Jonah 2:1Then Jonah made prayer to the Lord his God from the inside of the fish, and said,And Jonah prayeth unto Jehovah his God from the bowels of the fish. Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,
Jonah 2:2In my trouble I was crying to the Lord, and he gave me an answer; out of the deepest underworld I sent up a cry, and you gave ear to my voice. And he saith: I called, because of my distress, to Jehovah, And He doth answer me, From the belly of sheol I have cried, Thou hast heard my voice. And said, I cried by reason of my affliction to the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardst my voice.
Jonah 2:3For you have put me down into the deep, into the heart of the sea; and the river was round about me; all your waves and your rolling waters went over me.When Thou dost cast me [into] the deep, Into the heart of the seas, Then the flood doth compass me, All Thy breakers and Thy billows have passed over me.For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods encompassed me: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
Jonah 2:4And I said, I have been sent away from before your eyes; how may I ever again see your holy Temple? And I I said: I have been cast out from before Thine eyes, (Yet I add to look unto Thy holy temple!)Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again towards thy holy temple.
Jonah 2:5The waters were circling round me, even to the neck; the deep was about me; the sea-grass was twisted round my head.Compassed me have waters unto the soul, The deep doth compass me, The weed is bound to my head. The waters encompassed me, even to the soul: the depth inclosed me on every side, the weeds were wrapped about my head.
Jonah 2:6I went down to the bases of the mountains; as for the earth, her walls were about me for ever: but you have taken up my life from the underworld, O Lord my God.To the cuttings of mountains I have come down, The earth, her bars [are] behind me to the age. And Thou bringest up from the pit my life, O Jehovah my God.I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.
Jonah 2:7When my soul in me was overcome, I kept the memory of the Lord: and my prayer came in to you, into your holy Temple. In the feebleness within me of my soul Jehovah I have remembered, And come in unto Thee doth my prayer, Unto Thy holy temple. When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came to thee, into thy holy temple.
Jonah 2:8The worshippers of false gods have given up their only hope. Those observing lying vanities their own mercy forsake. They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
Jonah 2:9But I will make an offering to you with the voice of praise; I will give effect to my oaths. Salvation is the Lord's.And I with a voice of thanksgiving I sacrifice to Thee, That which I have vowed I complete, Salvation [is] of Jehovah. But I will sacrifice to thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that which I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.
Jonah 2:10And at the Lord's order, the fish sent Jonah out of its mouth on to the dry land. And Jehovah saith to the fish, and it vomiteth out Jonah on the dry land. And the LORD spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
