter 3:6As Sarah was ruled by Abraham, naming him lord; whose children you are if you do well, and are not put in fear by any danger.as Sarah was obedient to Abraham, calling him `sir,` of whom ye did become daughters, doing good, and not fearing any terror.Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
1st-Peter 3:7And you husbands, give thought to your way of life with your wives, giving honour to the woman who is the feebler vessel, but who has an equal part in the heritage of the grace of life; so that you may not be kept from prayer.The husbands, in like manner, dwelling with [them], according to knowledge, as to a weaker vessel to the wife imparting honour, as also being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
1st-Peter 3:8Last of all, see that you are all in agreement; feeling for one another, loving one another like brothers, full of pity, without pride:And finally, being all of one mind, having fellow-feeling, loving as brethren, compassionate, courteous,Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
1st-Peter 3:9Not giving back evil for evil, or curse for curse, but in place of cursing, blessing; because this is the purpose of God for you that you may have a heritage of blessing.not giving back evil for evil, or railing for railing, and on the contrary, blessing, having known that to this ye were called, that a blessing ye may inherit;Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
1st-Peter 3:10For it is said, Let the man who has a love of life, desiring to see good days, keep his tongue from evil and his lips from words of deceit:for `he who is willing to love life, and to see good days, let him guard his tongue from evil, and his lips not to speak guile;For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
1st-Peter 3:11And let him be turned from evil and do good; searching for peace and going after it with all his heart.let him turn aside from evil, and do good, let him seek peace and pursue it;Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
1st-Peter 3:12For the eyes of the Lord are on the upright, and his ears are open to their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.because the eyes of the Lord [are] upon the righteous, and His ears to their supplication, and the face of the Lord [is] upon those doing evil;`For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
1st-Peter 3:13Who will do you any damage if you keep your minds fixed on what is good?and who [is] he who will be doing you evil, if of Him who is good ye may become imitators?And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
1st-Peter 3:14But you are happy if you undergo pain because of righteousness; have no part in their fear and do not be troubled;but if ye also should suffer because of righteousness, happy [are ye]! and of their fear be not afraid, nor be troubled,But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
1st-Peter 3:15But give honour to Christ in your hearts as your Lord; and be ready at any time when you are questioned about the hope which is in you, to give an answer in the fear of the Lord and without pride;and the Lord God sanctify in your hearts. And [be] ready always for defence to every one who is asking of you an account concerning the hope that [is] in you, with meekness and fear;But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
1st-Peter 3:16Being conscious that you have done no wrong; so that those who say evil things about your good way of life as Christians may be put to shame.having a good conscience, that in that in which they speak against you as evil-doers, they may be ashamed who are traducing your good behaviour in Christ;Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
1st-Peter 3:17Because if it is God's purpose for you to undergo pain, it is better to do so for well-doing than for evil-doing.for [it is] better doing good, if the will of God will it, to suffer, than doing evil;For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
1st-Peter 3:18Because Christ once went through pain for sins, the upright one taking the place of sinners, so that through him we might come back to God; being put to death in the flesh, but given life in the Spirit;because also Christ once for sin did suffer righteous for unrighteous that he might lead us to God, having been put to death indeed, in the flesh, and having been made alive in the spirit,For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
1st-Peter 3:19By whom he went to the spirits in prison, preaching to thosein which also to the spirits in prison having gone he did preach,By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
1st-Peter 3:20Who, in the days of Noah, went against God's orders; but God in his mercy kept back the punishment, while Noah got ready the ark, in which a small number, that is to say eight persons, got salvation through water:who sometime disbelieved, when once the long-suffering of God did wait, in days of Noah an ark being preparing in which few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water;Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
1st-Peter 3:21And baptism, of which this is an image, now gives you salvation, not by washing clean the flesh, but by making you free from the sense of sin before God, through the coming again of Jesus Christ from the dead;also to which an antitype doth now save us baptism, (not a putting away of the filth of flesh, but the question of a good conscience in regard to God,) through the rising again of Jesus Christ,The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
1st-Peter 3:22Who has gone into heaven, and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been put under his rule.who is at the right hand of God, having gone on to heaven messengers, and authorities, and powers, having been subjected to him.Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
